CHAPTER 2

After Malhotra's family left, Aunty and Soha were happy that now Nandini would leave the house permanently. But uncle was sad as he would miss his nandu. As he couldn’t do anything, he accepted that but he made sure that she would get all her parent’s property after she got married. After dinner, everyone in the Murthy mansion went back to their room and slept. Nandu accepted her fate and slept without much thinking.

Here Manik was happy as he really liked nandu and he couldn’t forget her. His mind was recalling that image of her when she was getting down the stairs wearing a sexy saree. He wanted to marry her as she was cute yet got scared of small things. She has a cute smile with innocent eyes.

Manik was thinking about all this and just then, Cabir, his best friend, came to the lobby with his other friends. Manik was in his thoughts, so he didn’t observe his surroundings.

Cabir: Hey bro. Come out from my sister’s thought’s.

With this, he came out of his thoughts and saw that Cabir came with some unwanted and uninvited people. Manik ignored them and replied to Cabir.

Manik: I am going to marry her, so she is my future wife and fiancé.

Cabir: Bro, have some patience. The engagement is not even done yet, and here you are dreaming about her being your wife.

Manik made a whatever face and dialled someone's number and the rest of everyone smiled at them.

PHONE CONVO

Manik: Dad, I want to get married to Nandu as soon as possible. So check with Murthy and the priest and arrange our engagement in 2 days. And the marriage should be within 15 days.

MANIK'S dad: But Manik meet her for 1 or 2 weeks, then decide. Don't take decisions so vaguely. Please think about it.

Manik: Dad, whenever I make a decision, did I do anything wrong? You know right I won’t take decisions bluntly. And about Nandini. Then dad, what do you know about her?

MANIK'S dad: She is from middle class and an 18-year-old girl.

Manik, with a smile, answered him.

Manik: Dad, her parents are dead. Nandini's uncle and aunty looked after her. But as she is more beautiful than Soha, her aunt and Soha envy her. And Nandini wants to study more and she even got a scholarship, but her aunty somehow transferred that scholarship to Soha’s name. Nandini's aunt wants her out of her family ....

After a pause, Manik added one more thing: dad, aunty and Soha want all her property and, guess what, Nandini doesn't even know that there is a company out there in her name and she is the sole owner of it.

Everyone was shocked by listening to this, even Raj Malhotra was shocked as he didn't expect. After some time recovering from the shock.

MANIK'S dad: she faced allot. But how come you know all this?

Manik smiled and spoke.

Manik: Dad the moment I saw her uncomfortable in that saree today. I knew something was wrong so I told my person to get me her full information. And here we are. So please, dad, please make sure that the engagement is in 2 days and the marriage is in 15 days. It's my request to you.

MANIK'S dad smiled at him as he was requesting for the 1st time and thought that maybe Nandini would change him. Maybe Nandini can bring back the old Manik, who used to be a prankster, naughty, cute (though he is always a cute guy), a happy, loving and full of joy person. But he also knows that some secrets are yet to be revealed from Manik and Raj just prayed to God that Manik should open up to Nandini.

After the call, Manik was still thinking about his nandu. He liked her. He wanted to protect her. And he knows that she is just accepting her fate and sacrificing everything. First thing, he has to make her strong. He can't make her weak by being sympathetic. But he also knows that being with her he will turn soft towards her.

Here Manik was lost in his thoughts and everyone saw that.

Cabir: Manik baby... Nandu is very beautiful na.

Ma (absent minded): Yes...

Cabir (with an evil smile): You love her right?

Ma: ye....

Realisation hit Manik and he composed himself before saying yes... and looking at Cabir.

Manik: What is your problem?

Cabir (with an evil smile): Nothing I got my answer ... come inside, it's getting cold... and I guess we should sleep... Tomorrow morning a priest will visit us for your marriage thing.

