Megan held onto her brother’s hand on her right and Susannah’s on her left. Kitty’s doctor joined the circle, as did the nurse in the Garfield scrubs who’d been taking care of her all evening.
“Father God,” Scott prayed in a voice that rang out loud and clear, “we want to thank you for Kitty and for all the trials you’ve brought her through in the past, the healing that you’ve already shown her. Thank you, God, for the way that Janice and Ruby were able to respond so quickly when she stopped breathing. Thank you for the team from Seattle who’s on the way to take her to the hospital there to give her the care she needs. Thank you for the grace that you’ve shown us tonight and for the fact that we can all be together right now.
