The alpha lifted Abby in his arms and brought her close to his chest. The young woman could hear the alpha's rapid heartbeat, which relaxed her to the point of closing her eyes as she felt Samael slowly walking around the basement.
When she opened her eyes again, Abby noticed that she was in her room. She reached one hand to her throat, feeling the burning sensation in her throat. Unable to stop it, she began to cough as she struggled to remember how she had survived the attack of the ancient vampire.
She looked around, the room was empty, with no trace of the werewolf. For a moment, she doubted whether she was really alive or had died at the hands of that ancestral vampire.
