CHAPTER 3

After consoling Manik, both (Manik and cabir) came back to the stage where Nandini was standing with fab 3 manik doesn't liked it. He was about to lash out at Nandini but saw that she was genuinely laughing. He stood there admiring her. Cabir observed all his facial changes and thought only Nandini could help him to bring back the old manik.

After some 10 mins, both went on the stage and Manik held Nandini by her waist. He pulled her to himself and spoke

Manik: Nandu, are you hungry?

Nandini (politely): No.

Manik acknowledged it and Mukti and Aliya again started talking to her, standing beside her left as Manik was on her right side. Guests kept on coming and having a word with Manik. And he patiently greeted everyone but never left Nandu's side.

Soon the ceremony ended with a couple's dance. In dance, Nandini felt that she could trust Manik, as he was very careful and protective towards her. Which was obvious to everyone who was present in the hall.

By the end, everyone has left except Nandini's family and fab3.

Manik: Uncle, I want to show Nandini the mansion. As hardly 15 days are left for marriage, I want her to know the ways in the mansion before itself. I think it will be easy for her.

Uncle: OK son, I don't have any problem.

Manik takes Nandini with him and shows her every corner of the mansion and also their room and her closet, without any naughtiness this time, as he knows he has to pamper her.

After sometime, even Murthy' left the mansion. At that time, fab 3 bombarded Cabir with questions as how can Manik marry an 18-year-old girl. Having no interest in responding to them, Manik retrieved to his room and slept, thinking about Nandu.

Here in the living area, fab 3 felt bad for his behaviour but accepted it as they deserved it.

Cabir: listen guys Nandini is in danger as her aunt and Soha are jealous of her and want to get her married to a 40-year-old man for money. So Manik has to take this step to save her. And he has been following her for a year, so he knows better about nandu than us. So, chill.

With that, he left to get some sleep. But this information was shocking for them as Manik was never like this after that incident. So, they now have hope the Nandu can change this monster.

AFTER 15 days (I.e. the wedding day)

(Guys, I am not mentioning every step of the wedding ritual.)

Soon after the wedding, Manan took every elder's blessing and our Nandu was crying as she could see all her dreams were crashed and would also miss her uncle very much. Aunt and Soha are trying to be fake sad.

Uncle came and hugged Nandu with one hand and with another hand held manik's hand.

Uncle: Manik take care of her. She is naive and innocent. Support her and trust her please, as she needs it most. And I have seen how much she craves it.

Manik nodded and assured him. After that, they went to Malhotra's mansion, which was dwelled like a bride, and played the finding the ring game where Nandu won it. Cabin was the happiest person there to see Nandu would rule the Manik and their marriage life (Guys, this is one of the Indian things which is played after marriage and elders say that whoever wins it, they will rule the marriage life which is in between the married couple). He was dancing around Nandu, saying she was the best, and Nandu was clueless as to what was happening and what was wrong with Cabir. Everyone smiled at his antics, but our Manik was irritated. So, he cleared his throat and spoke

Manik: we are going to our room as the rituals are tiring and we need rest.

Everyone accepted it as they were hell tired with the events. Soon everyone departed to the room. In the room, Manik asked Nandu to change in the closet and sleep as she would be tired. Without any argument, Nandu did as he said. Manik too changed himself into comfortable clothes and slept hugging her. In his sleep, Nandu was snuggling with manik like a baby does to mother for warmth and he smiled, looking at his baby.

The next day was Nandu's 1st day in the kitchen and she just knew milk sweet so she cooked that. And everyone praised her and gave her gifts. Nandu was happy. Soon, Manik leaves for the office with Cabir and Raj Malhotra. Nandu was alone and was bored being at home. She thought about watching TV, but after a period of time she was bored of watching it as nothing was interesting. So, she slept for some time and was thinking about how to call Manik or anyone. She doesn't even have a phone and, even having a landline in the house, she doesn’t know the manik's number. It was past lunch time when she had lunch that too very little. Then moved to the kitchen...

Nandini: Uncle...

House helper: Yes ma’am, do you need anything??

Nandini: No…. it’s just that…...

House helper: Tell me child… don’t hesitate.

Nandini: Do… you have his phone number?

House helper: Whose number?

Nandini: His number…. Manik’s phone number uncle.

She was so embarrassed to ask, hence, by the end, she closed her eyes. He chuckled and gave her the number. Immediately, Nandu gave him a ring via landline...

