Your Luna
Cade's POV
I'd seen Mark patrolling the grounds with who seemed like his Beta and Daniel. He'd arrived at the shortest notice.
That was why I trusted him with my life.
I knew Mark would look up. Probably the wolf instincts or something burning deeper.
So I decided to give him a show
Jennifer was a pretty good unaware actress too. When I looked up from kissing her neck and telling her that I wanted her, I'd caught his gaze and he quickly looked away, his jaws clenching.
I chuckled.
Whether she believed me or not. I wanted to help her and I wanted her. My plan had been to find her after I'd settled the territorial dispute with Mark.
The moon goddess had smiled on me and I was able to kill two birds with one stone.
That night, it was probably the night of his crowning. She'd been crying.
I've wanted her since then and even now as she got up from bed and walked to the windows, her silk nightwear framing her figure. I wanted to f**k her hard with her t**s buried in my mouth and hear her moan my name.
I wanted her even as I had no clear direction of what I was doing at the moment.
At least with her as my Luna, I got to shut up those nagging pack elders.
*****************************
Mark invited me for breakfast as a step to promoting our truce. I wasn't about to miss out on this one.
I requested for an experienced stylist. The butler returned with one a couple of minutes later.
“Jennifer, you're coming with me to have breakfast”
She'd said nothing, just nodded and I left the room.
Daniel met me at the door, a stoic expression on his face.
“My Alpha”
“Daniel. Thank you for coming on such short notice”, I said with a small smile.
He looked at me, his eyes full of this wariness. I braced myself, expecting the next barrage of questions.
“What are you doing?” He whispered as he stood next to me with a frown on his face.
“What I know to do best”
“Cade, a Luna? From the rival pack. The same that crossed our territory and attacked our men. What's worse, the same woman that was supposed to be his mate!?”
“My word Dan. Which would I answer first?”
He narrowed his eyes at me, still displeased.
“What are you planning?”
“ A lot of plans have been reshuffled since I arrived here, Daniel. At most I am just going with my instincts. A trade for a trade”.
He sighed and stared ahead of us.
“Does she know?”
“I filled her in”
He gave me this look that said, by filling her in you probably just gave her crumbs you could to loop her in and hid the main details.
I couldn't deny that.
“I came with a couple of your men”
“Splendid”.
We saw Mark's butler approaching and I knew it was time. Daniel left first and he delivered the information to me.
“We'd be there soon”, I told him with a curt nod.
The door opened and the stylist came out, followed by Jennifer.
I held my breath as I took in her sudden transformation.
Damn, she was beautiful. She was looking up at me with a shy smile on her face, probably waiting for a response.
I loved the dress. It complemented the smoky look of her makeup and still accentuated her curves.
“So….
“You look amazing”, I replied with a straight face and then offered her a small smile.
“Shall we?”.
We both walked through the halls towards the dining area. I could see her getting tense with every step we took until we got to the door.
Her expression was pretty sour too.
“Hey”
She looked at me and I took her hand.
“I'm here with you, you'd be fine”. I said and kissed her hand, still holding her gaze.
She managed a smile and walked in with me behind her.
My eyes met with that of Mark and I could tell that he was both surprised and mesmerized at the transformation too.
Good.
“Hi Cade”, Sophie said sweetly batting her eyelids at me, “We're happy you joined us for breakfast, right Mark?” She asked him, tugging gently at his arm.
He glanced at her with a brief smile and resumed eating.
I pulled out a chair for Jennifer and she settled in it, smiling and thanking me. I sat in the seat next to hers.
Daniel sat next to me already eating.
“Oh Jen, you decided to join us. How lovely”, Sophie said smiling but we all knew her voice was dripping with sarcasm and hate.
I looked at Jennifer, she said nothing and picked up her fork.
“Thank you Mark, for your generosity,” I said, lifting a glass to him.
He glanced at Jennifer and raised his glass too, smiling.
“You should probably add a little bit of salt to your food, Jen. You've always had a bland tongue”, he said with a small smile and sipped his wine.
Sophie giggled. Jennifer said nothing and just stared at her food.
“Would you mind passing me the salt shaker butterfly?”
Jennifer looked at me and passed the salt with a smile. I caught her hand in mine and pressed a kiss to her knuckles while holding Mark's gaze.
He got the memo and looked away. A warm blush spread across Jennifer's cheeks and she tucked her hair behind her ears.
She'd probably think this is still part of our make believe. And hopefully it is
I caught Daniel watching me silently from the corner of his eyes without a word.
“Well I've never known the Alpha of the Great Fort pack to bring a partner except his Beta to a business breakfast not to talk of being so obsessed with one”, Sophie replied with a chuckle.
Daniel stood up and walked up to me . He leaned down and whispered something in my ears, then he left.
I stood up with a polite smile. “If you would excuse me, my gracious hosts. I have a more pressing matter to attend to, rather than speaking with idiots”.
I left before I could see Sophie's reaction and met Daniel outside, my expression settling into the usual stoic face of a Rogue Alpha.
“I have information on the trespassers”.
“Who are they?”
I heard a loud crash sound coming from the hall and I glanced at Daniel before taking two strides into the hall.
Jennifer was on the floor with something red pooled around her side.
Blood.
