Shattered Illusions

Seraphina Hart felt like the walls of the Voss Estate were closing in on her. After reading the devastating message that accused Marcus of working with Bella, she had spent the entire day avoiding both men. Her mind was a battlefield, Damien's raw, possessive hunger versus Marcus's gentle promises that now felt like poison. She was in her suite, trying to focus on gala seating arrangements, when the connecting door slammed open. Damien stormed in, his expression darker than she had ever seen. His gray eyes were stormy with fury and something dangerously close to betrayal. He was still in his suit, but the tie was gone and the top buttons undone, revealing the scars that told the story of his brutal past. "You've been quiet all day," he said, voice low and threatening. "Thinking about Hale? Wondering if his offer to 'save' you is real?" Sera stood up slowly, heart hammering. "After what that message said... I don't know who to believe anymore. You treat me like a toy you use when you're hard. Marcus offered me kindness. Now I'm being told he's working with Bella. Who the hell is telling the truth?" Damien moved closer, backing her against the dresser. His hand came up to grip her chin, forcing her to look at him. "You want the truth? Fine. I don't trust easily because everyone I've ever let close has stabbed me in the back. My parents died when I was fifteen. The man I called mentor tried to have me killed for refusing to join his criminal network. Bella was supposed to be my future, until she sold the location of my safe house to those same people for money and power. I survived with these scars." He ripped open his shirt, exposing the full extent of the jagged lines across his chest and abdomen. "So forgive me if I don't hand out trust like candy." His breathing was heavy. The air between them crackled with tension, lust, anger, and pain. Sera could see the war inside him...the part that wanted to claim her completely and the part that refused to let anyone in. Before she could respond, Damien's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and his face went deathly still. He answered on speaker. A distorted voice came through. "Voss. You have twenty-four hours to transfer forty percent of Voss Empire shares into an offshore account. Refuse, and we release everything, the files Seraphina saw, proof of your illegal shipments, and the recordings of you with your new assistant in the library and in the rain. The world will see exactly what kind of man you are... and what kind of scandal you keep under your roof." The line went dead. Sera felt ice flood her veins. "They have recordings? Of us?" Damien's expression turned lethal. He tossed the phone onto the bed and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her flush against his hard body. "They've been watching us. Someone inside this estate is feeding them information." His mouth crashed down on hers in a punishing kiss...desperate, angry, and filled with raw need. Within seconds, he had her bent over the dresser, skirt shoved up around her waist. He didn't bother with foreplay. He freed his thick, already rock-hard c**k and thrust into her soaked p***y in one brutal stroke. Sera cried out at the sudden stretch, her hands gripping the edge of the dresser as he pounded into her mercilessly. The wet slap of skin against skin echoed through the room. He f****d her hard and deep, one hand fisting her hair while the other rubbed her c**t with rough circles. "This p***y is mine," he growled, voice strained. "No one else gets to see you like this. No one else gets to hear you scream my name." Sera came hard, her walls clenching violently around him as waves of pleasure mixed with fear. Damien followed with a guttural groan, burying himself to the hilt and flooding her with hot c*m. But this time, he didn't pull away immediately. He stayed inside her, breathing heavily against her neck. For one brief moment, his grip softened. Then came the real shock. His phone buzzed again. This time it was a video file. Damien opened it. The video showed Bella Laurent in a luxurious hotel room, laughing as she spoke to a man whose face was hidden. "I don't care how you do it," Bella said coldly. "Use Marcus to get close to the girl. Once she's emotionally attached to him, she'll convince Damien to lower his guard. Then we take everything. The company, his reputation, and that little girl he's obsessed with. She'll be ruined right alongside him." Bella smiled at the camera. "Tell our silent partner the plan is working perfectly. Seraphina Hart is the key to destroying Damien Voss." The video ended. Sera felt the world tilt. Her legs nearly gave out. Marcus wasn't just working with Bella. He was part of an active plot to destroy Damien and she had walked right into their trap by meeting him. Damien slowly pulled out of her, his expression unreadable. He zipped himself up and stared at her with cold, piercing eyes. "You went to him today," he said quietly, dangerously. "You let him touch you. You listened to his lies while my enemies were recording us. While they were planning to destroy everything I built." He stepped back, his walls slamming back into place harder than ever. "From now on, you don't leave this estate without my permission. You don't speak to Marcus Hale again. And if I find out you're still communicating with him..." His voice dropped to a lethal whisper. "I will make sure you regret ever signing that contract." Damien turned and walked out, leaving Sera alone, his c*m still dripping down her thighs, her heart shattered, and her mind reeling from the depth of the betrayal surrounding her. But the worst part? As she stood there shaking, another message arrived on her phone. This one from Marcus. Seraphina, I know you're scared. Meet me tomorrow night at the old marina warehouse. I'll explain everything. I can get you out safely. Come alone. Your life depends on it. Sera stared at the message, tears burning in her eyes. She was trapped between two dangerous men. One who used her like he owned her but refused to give her love. One who offered safety but was plotting her ruin. And Bella Laurent was the puppet master pulling every string. The question was no longer who she should trust. It was whether she would survive long enough to choose.
