Chris was much farther away than Jennifer, yet he almost arrived at the same time. Evelyn was in so much pain that tears welled up in her eyes. She had tumbled down the stairs, her body slamming into the banister of the spiral staircase before being thrown off. As she fell, her legs, knees, arms, back, even the back of her head—everything hurt. Every bone in her body throbbed with pain. Aliyah, that awful woman, had actually pushed her in the end. "Evelyn, are you alright?" Jennifer bent down, concerned. "Don't worry about me. Just call the cops." Evelyn's head throbbed. She clutched her head, afraid the fall had caused brain damage.
