Chapter 4 ( The finding)

734 Words
500 miles off  northeast of Nova, 2 July 20xx, The team of researchers on board the surveillance submarine NCS Beluga was entering the underwater cave of an unknown island seemed to be uninhabited by any human being from the drone's reconnaissance. They set off after the sphere portal device obtained from the Precursors started sending EM waves continuously on normal pulse of heartbeat. The Kaiju radar that was still functional indicated some signatures marked on the landscape of the island a bit far from their homeland. The radar only tasked to detect any extraterrestrial or unusual foreign organisms and give off initial warning to the Defense Cor to get ready to engage.         At first, the Nova government was in a state of shock from the aftermath of the earthquake they felt and now a newly threat emerged to make things worse. But then after two days of observation from border patrols and drone jaegers showed no signs of Kaiju breach so  far and this really peaked interest among the scientists to conduct a research trip to the island to know situation at hands better. Their proposal was approved by administration board and escorted by a fleet of 6 destroyers and cruisers from Brenada and Cavalier class ships of Nova Maritime & Navy Force. Upon entering the pathway of the cave, the team realized a mural carved on the wall inside of it and took a look of what it inscribed about. The art style of the mural resembled a mixture of Egyptian, Greek, Mesopotamian and Chinese civilizations dated back in history times. One of the researchers, Dr. Shimura noticed quite the similarities of the overall message conveyed by these mural. Whatever the people of this weird civilization live on, they seemed to be worshipping some kind of God of their own, much to the likes of the Egyptian in terms of the creature physical description. It appeared to be a lizard-like humanoid figure with long bulky tail and lots of sharp dorsal plates protruded on top of its back to its tail.  The deeper they went the more statues and building made of rocks and covered in weeds and moss of the ocean revealed along their way in until a shallow surface was within the view of the sub's crews. 8 people from the research department rode on the Mystic submersible accompanied by two navy men piloting the underwater vehicle to the surface. All of them were already in their biohazard suit in case of any sign of radiation pop out of nowhere.  As they got on land, they gazed on the surrounding of their ground. They might be in some sort of large temple hidden from the surface world, judging by the architectural design of the building they were in. There was a runway of stairs in front headed upward. Dr. Shimura lead the team to the destination the staircase would bring them to. Fifteen minutes wasted for climbing the case they reached a gateway to what looked like a main hall of gathering. More murals decorated the gate and inside the hall. The party got into the hall and observed the thing around. Then, they noticed a gleam of blue light emanated from the other side of the hall and decided to go and confirming visual.  What they saw surprised them so much, that they felt shiver ran down their spine. In front of them, laid on its abdomen was an enormous creature approximately about 899 feet long from head to tail lied dormant in a sleeping state. its snore echoed faintly throughout the temple, unbothered by their presence. The lights that they saw was coming from its dorsal plates, seemingly patterns of luminous lines on them flickered calmly like a heartbeat of a human.  Similar thing happened to the sphere before, which brought to their conclusion somehow the device and this giant monster were related in a way. For now, they have to depart away as soon as possible to avoid any unwanted attention from the slumbering beast. Quietly they made their way out to the Beluga and set sail back to Nova. They managed to take some documented photos of their finding to report back to the head of state of their discovery.  Unbeknownst to them, after they left, the beast opened its eyes, glowed menacingly in the dim lighting of the temple. Something had awoken it from its hibernation.
