“The council will find out what you have done, and you know the rules,” Charles yelled desperately. “No one member may hurt any of the others.” The desperately scared man hoped that his show of authority would sway his torturer from doing something terrible.
Williams looked at Charles and gently smiled. “I guess you’re right. There would be questions, certainly. But then I could always say you ran off to South America or something. Oh, I know how about Australia?” Williams said with a sudden excited look as if something else had popped into his head.
“You know I have always wanted to go to Australia,” the crazy doctor continued in a conversational, friendly tone. “Kangaroos, the wide-open spaces.”
