Siddhant finally had a few moments to himself to focus on his work when suddenly, Abella’s cute antics decided to invade his mind. Surprisingly, he did not felt awkward nor irritated for getting her flashes again. This time, he felt his facial muscles relaxing and his mind cooling down. Without him realizing, his lips had curved up, forming a faint smile.
“She is truly something!” Siddhant marvelled to himself and was about to get back to his work when he was interrupted by the most annoying person in the world, Pranav.
“Whoa! Did the Sun rise from West today? Or, did it rain upwards instead of downwards?”
Siddhant glared at his enthusiastic brother for a minute before shaking his head and continuing his work.
“Won’t you ask why I claimed so, Siddhant?”
“Even if I don’t ask, you’re anyways gonna say it out loud. Why waste my energy? Say whatever that you thought of!”
“It’s because the impossible had happened! You were smiling earlier when I entered!” Pranav exclaimed excitedly.
“As if I don't smile or laugh normally, right?” Siddhant passed a snide remark.
“Hahaha! You do, but, not when you're alone like this. Normally this Soft Singh Oberoi shows up only in front of Dadi. Unless...”
Siddhant looked up at him, anticipated of what he might say next, but Pranav pretended to be ignorant of him and continued to pretend to ponder by tapping his index finger on the side of his chin.
“Unless what?!”, asked Siddhant impatiently.
“Unless... you're in love!” Pranav yelled out exhilarated with a giggle.
“What? Pranav, you're... You're mad! Totally mad! Do you know that?”
“Oh is it? Then what was the reason behind your smile just now? Pray tell?” Pranav asked him further.
“The reason... was... woh... urrmm...”
“I have the whole day. I can wait. Take your time, Siddhant!”
“I was smiling because of the exceptional deal we signed yesterday” Siddhant replied monotonously. He definitely can't dsclose the fact that the actual reason behind his smile was Abella and thence, he came up with the most plausible reason he could think of at that moment.
“Oh! Really? Pranav asked sarcastically, being completely aware of how his brother was trying to hide the truth away from him.
“Yes, really. And no more question about this! Chapter closed. Got it?”
“Alright then! Don't be the angry young man again and hulk out at me! Especially not now since Dadi had called you home for dinner tonight. Come on, let's go!” Pranav went up to him and pulled him by his hand from the chair.
“Pranav, yaar! Stop behaving like a child! I've got this important work to be completed. Please inform Dadi that I’ll come some other day for dinner. Besides, we just had breakfast together yesterday.”
“That was yesterday, Siddhant!” Pranav emphasized on the word yesterday and continued, “No way! Your girlfriend will screw me up! You are coming with me! That's all! It’s decided! Chapter closed! Do we have a deal here?”
“Okay, fine! It’s a deal!” Siddhant gave up exasperatedly. “You just know how to make me do things even when I’m being reluctant, don’t you? Fine! Let's go before Dadi calls up to start her version of melodrama!” Siddhant sighed.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the glorious Mumbai city, Abella was creating a huge chaos in her room when Shanaya entered with their dinner. Stating that her room wasin mess would be a complete understatement. The whole of Abella’s wardrobe was lying on the floor in the room and a pile of clothes was thrown all over the bed.
“Did a hurricane hit your room?! What the heck have you done to your room? Why is everything everywhere but where it supposedly be?”
“Shanaya, just look at this! I've got no proper clothes to wear to work tomorrow. What am I going to do now? If I dress up in my usual style, then that gasconade will fire me, but I’ve been looking for something to be worn since the past one hour and can’t find anything appropriate. I’m doomed, Shanaya! He'll surely fire me! Then I will not graduate. And then Papa will bring me back to Mussorrie! Shanaya! What do I do now?” Abella started her drama again, wailing out Shanaya’s name as well with every second that passed by.
Shanaya was actually used to this drama of Abella. After all, she’s been watching her do that since they were just kid.
“Hey, drama queen, please, for the sake of the greater good, stop your drama. You do know very well that this whole act of yours isn’t going to affect me, right? Then why are you wasting your time and my time by stretching a simple issue? You can straightforwardly inform me that you’ve got no clothes to be worn tomorrow, instead, you decided to put up this wallowing in self-pity enactment. For God’s sake! We will certainly find something from this huge pile of clothes, okay? Now, please relax, quit the drama and leave this problem for me to handle. By the way, have you completed the homework you brought back just now?” Shanaya tried to divert her mind. As long as Abella’s mind was stuck into the clothing issue, she would not think of anything else and Shanaya was very well aware of it.
“Oh s**t! I left it half-way just now. Thanks for reminding me Shanaya! I don't know how I will manage without you! You know, you're not just my best friend but you're more like my Mumma!” Abella said while crushing Shanaya in a tight hug, chocking her in the process as well.
“Okay! Alright! Now stop strangling me and please sit aside and complete your homework. I'll find you something to wear for tomorrow. Go now!” Shanaya urged Abella to complete her homework.
Abella took her manual and sat down at a corner, after making herself some space by simply throwing away the clothes there, while Shanaya starts digging into the piles for a proper clothing to work. The first piece of cloth she got was a mini skirt. She shook her head and put it away. She started to dig in again. The second piece of cloth was a one shouldered sequined cocktail dress. She put it away as well after imagining Abella wearing that to the office and her boss, Siddhant Singh Oberoi firing her immediately. The third piece of cloth she took out was a long sleeved, nude coloured, body con dress that would reach just above her knees. Shanaya looked at it for a second and then paired it with a thin black belt. Her lips thinned, forming a curve as she found the right and appropriate clothing for her bestfriend.
“Bingo! You're going to wear this to work tomorrow!” Shanaya claimed excitedly.
Abella looked up at the dress and grinned widely. “Shanaya!!! Seriously you're the best, you know!”
“Hold on, keep the praises first. Let me complete your look first. You will be wearing these with this! What say?” Shanaya said while showing her a pair of black stiletto.
Abella got all excited and was about to hug Shanaya but she avoided the hug. Abella pouted sadly at Shanaya as she expected a hug, but Shanaya poimted towards her abandoned manual. Abella sadly went back to the corner she was sitting earlier and started reading again. Shanaya took the food she had brought, went down to Abella and fed her. After taking the first bite Abella grinned and said, “you're the best Shanaya! But why are you a girl?! I wish you were a boy! I would have made you my Mr.Perfect, you know!”
Shanaya simply shook her head and mentally whacked Abella’s head. This girl was definitely the true definition of a crazy whacko.
Later that night, after keeping away all the clothes, Abella took out her scrapbook again. She opened up the last page which had Siddhant's picture in it and stared at it.
“Why are you even here?” She groaned as she tried to remove the picture, but stopped when something struck her mind. “When I took this picture, I didn't even know him. I saw the quality that I wanted in my Mr.Perfect so I captured this picture. So what if it's this Sadu Gasconade's picture? I should just let this remain here!”
She then placed it under her pillow and slept off while trying her level best to not think of the enchanting blue-green eyes she had encountered earlier that day.
