“What?”
“I’m at the bar right now!" She shouted on the other line, drunk. “Come on, let’s enjoy! I won’t accept a no answer!”
I cursed her in my mind many times and wished that she would have stopped her nonsense and just zipped her mouth shut. I could feel the cold stares that mom and dad were throwing at me upon hearing what Precious said.
“Hey! Are you still in there?! Come on, no one will report you to your dad and mom!”
Stupid, they’re here, in front of me!
“No, I-I'm studying,” I trembled. I fake a cough to swallow the lump that was stuck in my throat. I'm doomed. Next time, I’ll take note to block their number whenever mom and dad are around.
“Come on, you only go here twice! Wait, did you just tremble?” she asked, still drunk. Oh God, can you make her shut up? I pinched myself and tightened the grip on the cellphone I was holding. “Are you okay? Should I call the police now?”
“No, I didn’t tremble. I’m okay,” I said in a monotone. “You’re drunk, go home already, stop drunk calling. Bye.” Without even her consent, I ended the call and sat properly, waiting to be scolded by dad and mom.
