Prologue

There are three types of people in this world. Those who are dying to live, living to die, and those who just surviving. Isabelle thought of herself as a survivor. She survived through what she thought was all the viciousness the pack had to offer. She was wrong though, to the pack Isabelle and Elena were nothing but burdens from the previous king. A King who was horrible to his people, a tyrant who deserved death. The story of the tyrant king was simple enough. He was simply a man who went mad with power. He tried to destroy all the packs and make his people bow down to one rule, his. As always bad guys don't have happy endings as he and the people were defeated. Those on the king's side either fled or hid. The tyrant king was killed by the current reigning king as an act of kindness and to placate the numerous members who believed in the tyrant king's rule. He spared the three-year-old Isabelle and newborn Elena furthermore he adopted them as his 'children'. He seemed kind and benevolent to do this resulting in every pack's support. "The girls were raised with uttermost care. Not lacking in anything being it clothes or food," he said. It was true they were being taken care of but that only lasted two years. As soon as the king's reign was stable the children were anonymously named lower than omegas. To survive they had to do what they were told, to eat they had to do what they were told. A life filled with pain awaited the young girls. They were beaten, tortured, scarred, and abuse verbally daily. Isabelle, being the older sister took the brunt of it to protect her sister. She would often tell her sister that it would be better once they found mates to take them away from the pack. It was a belief she sang into her sister's head even after she turned sixteen. At sixteen was a sort of coming of age for wolves. At fourteen they first shift and at sixteen they would meet their mates. As soon as Isabelle was able to understand that, she made sure her sister understood it too. However, silently and Isabelle didn't believe in it though. She saw the way they were treated, she felt their hatred for them especially after she turned sixteen. Nobody wanted to be mated with the tyrant king's daughters. And the girls being of alpha bloodline means there was a ninety-five percent chance of their mates being of high lineage also. Even if their mates weren't mated to omega's and then somehow it would be worse than being with an omega. Lower than omegas and not entirely belonging anywhere. The future was grim but Isabelle kept singing the same tune to her sister even when she haven't found her mate. She managed to convince her sister that it meant her mate was someone outside of the pack. Not once did Isabelle bring up her suspicion that her mate might be the future alpha king or the future royal beta. That would only make Elena worry about her. Isabelle had it hard enough as things were right now. She did not need a hormonal teenage wolf trying to fix it. As things stand, the sisters were survivors.