Manik was so engrossed in work that he failed to recognise that his phone had been ringing for 10 mins... and here Nandu was afraid all the negative thoughts were overpowering her. As she doesn’t have anyone except him to call her. After almost 10 to 11 rings, Manik picked up the phone and saw it was the home landline. With a frown on his face, he lifted up the call. And heard Nandu's sniffs. And was shocked....

Manik: Nandini, is that you... what happened? Why are you crying? Did someone say anything to you? Please tell me what happened...

Nandini: Can you please come back home soon....

Manik: I will be there in 20 mins... stop crying...

Manik hurriedly left the office after informing his P.A to handle things about the office... He was in Malhotra mansion in exactly 20 mins... he rushed to his room, where he saw the room empty, making him frown. He checked washroom, closet. And then he went to the balcony where he saw Nandu curled up like a ball in one corner and was crying, historically. Soon Manik rushed to her and took her in his embrace. Then he sat there with her in his lap. After almost 20 mins or so, he lifted her face and cleared all the tears. And nodded no, Nandu sniffed lightly and gave him a small smile. She knew she could trust him, but completely it was a question for her. Manik took her inside and, after locking the balcony, came and sat beside her, gave her water to drink and asked her what actually happened.

Nandu was in a dilemma about whether to disclose it to him or not. As she was scared that he would get angry at her for behaving childishly, one question was running in her mind. That, because of her childishness, would also leave her like her parents as she was still in that trauma where she saw her parents die in front of her. So, she was staring at his face with frowns.

After about 5 mins, the manik moved close to her and hugged her. Nandini just wanted him to always be by her side, always. She didn’t know this feeling but pushed herself more into him. Manik saw that she was pushing herself towards him. So, he gently took her in his lap and hugged her while stroking her hair. She started rubbing her nose on his chest and inhaling his cologne. Manik smiled at his childish lady love. He pulled her more to him and let her do whatever she wanted. The only thing which was disturbing him was why Nandini was crying and asking him to come home soon.

After, for about 5-8 mins, Nandu looked at his face just by lifting her face a little. And asked him...

Nandini: will you also leave me like how mom and daddy left me?

Manik frowned but quickly nodded no. Stroking her hair lovingly. He asked...

Manik: what happened baby... why this question...... did I make any mistake.... Or someone said something to you.... Please share it with me.......

Nandini: voooo... if I tell you the reason, will you think I am being childish and then will you leave me because I am childish?

Manik: no baby.... I love your childishness... so I will not leave you at any cost in this life.

Nandini: Ummmmm. Can I trust you?

Manik: Of course, baby...... I promise I will never ever break your trust. Please tell me what happened....

Nandini: hmmm........... after you guys left to work.... I was all alone...... I was bored...... I took a nap, watched TV...... Then I arranged my things and cleaned our room a little according to my taste...... (Then, she looked at him again to see if he was angry, but he still had that smiling face and those eyes, a just showed his love towards her. ) Then after roaming in this big house, I had little lunch..... I wanted to call you but I don't have a phone and I don't even know how to use it. As aunty never gave me one from childhood. She used to scold and beat me if I touched the landline also...... (his grip on her increased. Nandu again placed her forehead on his chest and closed her eyes.) So, I went to the kitchen and took your number from the house helper....... I was so embarrassed as I was your wife, I didn't even know anything about you, not even your phone number. (Manik smiled and kissed her head) After thinking a lot, I ringed you but it went unanswered. So, I got scared (she held him tight in her little hands) because I don't have anyone to call mine except you. Mom and dad left me for aunty and went away. So, I got scared? Would you also leave me like that? As I don't want to lose you. (Her voice choked and Manik started rubbing her back while she held him tight) please don't leave me. I know I am childish and just 18. Aunty even told me I can't fulfil your needs and desires until I don’t know anything. But I have no one except you to call mine and I promise I will change the way you want. I promise I will learn everything and provide you with everything you expect and want. Please don't leave me...

With this, she again started crying. After consoling her. Manik made her look at his face and said, pulling her close to him.

Manik: Listen to me carefully baby. I am not going to leave you in this life. So don't think like that. I know because of the incidents in your life you started thinking like this. But I am there for you now and forever. So don't think I will leave my baby. And coming to changing yourself, please don't I love how you are. I love your childish nature. I love it when you rub your face on my chest. I know it has been just 1 day, but I love everything you do. So don't you dare try to change yourself. And coming to my needs and desires, then I would say it can wait. I really don't have any problem. First, I want to spend time with you to think about anything. I want to treat my kid. I want you to achieve something on your own. Okay, do you understand me??

