The Other Route

I have been in school for more than two weeks and seriously nothing happened. Am I dreaming?
"There's a a lot of possibilities why you aren't being insulted or assaulted" Aiko-san said so.
"Well even if that is true, it feels weird to have that normal life I long for. It's like it's being easy on me" I complained.
Though I should be grateful that I get the chance to have it. After school, Kanao wanted to go to a cafe with just the two of us. I agreed because I felt the glare coming from Aiko-san.
"Hey Yuu-chan, have you been feeling well since the day you came back?" She asked.
"Yeah, even though it's weird. I have been okay" he said as he continued to walk.
We stopped by the café nearby as we ordered some drinks. Kanao was happy with her choice as she drank the beverage happily while I on the other hand was drinking while thinking. Was it again the right choice to come back?
"Stop thinking about it and enjoy it" Aiko-san told me from behind.
I just sighed and went to pat Kanao's head. She was around my shoulder so it was easy. Kanao was now wondering of what am I doing but in the end, she enjoyed it. As our beverages were consumed, we left and head home then we parted ways once we got closer but before that I stopped and held her hand.
"Stay safe alright?" I said while looking away.
Kanao was just quiet and replied with a "Don't worry, I'll always be careful" when I looked at her, she smiled while her face was a bit red.
I went home after that. Aiko-san was now looking at me while smiling as if she was waiting for an answer to her question that has been written all over her face.
"Yes, I did enjoy school" I already answered her despite her not saying anything.
Her reaction was amazed as she smiled. "good to know! anyways I shall prepare dinner" she said happily.
I went upstairs to change and rest for a bit.
"Though somehow I'm still worried about what could happen next. It just doesn't feel right" I concluded.
As dinner came, I went down to eat while Aiko-san was looking at the balcony door again, probably looking at the stars again. I smiled as I enjoyed my meal, once finished I didn't dare to disturb her and did the dishes. I wondered about Kanao from earlier, she seems really happy to be with me or at least from me going back to school.
"Well I did enjoy it for a bit" I finished my chore.
The next morning, Aiko-san and I went to school like usual. Kanao was with us though since she's close to where I live.
"Yuu-chan..you seem tired" Kanao said worriedly.
"I'll be fine" I smiled at her.
Actually I couldn't sleep properly last night because of how I was thinking that there will be danger coming at me. As we got to school, we went to our classroom and sat on our seats. As usual, class started though this time I wasn't paying attention in class. I was staring at the window and in the sky.
Lunch came and Kanao went with her friends while I went to my way. I ate alone in the cafeteria.
"Thankfully Aiko-san made my lunch this time" I said and smiled.
As always, Aiko-san's cooking is the best! Though I wonder if she was culinary student from her school or if she had any kind of family business that includes cooking. I thought of that while eating, as lunch break ended I went back to class but I had to go to the restroom first.
I did my business in the restroom, washed my hands and used tissues to wipe my hands. Once I got out of the boy's restroom, four female students came out of the girl's restroom. It wasn't odd but the odd part is, they had this smirk on their faces as if they did some horrible stuff. Not only that, they were laughing and threw some items in the restroom.
Once they left, instead of me leaving like normal. I went to investigate, class had started so it was okay to check. Hopefully I won't get accused of being a peeping tom.
I checked inside as someone's belongings were just scattered everywhere. I did my best to fix that up. I check the area and the last stall seems to be closed tight and water was seen on the ground near it. I come closer and unlocked the door or rather the item that was locking the door from the outside. I opened it as a female student was just sitting there and drenched with water.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
She didn't answer but she did look my way. She had this dead empty look in her eyes as I felt irritated. People shouldn't be this way. I lent her my hand as to help her stand up.
"Let's get you out of here.... I'll do my best to help you" I said.
She didn't respond but she did take my hand. For now all I did was bring her to the infirmary and let her rest there, I also brought her stuff and placed it near her side.
I went back to class and apologized to the teachers for skipping class. I was punished to clean the class after school.
Class was dismissed as Kanao stayed by my side. She seemed worried but I told her I would be fine. She wasn't convince by that, I did tell her to head home first and I insisted. She sighed and smiled then left.
"It sucks to be this way...." I sighed.
"Well at least you did help someone, Kagami-san" Aiko-san appeared infront of me.
"Well.... I just couldn't leave her behind like that" I said.
She smiled and helped me clean the classroom. Though once I was finished and prepared my stuff, I went out of my classroom and I encountered that girl from the toilet. She was actually waiting for me.
"Thank you for helping me..... what's your name?" She asked first.
"Kagami.... Kagami Yuuta" I answered while looking at her.
"I see.... It's nice to meet you, Kagami-senpai. I am Kanzaki Aoi"
