•‘But Mgeee, I want Blueberry fool!’ ‘You drank all of them, Sisi.’ ‘Then go buy some more!’ ‘It's eleven pm for crying out loud. Watch the movie and stop whinnying or I'm never watching you again.’•
Sienna Hart POV
“Sisi,”a voice called to me as I was shaken awake. “Are you okay?”
I groaned as bright light hit my eyes.
My dad stared down at me, watching me as carefully as my mom would.
“What?”I asked him and he shook his head.
“Nothing,” he answered,“just the first time in a while you're waking up late.”
The sleepiness left my eyes at the word ‘late.’
“What’s the time?”
“A few minutes past ten,” he said, giving me room to get out of bed.
“Ten?!” I yelled and my dad let out a chuckle.
“Just messing with you, kid,” he said with a smile on his lips, “it's just a few minutes past eight. I'm sure you can still make it in time. Hurry up a get ready so you can say goodbye to your mom before she leaves.”
I hurried around the room gathering my stuff.
I had returned a bit late from Lizzie's and then I had gotten distracted with texting Jace that I didn't get my school stuff ready.
Great.
Perfect even.
Just the perfect way to start November.
“Leaves?”I repeated, “what do you mean?”
“She's attending a conference,” my dad told me as he began to help me make my bed.
“Dad, stop,”I said, “thanks but I can do it.”
“I know,” he said,“but I don't mind. Just do your thing.”
I let him make my bed and headed into the bedroom before he called out to me.
“Happy New month, Sisi, your allowance is on the bed stand right next to the plate of carrots you didn't finish.”
Now that's not bad at all, I could get gas after school.
✿
I got to school at exactly five minutes before the first class– history.
It was one of the few classes I didn't have with Jason so luckily, he didn't get to see me making the walk of shame into class after everyone had settled in.
But Brandon was there though, sitting next to the only free desk in the classroom.
As I settled in, Brandon nodded in acknowledgement at me and I nodded in return and just then, my phone vibrated inside the pocket of my jeans.
I pulled out and checked the notification.
A heartbreaking text from Lizzie.

8:58am
Before I could type in a reply, the history teacher Mr Baron walked in, looking even more stern than usual.
“If it rings, pings or whatever ‘ing’ sounds those devices make,” he said,“you won't be seeing it for the rest of the term. Now let's get down to business. Tell me, who watched the morning news today?”
I set my phone to silent and put it away as Mr Baron began to discuss the morning news like he always did.
I flipped open the page of my notebook to a blank one and scribbled a date in.
Time to put my defenses back up, Lizzie was home sick and Sydney probably wasn't going to make it so I was getting through the day on my own.
November, you are really fun of surprises.
✿
The bell sounded all through the school signalling the end of the first period.
Mr Baron gave his final statement for the period and settled in his seat as the student’s chatter began as they exited the classroom, sharing tales of their Halloween.
“Hey, Sienna, what's up,” Brandon said to me as he got out of his seat and I gathered my materials.
“Hi, Brandon,” I replied politely.
Other than yesterday when I was completely filled to the brim with so much confidence that I didn't know what to do with which I blamed on the PJ's in a way, this was the first time I was talking to Brandon.
“You look tired,”he pointed out as we exited the classroom together and I fought the need to walk several centimeters away from him because of his attention drawing hair.
“Yeah,”I agreed as I tucked a stray hair which had escaped from my low ponytail behind my ear.
“I didn't get much sleep.”
“Me neither,” he said,“had to clean up after the party so I wouldn't get in trouble with my parents. Then they finally got home at 3am and my baby sister wouldn't stop crying. I didn't get any shut eye at all.”
“Wait,”I turned to look at Brandon,“you have a baby sister? I thought you were an only child.”
“Used to be till two years ago when Mom had twins: Briar and Brian,”Brandon told me still looking super cool as he talked about his baby siblings.
Before I could reply though some guy called out his name and Brandon gave me a half smile.
“I should better get going, it was nice talking to you, Sienna.”
“Yeah, you too,”I said though I doubted he heard me because he was already gone.
✿
The day went by fast till it was time for three last period of the day.
Physical Education.
I personally hated this class though it was one Lizzie's favorite as she was very competitive when it came to sports that she liked.
Though, she did see my reason when I started to list why the class was awful and hopefully, you will too.
