Prologue

Year 2170 In a laboratory room away from people, four persons can be seen wearing white lab coats while surrounding the unconscious girl lying on the steel bed. They are ready to do the experiment they have been preparing for a long time. An experiment where they wanted to test the human brain, they wanted to know the extent to which the human brain is capable. And they are expecting it to be successful as they planned. The four looked at each other and nodded as a go signal to start the experiment. A man in a white lab coat—Paolo Brook—carefully took the injection and a small piece of something—chip. He didn't think twice and injected the syringe into the girl's vein, didn't care if it would hurt the unconscious little girl or not. His subordinate just stood in front of him and monitored if there would be a reaction in the child's body. The room was filled with silence while they're looking intently at the unconscious little girl who became the human tester of the experiment they did, unaware of what are they doing to her and whose body is not moving an inch. “Is there any reaction?” asked the guy who injected the chip on the girl's vein and placed the injection back on the cart. “None,” retorted the only woman in the lab room, with her straight face looking at Paolo and crossed arms. The guy who thought of that experiment cheered happily—Edward Comet, thinking that the experiment had been successful. The chip he made will definitely be marketable and will be an incredible experiment throughout history because a small piece of that chip is capable of making the brain of the person that will use it more active compared to the normal human brain. A person using that chip can do something that a normal person cannot do. It's an experiment he thinks will gain more popularity and be one of the best scientists in the whole world, and his plan succeeded. “Incredible Mr. Comet, we're happy to be part of your team. You're unbelievable,” Sigmund Lovelace praised him and shook hands with Edward. “It's my pleasure to lead the team Mr. Lovelace,” Edward acknowledges Sigmund while shaking hands with him. Pride is visible in his voice. They hadn't even finished having fun because they thought the experiment was successful when they were interrupted by the loud noise coming from the monitor. The child's heart rate drops, the child's unconscious body also begins to tremble. Her body reacted to the chip they injected, to mix with her veins and blood. It's as if her body didn't want it on her veins. “What's going on?” Sigmund asked, confused. He did not know what to do with the trembling unconscious body of the child, as well as his teammates who don't also know what's wrong with what they did. “Take the chip out. Her body is rejecting the chip you injected directly into her veins,” Elizabeth Comet says with no trace of emotion on her face, she's so done with her husband's stupidity. From the start, she already knew it wouldn't work but she still kept her mouth shut and wanted to see how far her husband could go, “you injected the chip into the wrong part of the child's body. You should put it on her head, not on her body. The purpose of the chip is to make the human brain more active, not the body.” Elizabeth took the sedative d**g and injected it into the child, to stop the trembling of her body. After a few minutes, the child's body stopped shaking so Elizabeth removed her hand and stood up straight. Disappointment and helplessness are painted on the faces of her subordinates thinking that they failed on this experiment, except her—Elizabeth. “We can't take the chip out. As you've said, we injected the chip into the child's vein. We can't or no one can take the chip out," Paolo answered, hesitating. “Okay then. I'm out of this bullshit, ready yourself to be hated by the people,” she responded and fixed her glasses using her index finger. “You're not out of this so-called bullshit, Elizabeth, remember that your part of my team. Whatever the misfortune of one, everyone is affected. You can't run away. People will also hate you as well as us,” her husband threatened with a playful smirk on his face, but Elizabeth didn't care at all. As long as she isn't the one who leads the team, she can get through it through her connections, she can pull some strings, so she doesn't get involved in her husband's mess.   “I don't care,” she says and begins to make her way to the exit of the laboratory. Even before she could get out, she stopped walking and said, “I don't care about the child if that's what you're thinking right now. Just think what will happen if the authorities find out that you killed a child. I don't want to be dragged into a mess that will ruin my reputation as one of the most successful scientists in the world. Fix your mess Mister Edward Comet. Don't stain your name if you don't want me to change my surname so as not to get involved in your stupidity.” When she came out of the laboratory room the straight sound of the monitor echoed throughout the room, indicating that the child's heart had stopped beating. The three guys left inside the laboratory were silent and just stared at the girl lying on the steel bed, with no sign that she was still alive. “We need to cover up this or we'll lose our careers. I don't also want to drag myself into a mess that will ruin my name in the industry. I'm still building my name,” Sigmund says coldly upon realizing the consequences they'll face if they don't fix this problem. “I agree with him. What should we do now, Comet?” Paolo inquired, bothered is visible on his face thinking that this would be the end of his era if the authority and the government will know this. “Relax. I will handle this. It's just a piece of cake.” His grin widened even more. “How— “ Before Paolo even finished his sentence he was interrupted by the sweet voice of a girl. “Where am I? And what am I doing here?” asked the girl, “daddy?” The three of them looked in the girl's direction with wide eyes. The girl whose heart stopped beating a while ago just talking to them! What is this? A dream? Or the girl's soul? And she even called one of them ‘daddy’. “We need to examine her, this is unbelievable,” Paolo suggested, ignoring the girl said. For him, he doesn’t mind whose daddy the girl’s calling. He was surprised by the sudden revival of the girl after her heart stopped beating. Edward and Sigmund agreed with him. Their pale faces lit up upon realizing that the experiment worked. Edward came up with a brilliant idea that he thinks his subordinates will agree to. “Let’s take her in the capsule to studied,” he says with a smirk on his face. “But…how about her parents? You know the technologist can find her that easily if her parents will report it to the cops and when that happens, we will lose our license,” asked his subordinate—Sigmund while calculating every possibility that will happen in his mind if they put the kid on the capsule and studied without her parent’s approval. “Relax!” The head scientist taped the shoulder of Sigmund to calm him but Sigmund just facepalmed. He really doesn’t want to not calculate everything because he’s just being careful with the government. “I’ll handle that,” he added. He could do nothing but sigh because he knew he couldn’t stop Edward from what he was planning to do. Edward approached the girl who was innocently just looking at them and didn't understand what they were talking about. “Relax, man. Trust him,” Paolo told him and approached Edward who was talking to the girl. “Do you want to see mommy?” Edward gently stroked the child’s black and soft hair, “or do you want to stay with daddy? And see me work?” Sigmund's eyes widened upon hearing it. He looks at Paolo who’s just grinning at him. “I told you. Trust him,” he shrugged. “Are you crazy?!” Sigmund thundered after he had recovered from the shock of the sudden revelation. He clenched his fist and suddenly grabbed the collar of Edward which still has a calm reaction. “You make your own child to be our first human tester! Are you even a human?!” he said as his voice rose. Edward sighed and removed Sigmund’s hands from his collar. He fixed his lab coat and threw a playful smile to Sigmund that until now is in rage. “Sigmund, my friend, don’t act like an innocent child,” he said playfully, making Edward burst into fury. “You bastard!” Sigmund yelled in wrath. He can't believe that he is with a demon. He thought he was accommodating, not like his past friends who were thirsty for power, but he was wrong. He was just like them! He rushed in his direction and quickly punched him in the face, making him slam on the floor. Edward slowly stood up while holding his jaw. This time the playful smile on his face vanished, his face had no trace of emotion. “Who are you by the way? I'm the father of that kid, I'll do what I want to do to her,” he said in a monotone. Sigmund laughed sarcastically. “What a jerk!” Sigmund scoffed in disbelief. “Don't ask for my help in the future if fate and destiny will make you pay big time for the bad things you have done especially to your own daughter. You don't know that maybe one of the people you did evil things with will end your life. I'll just laugh at the side, sipping a coffee while watching you beg for your life. I'm quitting this bullshit.” He turned his back on him and was ready to go out when Edward spoke, “As if I need your help, and will you stop pretending like you have never done anything evil. I know what your people did to that old man. So, don't act like a freaking angel. You're just as evil as me.” He glared at him. “I'm not and will never be like you,” he answered before he left and slammed the door loudly, but Edward was just looking at the door where his colleagues exited. Gradually his lips lifted and formed a playful smile.