Nandini (with tears): Thank you............... can I join college.? I have completed my 12th with good marks. I want to become a scientist. And I even get bored sitting at home. I don't know what to do. So can I join the college please...

Manik: You don't have to say please baby. You can attend college. I will have a word with Cabir and will ask him to search a nice college for you, okay....

Nandini (smiling brightly): Really…...

Manik (with a content smile): Yes.

Manik: And about the phone, you will get your phone tomorrow. And I will tell you how to use it okay.

He said to her, removing her hair from her cheek. While Nandu just nodded her head.

After 10 mins, Manik saw time and called his pa.

Manik: listen Akash... I am not in the office and also, it's 4 and the office will close by 6 Soo, mange these 2 hours. And schedule the appointments or meetings for tomorrow. If anything is important, then only call me. You get it.

Akash: Yes sir. I will handle it here.

Manik: good and also ask someone to send the latest iPhone by tomorrow evening with an activated sim. You handle the billing and everything.

Akash: okay sir.

Manik: cool bye.

With this he saw that Nandu was dozing off by sitting on him. He didn't want to wake her up or disturb her. So, he also took a nap. After an hour, Manik woke up and saw that Nandu was still clinging to him. He smiled at his baby. And untangled himself slowly and moved to freshen up. After that, he went down, closing the door and adjusting the comforter and ac. While coming down, he saw Cabir and fab 3 sitting in the living room and talking about something. So, he just went and sat beside the cabir.

Cabir: Youuu...... what are you doing here? I mean you were supposed to be in the office. And let me guess you look like you just woke up....

Manik sighed and said...

Manik: At lunch time, Nandu called me from landline and when I lifted the call after rejecting her 10 calls. She was crying, so I just came back to see what happened. Then by 4 I somehow put her to sleep and took an hour's nap, as anyway, I had to come back by 6.

Cabir: Good that you stayed with her. But what has happened? Why was she crying?

Manik: vooooo....... She got scared bro... that I would leave her like her mom and dad. As I didn't lift her calls. So, she just got insecure...... and cabir search for a nice college.

Cabir: Don't tell me you are going to study again......

Manik (irritated): Cabir please.... Search a nice college for Nandu. As she is getting bored being at home. And moreover, she wants to become a scientist. This is the 1st thing she asked me in the whole day of marriage. So, search for a nice, secure college for her...

Cabir smiled and nodded. Fab 3 felt bad as he didn't even look at them. But were happy to see him happy and see his little changes. After about 5 mins, Nandu came down while rubbing her eyes and saw that Manik was sitting talking to cabir. So, she just moved to him and hugged Manik by sitting beside him. Manik felt that someone was hugging him and when he turned his face to his left a smile appeared on his face. He saw Nandu snuggling towards him like a baby. He had just started stroking her hair. Cabir and fab 3 had a smile looking at them. They saw that Manik had a content smile on his face. It has been missing for years.

Cabir: So, hasn't this baby slept too long? I mean nandu look at you. You are so lazy.

Nandini (lifting her head a little to see Cabir): What to do bro? I am bored and I have nothing to do....

And she pouted saying this ... Manik just wanted to kiss that pout but stopped himself.

Cabir: True that...

Then nandu observed Fab 3. She smiled at Dhruv and went and hugged Aliya and Mukti. And again, she came back to her place beside Manik and hugged him by placing her head on his chest and spoke.

Nandini: Mukti sis, when did you all come?

Fab 3 smiled at her as someone other than cabir recognised them.

Mukti: Long back. When you are sleeping.

Nandini: Can I call you all sisters and bros?

She asked, looking at them. While with tears they accepted.

Cabir (with a bright smile): Whatever you want Sweetie. So can we fab 4 call you sweetie.

Nandu nodded smilingly.

Cabir: So, sweetie, what about Manik? Will you call him also bro?

Fab 3 controlled their laugh by looking at Manik's face. While Manik was shocked...

Manik: Shut up you i***t. I am anything but brother to her.

And looked at Nandu, smiled shyly and said...

Nandini: voooo...... I will think about that cabir bro...

Everyone smiled, looking at her and went to their respective rooms to freshen up after having snacks. After dinner, everyone returned to their room.

Next day, Manik received a phone as, while coming back, he saw the delivery person entering inside the gate. He went to his room and saw that Nandu was re-arranging things in the room. After freshening up, both went down at the same time cabir entered the mansion. After sitting on the couch....

