Rey awoke slowly. The moment she regained consciousness was almost surreal. One moment she was blind to the world and the next her eyes opened and she was just lying there, wide awake in the dark. It was a comfortable kind of darkness, the type that felt like a cozy, warm blanket that felt just right. She lay there for a few minutes, unwilling to get out of bed. It was quiet and she was just starting to fall back into sleep when the sound of footsteps jolted her out of her doze. She groaned softly and rolled over to face the door, which was opening slowly, as if the person who was opening it was trying to make as little noise as possible.