Nodding to him, everyone moved inside... and fab3 (Aliya, Mukti, Dhruv) moved to their flat. It is near to the Malhotra mansion. In 1st, fab 5 used to stay in the same mansion, but now only Cabir lives there with Raj Malhotra and Manik.

Cabir just wishes that Manik should change for good and he has complete faith in Nandini that she can change him for good.

And even Fab 3 has hope that only Nandini can bring back their old Manik. They had a hope that they all could be like before FAB 5. Their only hope is Nandini.

And here Nandu slept without thinking anything. She knew that he was 8 years older than her. She was not ready for marriage and responsibilities, but she accepted her fate. And thought that even Manik and her father-in-law would treat her like how her aunt and Soha treat her. With these strange thoughts she went into deep slumber.

Next day, as Manik planned, everything went according to him. The engagement was in 2 days and the marriage was in 15 days. Aunt and Soha instantly said yes after listening to the dates. They were happy as Nandini would leave the house and they could enjoy all her property. But little did they don't know that her uncle had already transferred everything to Nandini’s name. Even Manik knew about his uncle's plan.Soon enough, it was the engagement day. Everyone was waiting for Nandini and Manik.

And after 5 mins, both Manik and Nandini entered royally by holding hands. Nandu was wearing a pink lehenga with embroidery on the hem. And Manik was wearing the same colour, plain kurta to colour coordinate with her.

The venue was beautifully decorated in a white theme. There were limited guests and the engagement rings had infinity symbols, to show that they would be together till infinity.

All very stunned by Nandini’s beauty. And Manik was holding her by her waist. He could sense the man's gaze which was full of lust.

The engagement ceremony was going on swing. Here Manik introduced Nandini to everyone except fab 3. They were disappointed, but they kind of expected that Manik would do that. So, they went near Nandini to introduce themselves.

Mukti: Hi, you are Nandini right.

Nandini just bobbed her head.

Aliya: Hi Nandini, I am aliya. Manik's friend. And that’s Mukti and Dhruv.

Nandini: hi...

Dh: So ....

Before he could continue, Manik pulled Nandini to himself. And spoke

Manik: What are you doing, Nandini... do you know them?

Fab 3 were hurt badly by this manik's behaviour.

Nandini: I don’t know them but they told me that they are your friends....

Manik: No, they are not waiting. I will call my one and only friend and my brother...

By saying this, he called cabir and in no time cabir came there.

Manik: He is cabir. The one and only friend I have...

Nandini: Hi....

Cabir saw fab 3 who had tears in their eyes.

Cabir (with a smile): Hi sister-in-law. As officially now, you are my sister-in-law, so I will only call you that.

Nandini: Please don’t... I am just 18 years old. So, if any of my friends will listen to this, then they will make fun of me.

Fab 4 was shocked as they didn’t know her age yet. They expected that she was in her twenties... like them.

Cabir: What... Manik, what is this? She is joking right.

Nandini: No… I am not joking or lying. I am telling the truth.

Nandini expressed everything innocently as she felt that mat be cabir can save her in Malhotra mansion after marriage.

Cabir nodded and dragged Manik with him, signalling fab 3 to take care of Nandini.

Outside, Cabir pushed Manik and shouted at him.

Cabir: Have you lost it, manik? She is just 18. She is still a child. Are you gone mad or f*****g lost it? I don’t think she is ready for this marriage and stuff.

Manik: I am trying to protect her. If I don’t marry her now, then her aunt might sell her or force her to get married to a 40-year-old man. So, I am protecting her.

Cabir: how by marrying her...

Manik: Yes.... You don’t know cabir... I have been stalking her for almost a year. And I have seen her being vulnerable and helpless before her aunt and Soha. You don’t know anything about her cabir.

Cabir saw tears in Manik's eyes. He was shocked, as MANIK MALHOTRA had never cried in his life had tears for this girl. One thing that was sure to Cabir was that his friend was madly in love with this girl. Cabir just hugged him and after a few minutes they both went inside the venue.
