The morning light slips through the gauzy curtains, bathing the room in a soft golden haze. Elara stirs, her hand instinctively reaching for Damien beside her—only to grasp nothing but warm sheets. She blinks, groggy, then sits up with a groan. “Great,” she mumbles, pushing tangled strands of hair from her face. “He’s disappeared.” Downstairs, the estate is oddly quiet. No scent of coffee. No sound of movement. But the faint, muffled echo of barking and laughter draws her to the porch.
