Claire was completely oblivious to the subtle change in Sean's expression. After asking what she needed to, she was ready to leave.
Sean stood up. With a stride of his long legs, he moved to see her out. But as he did, his elbow accidentally brushed against the table. With a loud clatter, the glass cup shattered into pieces, scattering across the floor.
Claire, already at the door, froze at the sound. She whipped her head around immediately.
A sharp piece of glass had sliced through Sean's hand, and crimson blood started to ooze from the cut.
Without a second thought, Claire darted over and seized his hand.