Cabir: Soo manik, why don't we take admission into space itself for sweetie. See first, we know everything about it and, as we studied over there, it will be safe for Sweetie too.

Manik: Cabir I don't mind, but Neyonika will be there. I don't want Nandu to face Neyonika. You know right how is she?

(So, Guy's Nyonika is Manik’s biological mom but never behaved like a mom. When Manik was in 10th grade, he found out that she was sleeping with Aliya’s elder brother and she was cheating on his dad. So, after 6 months, Raj and Neyonika got divorced and Raj took manik’s responsibility. Neyonika tried to spoil Manik’s life in every possible way but was not successful. Manik is scared because she is a manipulative and witty woman.)

Cabir: Yes, I know, but even you are the other trusty to that college. So, because I think it's better for her. And also, we can handle neyonika. And tomorrow you go and have a word with the principal. I am sure she will get a seat easily.

Manik thought for a second and said OKAY. Nandu was happy as she was finally going to pursue her career. She just ran to cabir and hugged him. While they smiled at her.

Next morning... while having breakfast, Manik spoke. (Guys everyone is there. Fab 3, Manik, Nandu, cabir, Nandu’s uncle, aunty and Soha except Raj as he went to a business meeting. Everyone was having breakfast silently)

Manik: Nandu, listen to me, you have your phone right. If you see, I have saved my number and Cabir's number, so without thinking twice, call us if you face any problem. Okay?

Nandu nodded her head. While Aunty and Soha did not like this...

Aunt: Son, why did you call us early this morning? Soha has to go to college. You know she is a space student.

Manik smiled and spoke

Manik: I know aunty. Actually, I am one of the trusties to that college. So, I got to know that you transferred Nandu's scholarship to Soha's name. Technically, it's nandu's right.

While aunty and soha have a faint smile...

Manik: And uncle, it's just that I thought it was better for her to continue her studies. So, I am taking her admission into space. I just wanted to have a word regarding this with you. Are you okay with it?

Uncle (with a broad smile on his face): More than okay beta. You know it was her dream to achieve something like her dad.

Manik while holding her hands...

Manik: I will fulfil her every dream and wish uncle.

Uncle just blessed them. Soon they finished their breakfast and, before leaving the house with Manik Nandu, went towards fab 3.

Nandini: Can I also get your number too? Mukti and aliya sis? And Dhruv bro, you too?

They nodded their heads smilingly and gave her their number.

Manik: Can we go now baby??

Nandu nodded smilingly and with this everyone left their respective works. Here Soha was planning to take her mobile and insult her in college. As she did not like Nandu getting such a rich and handsome husband.

Soon after entering college, Manik gathered everyone in the auditorium. All the girls and boys from all the branches were standing there and waiting for Manik to tell everyone the matter.

Manik: So, guys, I know you must be shocked and worried and why have I called you guys? So, the thing is, I am married and as my wife's aunt didn't allow her to complete her studies, I took admission for her in this college. I hope everyone behaves better with her. Because if I see a single drop of tear in her eyes, I swear you don't want to see the monster in me. So, you had better behave well. And one more thing. Someone named Soha Murthy is studying here. I don't know her branch and everything so I am telling you guys she is cousin sister of my wife. If my wife faces any trouble caused by her directly and indirectly through anyone. I will make sure to spoil their lives as well as, and I will dig their graves with my own hands.. AM I CLEAR???

Everyone: Yeee.. Yess... SIR......

Manik: Good, so let me introduce my beautiful wife.

He went and brought Nandu. His hands were on her waist clutching it, slowly showing his right on her to everyone.

Manik: So, this is NANDINI MANIK MALHOTRA. My WIFE. You all better be good. Or else you know the MONSTER I am.

And turning to Nandu.

Manik: Are you willing to join from today or tomorrow??

Nandini: I will join from today, but my books and all.

Manik: it's in your locker. I will give you the keys. I guess the keys are in my cabin.

Nandu nodded while Manik just kissed her side of the head... and dispersed everyone. While he moved to his cabin with Nandu in full on attitude. Neyonika and Soha fumed in anger, but they know they can't do anything or else they have to face the monster.

After that, Manik gave her the keys and, after leaving her near her classroom door. He went to the office but not before instructing nandu and the whole college once again. Even the watchmen, canteen people, and the other workers in college know that she is Manik Malhotra's wife and they have to be really very careful around her. Or else they have to face the monster which they don’t want to.
