The air inside the storage unit was suffocating, thick with rust, oil, and fear. Raven crouched behind a stack of crates, the cold metal of the crowbar pressed tight to her palm. The silence buzzed with menace, every creak and groan of the building a threat waiting to move. Sierra hadn’t spoken again. The girl sat in the corner, her knees tucked to her chest, collar catching the light with every shallow breath. Raven's heart beat against her ribs like it was trying to claw its way out.
