He couldn't shake off the feeling that Sophia was hiding something from him.
He decided to dig deeper into the Patel family's past, to see if he could uncover any secrets that might be relevant to the case.
As he sat at his desk, scrolling through old records and documents, he stumbled upon a surprising revelation.
Sophia's father, it seemed, had been involved in some shady dealings before his death.
There were allegations of embezzlement, money laundering, and even ties to organized crime.
Ethan's eyes widened as he read through the documents.

He knew he had to confront Sophia about this, to see how she would react.
He picked up the phone and dialed Sophia's number. "Sophia, we need to talk," he said, his voice firm.
Sophia's voice was hesitant on the other end of the line. "What's going on, Ethan?"
"I'll tell you when I see you," Ethan replied. "Meet me at the coffee shop on 5th street in 30 minutes."
Sophia agreed, and Ethan hung up the phone.
He couldn't help but wonder what she would say when he confronted her about her family's past.
As he arrived at the coffee shop, Sophia was already there, sipping on a cup of coffee.
Ethan sat down across from her, his eyes locked on hers.
"Sophia, I know about your father's past," Ethan said, his voice direct. "I know about the allegations of embezzlement and money laundering. What do you know about it?"
Sophia's expression changed, and for a moment, Ethan saw a glimmer of fear in her eyes. "I...I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered.
Ethan's eyes narrowed. "Don't lie to me, Sophia.
I have proof.... Your father was involved in some shady dealings. What do you know about it?"
Sophia took a deep breath, and then she began to tell a story that would change everything.
