CHAPTER 47
Megan was late getting back to the hospital. Great. She parked her brother’s car and hurried inside. After telling the woman at the front desk who she was, she headed down the hall to Kitty’s room.
The doctor was there when Megan walked in. Scott was standing with his arm around his wife, and Susannah sat on the edge of her sister’s bed. Megan glanced over. Kitty was asleep.
“Do you really think it’s necessary?” Scott was asking. Megan could practically reach out and hold the tension in the room in her fist.
Janice adjusted her stethoscope. “If you want my professional opinion, I think Seattle’s going to be the best place for her. If you’re asking me as a friend …”