The uniforms were awful.
Sure, all the girls love ’em but they're just a T-shirt and a pair of really short shorts.
Though my shirt’s kinda long so it covers my shorts, it doesn't make it any better because then it just seemed like I was wearing only a T-shirt.
Another reason is this, at P.E we do just two things.
Exercise in the form of playing indoor volleyball, dodgeball or running and learn s*x education which is just a better word for the disgusting talk Coach Kyle gives about Condoms and birth control so I guess that's more than enough reason to hate this.
Plus, the extra reason I almost forgot about.
They were all in this class.
Yup, you guessed it.
The main popular kids: Jason, Alisha, Belvia, Matt and Owen.
Damnit, Lizzie. You picked the worst day ever to miss school.
I headed to the girls locker room to change.
Just a few girls were in here because I got here a earlier so I wouldn't have to listen to the locker room gossip which was much more dirtier and a lot more disturbing than the school bus gossip.
I changed into my yellow T-shirt, blue shorts and my white high tops.
I put my hair into a ponytail and then wrapped it round into a bun.
Judging by the weather, we would be playing indoor volleyball today.
I pulled out my phone from my locker and sent Liz a quick text.
BLμ€GLiTT3R
For making me go through
PE alone, I expect three
hundred pages of heartfelt
apologies! 1:28pm
I tucked my phone safely in the locker and locked it before I headed to the gym with my T-shirt at my mid thighs.
I sat silently at the bleachers as the students came in one after another.
Jason, Brandon, Alisha, Belvia, Matt and Owen arrived shortly after.
Thankfully, none of them spotted me as they listened to Alisha and Belvia as they narrated something to them together.
That was when someone settled down beside me.
I recognized her instantly.
It was the same girl that had asked me if I was hooking up with Jason the other day.
I stared questionably at her but I doubt she noticed it as she was focused on Jason and his friends.
“We all know that person from middle school who we used to be friends with but then in highschool, they become part of this group and then you get left behind right?” she turned to look at me after her question, her dark brown eyes bore into mine.
She had wavy brown hair that shared the same color with her eyes up in a ponytail and bangs in front.
Her P.E uniform stuck to her body but not in a slutty way.
“Umm, no,” I replied,“I don't.”
“Well, I do,” she said,“in middle School, Belvia and I were close
really close friends. Best friends, even and I had a huge on Jason back then. I bet the whole population knew about it because I was so all over the place with my love for him. You know, the one person who didn't notice was Alisha. Long story short though, Belvia told Alisha who I guess loved the guy too and they threatened me together.”
The girl let out a humourless laugh.
“My own bestfriend,” she sighed,“anyway, the two of them became bestfriends and have been that way ever since.”
“Why are you telling me this?”I asked.
“I've been seeing you around Jason a lot, at his party, in the halls, last night,” she said and as my lips moved to speak she stopped me.
“Alisha and Belvia are nice girls. They both have two sides– calm, forgiving and understanding like water but only people like Jason, Brandon, Matt and Owen get to see that side and other people who they don't consider as threats and they're also like ice, Sienna Hart. Unforgiving, sharp and brutal. They can draw blood. Alisha loves Jason though he doesn't see it and I'm not accusing you of anything but if Alisha feels even a bit threatened, you'll see her ice side. She can ruin you, Sienna so be careful. I won't let what happened to me, be the fate of someone else.”
“What happened to you?”I asked, curiously.
“It's not important,” she said,“I'm Kenzie by the way. I don't know but I like to consider myself your friend because I'm just looking out for you. Watch your back.”
Kenzie gave me one last gaze before she got up and headed up the bleachers and began discussing with two guys.
This was really weird.
My thinking time was caught off by the sound of a loud whistle.
Coach Kyle walked into the gym.
“Alright, trouble makers,” he said with his voice raised,“let's play some volleyball. Girls versus Boys, Alisha and Belvia, pick your teammates, Jason and Owen, do the same. Hurry up, we don't have all day.”
As Jason's eyes scanned around, he finally spotted me and he gave me a smile and a wave.
I watched as Belvia brought this to Alisha's attention and as a united squad, they both stepped forward.
“Sienna,”Alisha called with smile,“come on, we want you on the team.”
“Well, get moving,”Coach Kyle urged slightly irritated when I stayed put, “I've got a date to get ready for.”
