Last Minute Favor

Hearing from Xander was less often as I would have liked, but I was happy or him and... Jennifer. I looked on his Snap Chat, i********:, and f*******: pages to keep up with this relationship. He posted pictures o everything. The place they had gone, the food they had eaten, the sunsets they watched, but she wasn't in any of the pictures. I thought it was still very odd that she didn't want to make their relationship public since they spent every waking moment together. I guess I'm trying to convince my self that it didn't bother me, but recently I had been feeling like I've lost my best friend. And that terrified me. So, you can imagine how surprised I was when I saw my phone ringing and it said "Xander". I could hear a bit of panic and guilt in his voice. "Hey Lee. It's been a little bit since we hung out. I realize that, but..." There had to be another reason now that he was calling. I entertained his call trying to figure out what it was that he was asking for. He knew I knew how he was when he wanted something, and there was no sense of denying that now. His boss was throwing a huge celebration party because they closed the deal. And because I helped, he wanted me to be there. "Not everyone knows about Jen and me. She doesn't want anyone to think that she's sleeping with the boss to get a leg up in the office. She's not going to be in two anyway. She had some family think she needed to go home for. Really, I'm calling to see if you would be my date." I didn't immediately give him an answer. I wanted him to grovel like I had "Kevin": grovel at my feet the other night. How convenient that Jennifer wasn't available for this party, but since he was so happy with her, and shady that she didn't want anyone to think she was sleeping with the boss to climb the corporate ladder. "Lee? Are you still there?" He began to plead with me on the phone, and I could hear the desperation in his voice. "When and where? And I'm holding that "I'll do anything" over your head. You better keep your promises and be prepared in the future." He laughed and promised so many times. He was right though, never a promise broken. After I got all of the information I had to make sure that it didn't interfere with my work schedule. I was scheduled for "Tom" and "Rita" the following night, so I was in the clear. Believe me, I was pissed when he told me that the party was tonight. He told me to dress causal. Xander had sent a message that he was going to be at my place in about ten minutes. I was still not dressed. It had taken me so long to get my hair together in a nice messy bun, and to make sure my make up was just right. And that's when I heard the knock at the door. Without hesitation, and fear of being later then we already were, I ran to the door. "Hey... " I felt his eyes look over my appearance from head to toe. I stood there only wearing my panties and a bra. Matching maroon cheek baring boy shorts, and lacy push up bra. "You said this was casual. Is there something wrong?" I hadn't bothered to see that he was wearing his frayed jeans, with black combat boots, a white V-neck t-shirt, and a gray cardigan. I realized that I missed this yumminess. "If this is what you call casual, I can only imagine what you would be wearing if I said this was a formal event. Wow!" I had known he was watching me shake my hips as I hurried back to my bedroom to get dressed. I had my cuffed knee frayed skinny jeans, a loose fitting olive colored tunic shirt, and a chunky maroon cardigan that matched the bra and panties I had on. I was able to wear my beige wedged shoes. The shirt was so loose I had to make sure to wear the maroon bra, and at least tucked the front of my shirt into my pants, letting it droop slightly. Throwing my bag across my chest I grabbed my keys and headed back out into the living room to meet with Xander again. "Don't tell me I have something on my shirt. I just found thee bra to match the rest of the outfit. This shirt actually fit a little different when I tried it on. Now it's like Dolly Parton has tried it on after me and stretched it out a bit." I held up the sides of the shirt so he was able to see what I was talking about. Not realizing that he was shying away from the fact that I was flashing my bra again. "There's nothing wrong. You just look so... beautiful." He stood there shaking his head in disbelief . I leaned and gave him a quick hug. But that wouldn't be me. We closed the doors to his car, and I couldn't help but ask. I couldn't help but think that there was more then just her sleeping the way to the top. He didn't look like he had heard me when the words left my mouth. But then I realized he was stalling to answer. "I'm her boss. And we wanted to keep things on the down low, because she was afraid it would show favoritism. She didn't want anyone to think that she slept her way to the top. So we agreed that I was the best thing to do to make sure that no one got the idea that we were together." That didn't sound like Xander, and the way he mentioned it, it didn't sound like he was happy about it either. He was a ladies man, and never shied away from anyone not knowing who he was dating. But I started to think that maybe Jennifer had ulterior motives for dating him. I didn't want to add in my two cents, because he was already questioning his relationship now. "Look, there was talk about a promotion. And the big boss is going to be there, the man who holds my future in his hands. I have to make a good impression." I punched him in the arm. "Good impression? Get the f**k outta here!" He laughed and told me that was the other reason he wanted me there. He said I was his good luck charm aside form the fact he was sure the boss man would want to meet me. It bothered me that I didn't know why Xander felt so insecure about himself. He had everything and conquered it all. I couldn't read the people that were close to me, and I hated that. "You don't need a lucky charm. I wasn't at your side each and every time." He joked about being an arms length distance from me. We were headed to Phelam Reservoir. His boss had a lake house up there. Very secluded and private. I didn't want him to have to worry about how the night would end up. "You'll be fine tonight. But I'll be on my best behavior."
