“How did this happen?” Dante’s gaze went cold. “Who?” He clocked the gun in his hand, and my heart jumped.
Wait what?
Attack? What are they talking about?
What’s going on?
“Lucien. It’s Lucien’s guys.” Marcel said. “I don’t know boss, they attacked us out of the blue, we didn’t sniff a thing until they came and now, they’ve taken down most of the men. You need to leave now.” Marcel told Dante.
“What’s going on?” Fear began to fill my heart.
“And leave my territory? Never.” No one bothered to answer me, as Dante spoke.
“Boss, we can always plan ahead, but I think you should leave us here and go. They are outnumbering us.” Marcel had urgency in his eyes, but not just that.
He was scared too.
“End of discussion Marcel. I need to put bullets in some heads and teach some a lesson.” Dante’s words rose the hairs on my skin. “What I need you to do is take Elena and get out of here. I will join you later.” Dante said.
“What? No..I…” I didn’t even know what I was saying, but I didn’t know which was more scarier, knowing that it seemed an enemy was launching an attack at Dante’s door or the fact that he would leave me to run with his men.
But it seemed he wanted to keep me alive. Dante wanted to keep me alive.
“Boss…” Marcel tried to resist.
“Don’t make me repeat myself Marcel. Go, we’re at war!” Dante’s voice rose, showing he was giving no room for debate anymore.
“Yes boss.” Marcel nodded, as he dragged me by the arm.
“What? No…no…Dante…” For someone who hated the guts and likes of Dante, I was hesitant to go with Marcel.
“Go Elena!” Dante’s gaze held a certain kind of solemnity I hadn’t seen before.
“We need to go now.” Marcel pulled me again, as we were now some steps away from Dante. My gaze moved from Dante’s own in a swift second as gunshot now filled inside the house.
“s**t, they’re in.” Marcel cursed as he dragged me to take cover, while bullets flew around.
“Oh my God, what’s happening?” Marcel and I ran to hide behind a wall.
“We have to leave, but they blocked the exit.” Marcel said.
“What are we going to do now?” I asked Marcel, whereas my gaze looked from where we hid and I saw Dante fighting through the men that attacked, as he killed them one after the other. And if he wasn’t putting bullets in some, he was beating some up.
“There is another exit but we can’t pass now. That’s why the boss is trying to clear.” Marcel explained to me. “And I should be there with him,” I saw the loyalty Marcel had for Dante in his eyes, as he feared for him, and it looked like he was ready to lay his life too.
“Why would you lay down your life for someone like Dante?” The words came out of my mouth.
“Because he would too.” Marcel answered me immediately and I turned to look at him.
“Dante? Someone like Dante can?” My gaze furrowed, whereas when the gunshot even became more, we saw some of Dante’s men join him, as they fought together.
“You may not know Miss Elena, but Dante is more that what he shows. He has…compassion.” Marcel told me. “He may be ruthless, but that is towards betrayal and doesn’t listen to anything else after that. Dante is the reason I’m alive today.” Marcel added, and my perplexity only widened, while I turned back to where the fight was and saw Dante. He was fast, faster than I have ever seen anyone move, as what marcel told me, I saw it with my own eyes as he protected his men, and even when some got shot, he made sure to drag their bodies away.
Sweat began to cover my head, as my fear worsened, with men shouting and gunshots are the only things that filled my ears. My hands began to tremble, as every turn I faced, there were either dead bodies or enemies.
“We need to leave now.” Marcel said. “You see that turn by our left, that’s where we’re going. You move in front of me and I follow behind. There’s a chopper waiting already for us.” Marcel added and I nodded. I followed Marcel’s instructions as we began moving, and we were almost at the turn he mentioned, when a scary man faced me and pointed a gun to my head.
“Ahhh,” My scream echoed through the room, as fear was my first response.
“Drop it.” Marcel pointed a gun back.
“You drop it or she dies.” Th scary man told Marcel, with a smirk on his lips. “It seems we’ve found Dante’s jewel.” He mentioned. “Drop it.” A gulp went down my throat, as I saw Marcel about to drop his gun with a hardened gaze, but just as he was about to, a hole came through the man’s forehead, whereas my body went stiff as I saw the space a bullet from behind had created in his head, before he fell to the ground.
Dante. Dante shot him from behind.
“I thought I asked you to go!” Dante looked furious.
“They blocked the exit.” Marcel told him, where’s Dante’s breath heaved.
“Let’s go.” Dante now held my hand in his, as he took me with me, while Marcel followed behind. “You run when I say run Elena.” I couldn’t tell if Dante was scolding me or worried, but his grip on my hand was as firm as a tape.
From behind, we heard Marcel grunt, as we turned and saw some men had grabbed Marcel and now stood in from of us. Marcel was able to get free, as he shot one them and Dante took it from there and shot the others, for when he tried to shoot again, the gun he held was out of bullets and Dante dropped the gun to the ground instantly, and sent a punch to the guy.
He seemed to have knocked him out, whereas Marcel fought the others, and I only stood still stupidly and fearfully in the middle of a war I had I had no idea of.
“Dante,” My voice shook with fear, as I called Dante’s name with trembling lips, with a gum now pointed to my head.
“Let her go.” Dante stood up from the floor, whereas Marcel was still fighting off the others.
“My orders was to put a bullet through.” The man with happiness that filled him to kill me, said. “And that’s what I’m doing.” He pulled the trigger.
“Nooo!” I fell to the ground, my eyes going straight to the ceiling, whereas I heard another gunshot. My body felt heavy, as I gasped for breath with the heaviness I felt and when I lowered my gaze, blood filled me and not just that, Dante’s body was on top of mine, with my hands around his back, as when I looked at them, blood covered my hands.
But, it wasn’t my blood.
“Dante…” I pulled Dante away, as blood gushed from his chest. His heart area to be precise, while he gasped for breath and the ones that came out, came up with blood. “No…no…no Dante….” My hands trembled with blood in them.
“Boss!” Marcel came to us, as he kneeled down to I and Dante and stared in horror, before our gaze merged
“I…I didn’t know…he came in front of me.” Shock overwhelmed my whole body, as I pressed against Dante’s chest, but he was loosing more blood than I could press against. “No…no Dante…please, please stay with me!”