Judging by your lack of charms whatsoever, Coach Kyle, it'll will probably be there last one you have in a while.
I pushed myself off my seat and descended the stairs as Alishan and Belvia selected other people.
I glanced over at Jason for a second and he wasn't looking at me like I thought he would.
He was doing his own thing.
“Don't worry, Sienna,”Alisha chirped beside me as she put her brown hair in a ponytail, “volleyball is fun. You'll love it.”
“But I can't play,”I said and Belvia waved it off.
“Nonsense,” she said,“I'm sure you'll be a natural and even if you're not, I'll stand in front of you so I can stop the ball from hitting you.”
I wanted to beg them to choose someone else but I didn't.
I couldn't.
After what Kenzie just told me, I felt like their patience was thin and could snap at any moment.
A short while later, we all stood in our formation and coach Kyle was saying the rules.
Once he was done with his short rant, he blew his whistle loudly and Alisha did the first serve.
The ball flew powerfully past the net and one of the guys on the other team sent it flying back.
It went back and forth a few times too one of the girls missed a step and earned the boys a point.
Belvia frowned.
She flipped her ponytail as she turned to the girl who had slipped–Kenzie.
“Of course it's you,” Belvia said with an eyeroll, “will you ever do anything right?”
“I don't know,” Kenzie retorted sacarstically,“will you ever stop such a mean b***h?”
“Jealousy is so last six years, it doesn't look good on you,”Belvia said and as Kenzie was about to come up with her on reply, coach Kyle blew into his whistle.
“That's enough, leave the girl drama at homec 101,” he said,“this is P.E so get on with the game.”
Everyone moved back into position but I kept my eye on Kenzie.
She was still hurting.
I could tell because though she pretended to hate Belvia’s very existence, there was this part of her that missed her–
“Sienna, look out!” Jace yelled right before the flying white ball hit me right in the face and sent me falling.
Ouch.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Jace go under the net, rushing towards me.
“Sienna, are you okay?” he asked as he gently helped me up.
“I just got hit in then face,”I answered sarcastically,“of course I'm not okay.”
I saw him smile a bit, amused,“well your glasses can take a hit, they're still intact.”
I groaned in pain as I adjusted them.
“Thanks for the compliment.”
“What hurts?”Jace asked as I massaged my forehead.
“My face, my butt and my pride,”I said and that was when I realized that everyone was watching us.
My gaze landed on Kenzie who gave me a knowing look.
Then my gaze moved to Alisha who looked at us, her features confused.
“Let's go to the nurse,” Jason suggested and immediately I blurted, “No!”
“What?”Jason replied, confused.
“I'll go by myself,”I said as I moved from his hold.
I stumbled a bit and Jace reached out to hold me and again assured him I was fine before I rushed towards the locker room hoping Alisha didn't begin to hate me over nothing.
✿
“Quit whinnying, Si, you got enough sleep and 80 out of a hundred people have been hit the face before,”Lizzie said to me before she took a sip of her milkshake.
It was 3pm and I sat with my bestfriend at our usual booth at the store.
She sat across me in a bright pink pullover hoodie and matching pants.
She looked like a Barbie doll with her really curly blonde hair.
She had spent the day at home with her stylist curling her hair after her hangover stopped.
“Have you been hit in the face?”I questioned and she rolled her eyes.
“Hel-lo, girl who took a self defense class at thirteen over here, ”Liz said and I let out a sigh.
“Okay, okay,”I said,“but my face hurts a lot. I've had a really crappy day.”
I pressed the ice pack Courtney had given me to my forehead.
“Hey,”Lizzie said all of a sudden, “have you been using the hair products I got you?”
Out of habit, my fingers went to my hair,“Yeah, I applied the lotion this morning,”I said,“thank you again. I love it.”
“Your welcome,” Lizzie said,“now tell me about Brandon and Jason before I explode.”
I recounted to Listen everything that had happened at the party and today at school.
Even the Kenzie thing.
“So she just sat next to you and started saying all that?” Lizzie repeated, a bit surprised. “Weird.”
“Yeah,”I agreed as I munched on a fry.
I didn't have time to eat as I spent my lunch at the library.
“I don't think she meant any harm though,” I added, “she spoke as though she has true intentions.”
“I'll be the judge of that,” Lizzie said as she pulled out her phone. “What did she say her name was again?”
