I reluctantly ventured into the bustling mall, seeking something specific, despite my aversion to crowded spaces. I had hoped to find what I needed quickly, but after scouring the store, I came up empty-handed. Frustrated, I approached the receptionist at the counter, intending to voice my complaint. However, as I spoke, I noticed her gaze lingering on my face rather than meeting my eyes, her nodding a mere courtesy. I shrugged it off, thinking she wasn't my type anyway. Just then, my inner wolf stirred, its instincts prickling as it sensed a familiar presence drawing near. I felt no hostility emanating from this person, but a nagging sense of recognition teased my mind. Before I could pinpoint it, a gentle collision occurred, and a soft 'ouch' escaped the lips of the person who had bumped into me. I heard her apologetic voice, but my attention was fixed on the face that would soon meet mine. As she lifted her head, our eyes locked, and I was struck by the warmth of her 'honeyed eyes', Surprise etched on my face, I froze, my mind racing to place where I had seen those eyes before. The familiarity was undeniable, and I was determined to uncover the connection. As our eyes met, she scrutinized me with an intensity that left me wondering what questions swirled in her mind. But before I could decipher her thoughts, she swiftly turned and fled, her hasty departure leaving me perplexed. I was left pondering. Was it truly Honeyed Eyes, or was my mind playing tricks on me again', The resemblance was uncanny, but if it was indeed her, why had she vanished so abruptly? Our past encounter had been a pleasant one, and I recalled it vividly, unable to fathom why she would flee from me now. I attempted to shake off the encounter, but my mind lingered on her face, our familiarity, and the little memories we shared. And then, fate brought us together once more. This time, I was prepared. I gently tapped her shoulder, and she turned, her head moving first, followed by her body, as if poised to flee again. But I held her firmly, my grip gentle yet unyielding, determined not to let her escape this time. "Honeyed Eyes, long time no see," I said, my voice low and husky, with a hint of amusement. She had transformed significantly since our last meeting, yet her beauty had only intensified. Her features were perfectly sculpted, her eyes still radiating that unmistakable warmth. I released her hands when I realized she was replaying our past conversation in her mind, her thoughts written across her face like an open book. The memory filled me with mirth, and I couldn't help but chuckle at the recollection. Her embarrassment was palpable, her cheeks flushing with a delicate hue, making her even more captivating. As I gazed into her eyes, I knew I had to shield her from the prying eyes of my entourage. I dismissed them with a subtle nod, ensuring they wouldn't objectify her with their gaze. Stone, my trusted confidant, understood my unspoken command, keeping a discreet distance while still watching over us. Stone's voice whispered in my mind through our mental link. "Boss, are you certain this is the one? It's been ages, and she's blossomed into a stunning woman. What if her face is just a resemblance?" I growled, my possessiveness piqued, and he swiftly apologized. I knew she was my Honeyed Eyes, the one I longed to claim as mine. As she reached for her card, I gently took it from her hand. "You don't need to pay when I'm here," I said, my voice low and husky. She smiled, and I paid for the groceries, our fingers touching as I handed her the bags. The spark between us was palpable. We strolled to a nearby seating area, the tension between us crackling like electricity. I broke the silence, "I never got to thank you for being my hero all those years ago." She chuckled, "You were so clueless, I had to save you!" I laughed, my eyes crinkling at the corners. "You looked at me like I was a lost puppy, you had to rescue me!" She playfully rolled her eyes. "I see you've grown into your confidence and charisma." We chatted, our conversation flowing like a gentle stream, until she glanced at her watch. "I should go," she said, her voice tinged with reluctance. "I'm glad we met again, but you never told me your name before you vanished," She said and I smiled. "Robert, but you can call me Rob for short." She raised an eyebrow. "I'm never calling you Rob," and I grinned. "I'm Janet by the way," She said with smiles all over her face. "I'm glad to meet you, Honeyed eyes," I replied. "Please, stop calling me Honeyed Eyes, okay? it's f*****g weird." I agreed while laughing over it. "I would still call you honeyed eyes, silly," I said, and took her phone, my fingers brushing against hers as I dialed my number into it. Janet's eyes sparkled with surprise as I offered, "Call me anytime, I'll always be there for you." She nodded, about to turn away, when her gaze collided with Stone's towering figure. His chiseled features and rugged physique could intimidate even the most fearless warriors. I quickly reassured her, "Don't be afraid, Janet, he's my friend, my brother in arms." Stone's uncertainty was palpable as Janet extended her hand, his eyes darting between her and me like a trapped animal. I nodded, encouraging him to greet her, and he finally spoke, his deep voice a gentle rumble. "I'm Stone." Janet took his hand, and with a surprising strength, pulled him into a warm, embracing fold. Stone's stiffness was evident, but Janet seemed to sense the depth of his emotions, the weight of his secrets. As I watched, my eyes wide with wonder, Stone's imposing frame surrendered to her compassion. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, his massive arms wrapping around her torso like a shield. His gentle gesture belied his deadly assassin nature, and I saw the tension in his body begin to unravel. Janet's words were a balm to his soul. "You don't have to act tough and intimidating." I squinted, amazed by the unexpected turn of events. The gentle way Janet had disarmed Stone's defenses was a testament to her kindness and empathy, a reminder that even the most hardened warriors need comfort and understanding. As I watched, Stone's imposing frame trembled, his eyes brimming with tears, a rare and unsettling sight. What's going on here? I wondered, my mind racing with questions. Stone, the formidable assassin, wasn't one to show emotions, so why didn't he push Janet away? The question swirled in my mind like a vortex. Then, like a puzzle piece clicking into place, I remembered, he had lost his mother just a week ago. Was he crying because Janet's hug had consoled him, offering a fleeting sense of comfort in his grief? Had I been too hard on him, pushing him to his limits without considering the depth of his pain? After what felt like an eternity, but was only a few minutes, Janet released Stone from her embrace, her eyes filled with a deep understanding. "I should get going, it's already late," she said, her voice gentle as a summer breeze. I offered, "You sure you don't need me to follow you?" but she declined, her smile a ray of sunshine. "No, boss, I'm fine. Bye, see you another time." I helped her hail a taxi, the yellow cab disappearing into the night like a firefly. Turning to Stone, I asked, "Are you okay now?" He nodded, his eyes still glistening with tears, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm fine, just a little emotional," But then his expression changed, like a storm cloud gathering on the horizon. "Alpha, I have news, the Black Mist Pack is active again." My expression turned cold, my mind racing with strategies and tactics. "Gather the others at our site. We'll discuss this and decide if it's time to take them out, just like we did with the Crystal Blue Pack and Nightshade Pack." Stone stood at the center of the dimly lit underground chamber, his eyes scanning the gathering of confident rogues like a general surveying his troops. The air was thick with tension, heavy with the weight of anticipation, as he began to speak, his voice low and urgent. "Alpha Rogue, we have a situation. Sebastian and his trustees are searching for us, and they're ready for war. They won't stop until they've crushed us all." The room erupted into a chorus of murmurs and gasps, each rogue expressing their own shock and concern. Viper, the sleek and deadly assassin, spoke up first, her voice like a razor's edge. "We knew this day would come. Sebastian's been sniffing around for months, trying to uncover our hideouts. He's got a personal vendetta against us." Raven, the mysterious and enigmatic strategist, nodded in agreement, her eyes gleaming with a hint of excitement. "We've been preparing for this moment. Our defenses are strong, but we need to be proactive. We can't let them dictate the terms of this war. We need to take the initiative." Nova, the fiery and impulsive young rogue, snarled, his voice a low growl. "I say we take the fight to them. We can't just sit back and wait for them to come to us. We need to show them the true meaning of rogue strength." After hearing all their suggestions and points, some valid, while some invalid. I raised a hand, silencing the room with a gesture of authority. "We'll not be rash. We'll plan and coordinate our attack. Stone, what's the extent of their forces?" Stone's expression turned grim, his eyes clouding with concern. "From what I've gathered, they have a significant number of trustees and mercenaries at their disposal. They're well-armed and well-trained. We'll need to be strategic in our approach." The room fell silent once more, each rogue lost in thought, weighing the gravity of the situation. Finally, I spoke up, my voice firm and resolute. "We'll not back down. We'll defend our territory and our way of life. Let's get to work, rogues. We have a war to win. Let's show Sebastian and his trustees the true meaning of rogue strength. I have long waited to confront them one and one, and destroy each and everyone of them just like I did to the other packs and I'm definitely not backing down now or ever."
