Chapter 5

Siddhant entered his cabin and unwillingly recalled the entire event that just happened. He tried to forget what had happened and focus on his work but Abella's curious eyes that he encountered earlier was flashing through his mind. He tried to divert and drift his thoughts into his work, but failed as her face was all that he was seeing everywhere. “God! Her damn eyes! It’s as though as if she was screaming to tell me something and so enchanting at the same time!” Siddhant groaned internally. “Fhat the wuck is wrong with me?! Why am I even thinking of her?” Siddhant growled as he caught himself drifting into her thoughts again. “Mhm…She's gone. I had fired her. Chapter closed!” Just then, he heard a knock on the door. Composing himself and pretending to be engaged in some random work, Siddhant looked up and ordered the person to enter. He saw the door knob slowly twisting and a head popped in, instead of the entire person. “When would you ever grow up? Come in Pranav!” Siddhant groaned at his brother who hesitatingly walked in. “Siddhant, I've brought someone to meet you!” The way Pranav told his sentence in a low yet fast pace, Siddhant could judge that he was about to do something that might piss him off. However, he decided to remain a rationalized brother and smiled softly to Pranav. “Who might that be?” Pranav turned around and nodded at someone by the door. Siddhant curiously tried to bend his head a little as Pranav’s tall figure was blocking his view. As Pranav approached towards his table and finally moved away, he saw Abella walked slowly behind him. The sight of her very face drove Siddhant mad again. His calming sea was beginning to be a stormy one, yet again. “What are you doing here? Look at her audacity!” Siddhant could’t help but to roar while looking at Pranav. “I brought her here Siddhant. Now can you please calm down and listen to her. For my sake!” Pranav sighed lovingly. Siddhant tried to keep his nerves down and looked at Abella. “Siddhant Sir, I'm extremely very sorry. I was so stressed out the whole day ever since I got to know that my internship would be here. And whenever I'm stressed out, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night and whenever I'm sleep deprived, I can get super cranky. Especially when we were in such a compromising position, my brain stopped working. I'm not some cheap 2 rupees girl who would flirt with her boss. But it was entirely unintended. Trust me! Please give me one chance to prove myself. I promise that I would never put you or myself in such a Bobsy-die situation ever again. Besides, you haven't seen my work yet, so I request please don't fire me by just the way I dress up and that incident just now. I seriously need to complete this internship in order to graduate. And my graduation is very important to me. The accident just now, it will never happen again. I promise! In fact, I Pinky promise” Abella spoke whatever that came to her mind in the speed and continuity of a Choo-Choo train and pointed out her pinky finger towards Siddhant, to seal her Pinky promise. It took Abella a few seconds to realize that pointing her finger out wasn’t a good decision and withdrew it immediately after. Both Siddhant and Pranav were confused by the time she ended her not only lengthy but a super speedy speech and the last pinky finger antic. All that they could do was to look a t each other and allow their brain to slowly process what Abella had said. On the other hand, Shanaya who was standing at the door out of curiousity facepalmed herself after seeing Abella's whole act of asking forgiveness. “What she's basically trying to say is that she's extremely apologetic and that she needs a chance to prove herself. Siddhant, don't you always say that everyone deserves at least one chance to prove themselves. Right now, you're snatching that chance away from Abella. Don't do it! Let’s just give her a chance and see how she lives up to it, what say?” Pranav decided to break the silence that prevailed after Abella was done apologizing. He knew that if he didn’t so anything right now, Siddhant might just yell at her another time apart from firing her again, though it was technically impossible, but with Siddhan Singh Oberoi, one should know that anything is possible. He was one such guy after all. Siddhant thoughtfully glanced at Abella, then at Pranav, and then at Abella again. He turned away to get his thoughts cleared up a bit as ever since he bumped into Abella about an hour ago, his thoughts were anything but sane. The room was in a pindrop silence while Siddhant was trying to sort things up in his mind. Finally he broke the silence by saying, “Just one chance! Only because I haven't seen your work yet, but, remember if you botched anything up, even if it's just the simplest thing, I will fire you the next moment itself. Is that clear?” “I understood Sir! It was crystal clear!” replied a smiling Abella confidently. “Thank you very much! I will not let you down”, she reassured. Relieved by what she was hearing, Shanaya let her guards down and was about retreat back to the hallway when she lost her balance causing the door to open ajar and she to fal flat on the carpeted flooring. She almost fell, but composed herself, pretty quickly. Her stunt managed to draw all the attention in the room. “Bobsy-die!” Shanaya muttered under her breath as she met three different gazes laid upon her. “Who are you?”, asked a startled Siddhant. “Err... I'm Shanaya Shekhawat... Err...', Shanaya fumbled as she was lost at words. “My intern!” Pranav interrupted her fumbled up introduction. “I had told her to watch the door so that no one will” he paused, looking for the right word, “you know just enter and disturb the... urrm... so called "meeting" we were having” Upon receiving no reaction from anyone, Pranav let out a humourless chuckle and joined his hand for a single clap. Abella also chuckled, in an attempt to reduce the tension in the room while Shanaya stood uprooted at the door. Siddhant just nodded his head. “Alright, leave now!”, he said. All the three of them were about to go when Siddhant said, “not you Miss Abella Morgan D’Souza” “But why?” asked the trio there in unison. “She's in my team for her internship and I've got somethings to be explained to her before she joins in.” Shanaya and Pranav left his cabin. Before leaving, Shanaya showed Abella a "good luck" by lifting both her thumbs up. Pranav noticed the bonding between these two girls which made his lips curve upwards. Once they left, Siddhant gestured Abella to take a seat. He then got up and swiftly picked up a few thick manuals and the sketches collections of Ahaana Authentics's Autumn launches in the past 10 years, ever since Siddhant took over the business from his tall shelf. Abella was shocked to see the stack that was standing tall in front of her on the desk. She looked at Siddhant with her jaw on the floor, petrified of the words that might escape her evil boss’s mouth. “This is your homework. Three things”, he raised his three fingers and continued, “Number one, read the manuals carefully and make sure to take note of the important points in it. Number two, go through these sketches of our Autumn launches. Observe the evolvement in the fashion in the past ten years and make a report on it. Number three, come up with a prediction on what would be in trend for this autumn. Your own sketch, in short. I will judge your work then. The deadline will be within three days. I don't care how you’re going to complete it, but at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, which is three days from now, I want your completed notes, report and sketch on my table. Is that clear?” Siddhant asked as he leaned down to the same level as her face was, making the similar distance as it was between them earlier. Abella gulped to calm her nerves down and nodded weakly. “'Sure, Sir!” She replied very much confidently as she took those manuals and sketchbooks in her hand, but deep down, her heart was screaming out one sentence, actually, one word to be precise, like a broken tape recorder. “Bobsy-die!”