“Kenzie,”I replied,“she didn't say her last name.”
“Don't worry, that's all I need.”
“Such great talent,”I said with laughter in my voice, “you should work for the FBI.”
“Again with the sacarsm, Si?” Lizzie shook her head. “Speaking of FBI though, Sydney called Her sister is fine but is going to take some time off work and she should be back tomorrow and in school on Wednesday.”
“Even my mom's out of town,”I informed Lizzie.
With her eyes on her phone, Lizzie I mean, she took a sip of her drink and asked, “yeah? What for?”
“A conference for doctors.”
“Yes, jackpot,” Lizzie smiled,“Zoe Kenzie, following 303, has 724 followers. Now let's take a look at her pictures... You didn't say she was beautiful, Si. Hey, is she a Tomboy?”
“No idea,” I replied,“why do you ask?”
“Her pictures are mostly of herself and two really cute guys,” Lizzie replied as she tapped away on her phone. “Wait, this is her right?”
She showed me a photo of Kenzie on her phone just to make sure and I nodded.
“The guys names are Nelson and Zachary.”
“I saw them today, I think, ”I told Lizzie.
“I guess they're her bestfriends or something,” Lizzie shrugged as she put her phone away. “So what do you think?”
“About what she said?”I asked in confirmation and Liz nodded. “I don't know. I don't think anything.”
“You’re not worried about Alisha?”
I raised an eyebrow, “why would I be worried about Alisha?”
“You know, ”Lizzie said a bit suggestively, “if you and Jason wanted to get together, she'd be a major problem.”
I shrugged, “good thing Jason and I aren't getting together then.”
Lizzie gave a silent disapproval which I brushed off and went back to eating.
I wasn't looking to fall in love or have a boyfriend but if I was to, I'm a 100% sure that the guy was not going to be Jason Macaulay.
Just then, my phone pinged, lighting up on the table beside my plate.
I picked it and checked the notification.
Speak of the devil.

“Who’s that?” Lizzie asked and I made a face. A face where I pursed my lips and stared straight at her eyes.
Lizzie's lip spread into a teasing smile.
“Jason texted you? What really happened last night, Si.”
“Nothing,”I replied, “we just played truth or truth in during the drive to yours and then we played it again through texts. That's it.”

I touched my cheeks.
“Yeah,”I said defendsively, “because he texts funny.”
“He's teasing you?” Lizzie asked.
“No,”I said,“it's just– the way he texts. It's smile worthy.”
“So you do like him,” Lizzie gasped, “You’re crushing on–”
“Lizzie!” I cut my bestfriend off and I noticed a few heads turning to our direction.
“Don't deny it.”
I leaned forward a bit on the table and gritted out a reply.
“Half of BHS’s population is in this building.”
“Fine, I'll drop it,” Lizzie said with a sigh before she added with a sly smile,“for now.”

Unbelievable.
Jason Macaulay thinks I'm beautiful.
Nope.
He's just teasing me.
“I give you a month,” Lizzie said watching me as I placed my phone back on the table.
“To do what?”I asked as I resumed eating.
“To fall in love with Mr popular.”
“Stop it, Liz,”I said tiredly as I munched on my food. The salty fries soothing my taste buds.
“Umm, no,” Lizzie said with an eyeroll, “I'm serious about this. I'm a specialist at this kind of things so believe me when I say it'll happen. I'll make sure of it.”
“Jason isn't my type, Cupid,”I told my bestfriend, trying to keep her from wasting her time on this.
“So you have a type?” Lizzie questioned, her tone slightly teasing, “okay, what's your ideal guy like?”
“I don't know, ”I replied, “I haven't really thought of it.”
“Glad to have brought it up,” Lizzie said, “go on, think. Put that really smart brain of yours to good use.”
I eyed my bestfriend before I did as she asked.
“My ideal guy is cute, he needs to be smart, have a sense of humor, is a good listener, has a good relationship with his family, caring and has a plan for his future.”
“Si, you just described Jason,”Lizzie said and I scoffed.
“I see what you're trying to do,” I told her disapprovingly, “it's not going to work. Go find some other two people to play Cupid with.”
“You can run but you can't hide,”Lizzie said in the sing-song voice and I let out a low
sigh.
Shouldn't have let her punch Matt.
✿
On Wednesday evening, I sat at the dinner table working on my homework as Dad got dinner ready in the kitchen.
We had decided to order dinner and we chose to order Chinese food, particularly fried rice.
When I heard a metal utensil crash to the floor, I called out to my dad, “Dad, do you need help in there?”
“No, thank you, Sisi,” he replied,“I've got it.”
A short time later, my dad placed a plate of fried rice in front of me and I pushed my books aside and got up to get us drink and fill up Sky’s food bowls.
“Apple or orange?” I asked my dad referring to juice types.
“Apple,” he replied and I headed into the kitchen.
I took Sky's filled food bowls first before I carried the drinks for Dad and I.
“I hired Courtney to be my personal assistant today, ”my dad said.
“Oh, I was wondering why I didn't see much of her at the store,” I replied as I munched on the rice.
“She said you needed an ice pack?”
“I got hit with a ball during PE,”I told my dad.
“Really? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, all good, ”I nodded, thankful that he didn't make it a big deal as Mom would have.
“Hey, I made it to school on time.”
“Without getting a speeding ticket?” my dad teased and I nodded my head.
“I'm that good apparently,” I said and he only gave a smile in reply.
“Tell me about your friends,” my dad said after a while and I looked up at him mid bite.
“What?”I asked in confusion.
“You seem to have so much friends lately,” my dad said, “I wanna know who my daughter is hanging out with.”
“Okay, well there's Sydney,” I began,“she's a lawn tennis player. She's pretty cool though and she says her mind most of the time.”
“Yeah, she seems like a nice girl.”
“She is,” I agreed,“then there's Jason. Far of when I look at him, he's not really my kind of person because of his socal standing but his personality is a lot different from what I expected.”
“Really?” my dad asked, “how so?”
“Well, I thought he'd be this really cocky and know–it–all guy but he's just cool and down to earth.”
“Like Matthew?” my dad suggested and I frowned.
“No, he's nothing like Matt.”
“That sounds like a bad thing,”a he said.
Because it is.
I really wanted to tell my dad how mean Matt has always been to me but I couldn't.
He'd look at Matt differently and I didn't want that at all.
Choosing not to reply to his last statement, I went on telling him about my new found friends.
“Then finally Brandon, he's Jason's bestfriend. He's got a thing for Lizzie and Lizzie likes him too so they're dating I think but with no labels yet.”
“And what about you?” my dad asked, “are you dating this Jason guy?”
“What? No of course not,”I answered,“dating is the last thing on my mind right now.”
“Does he know that?”
“I guess, he just wants to be friends.”
“Alright but be safe and smart,” my dad told me,“say no to peer pressure everytime, everyday.”
“I know, dad,”I said with a sigh.
“Just want you to be safe, Sisi,” my dad said and I nodded.
“I know.”
✿
Once all the dishes were washed, dried and stacked, I let Sky do his business in the backyard before I said goodnight to Dad.
In my room, I headed to wardrobe to get an outfit ready for tomorrow.
I pulled out a faded pair of jeans, a plain black long sleeves and my grey sleeveless fleece jacket.
I pulled out my rain girl boots too and I was done.
Sydney was at school today but she was mostly with Owen because he didn't leave her side once.
It was today I realised Sydney was popular too but she didn't let to get head.
As the school's star player’s girlfriend, she was able to sit at the popular table when she wanted to.
She sat there today so Liz and I sat on our own and though I noticed Brandon constantly glancing over at her.
He was whipped.
Everyone but Lizzie saw it.
I didn't bring this to her attention though as she told me about what modeling for V. L was like.
Jason and I were cool too.
We didn't talk much anymore but we gave each other silent acknowledgement which was a smile or a wink here and there.
Then finally, Matt.
For some reason, I got the vibe that he was avoiding me which I didn't mind at all because that was what I wanted but I haven't even set my eyes on him since Monday.
But he'll turn up.
He always does.
Moments later, Sky cuddled up next to me on the bed.
I read a few pages of my school books and when I was done, I headed into the bathroom to brush my teeth then I turned off the lights and buried myself under the blanket but then, my phone vibrated on my bedstand.
A text from GØLD£N BØY:
Goodnight, aesthetic 9:57pm
Just that tiny gesture was enough to put a smile on my face which left me wondering if Lizzie was right afteral.
Jason made me feel like a Superhero.
