Shay's POV
I didn't know if Luna Denise was my mother or not, but just hearing the name made me nervous. She walked into the office and I had my head down, not knowing what to expect.
"Hello Shay, I'm Luna Denise. I'll be your guide."
Hearing her voice, I looked up and fought the tears threatening to fall from my eyes. She looked just like the pictures that my Aunt Maria showed me. I wanted to hug her so badly but I didn't know if I should. I didn't know if Mr. Jensen was the wolf that kidnapped her or if she would get into any type of trouble.
"Hi, Luna Denise. Nice to meet you." She immediately pulled me into a hug, making me release the breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Don't worry sweetheart, Mr. Jensen knows all about us." I looked at Mr. Jensen and he nodded.
"I'll give the two of you a moment to talk before touring the school." Mr. Jensen said, "Welcome to our school, Shay. We're very happy to have you here."
After he left, we sat down and were quiet for a moment before my mom started talking.
"Mr. Jensen is from your father's pack; The Silver Stone Pack. He found his mate, who is the omega that helped me to send the letters. She is now a part of his pack. She felt bad about not being able to send letters for me anymore, so she told Mr. Jensen about what was going on and he offered to help. He's familiar with my pack and does not like the Alpha or the way he does things. He is also familiar with your father. He is not a very liked man, but he's their Alpha's younger brother."
"So Mr. Jensen helped me to get into this school?"
"Yes. He goes through all of the applications and told me to put one in for you. He also convinced my Alpha to allow me to be at the school regularly to help with the girls."
"How is this school supposed to help me learn about being a wolf if humans don't know about wolves and they're in school with me?"
"Well, the school has a lot of athletics and training for students that are wolves. I'm also hoping that you can meet some friends here that can show you around so you can get used to being around others like you. Mr. Jensen has a niece that goes here also. I'll introduce you and maybe she can show you around your father's pack."
"I don't want to be near him. That man did horrible things to you." I was afraid. My father r***d my mom for years before she finally ran away.
"Being seen in that pack will be a good thing for you. Meeting your uncle will be a good thing. He already knows about you. When he sees you, he will know for sure that it is all true. You could be the next heir to their pack."
"Heir? How can I be the next heir to a pack I know nothing about? I thought you said my father's brother was the Alpha. Doesn't that make his child the next heir?"
"His brother is the Alpha. He and his mate are unable to have children. When he found out about you, he wanted to meet you. He was going to pass the Alpha title down to his beta's son but he really wants the pack to be passed down to a family member the way it has always been done. He doesn't want his brother to have the pack. Let's just take everything a day at a time and see what happens."
"This is all a lot to process. I will think about everything. I have just processed being a werewolf and now I have to think about possibly being the heir to a pack of wolves that I know nothing about. And we need to figure out how to get you out of your pack."
"Don't worry about me. If everything works out, I will be away from him and we will be together again. Now let's get on with this tour so you don't miss out on your first day."

Luna Denise's POV
I haven't seen my daughter in 12 years and today I will finally be seeing her. I quickly dressed and dropped my boys off at school before getting into the car for me to be dropped off at the Clear Lake School. I was both excited and nervous. I hadn't seen Shay since she was 5 years old. I couldn't wait to see how beautiful she had become. She was always very smart for her age, so I knew that she would succeed here. I remember her having the prettiest head of curls and the most beautiful gray eyes that she got from her father. On him they looked scary, but on her they always looked beautiful to me.
It took so much self control not to tell my boys about Shay. I didn't want them to mention her by mistake and we end up being punished for some reason. I would introduce them to each other soon. I just had to make sure everything was safe first. They hated being here as much as I did. Their father wasn't a good Alpha. All he cared about was fear and money. He wanted everyone to fear him. He spent money like he had a never-ending supply. Luckily, I handled the paperwork for the businesses the pack owned, so I was able to keep everything running smoothly before he spent every dime the pack owned.
Walking to Mr. Jensen's office, I was a ball of nerves. I know that Shay and Maria moved into the house that Mr. Jensen helped me to get for them. I didn't know whether she wanted to see me or not. I didn't know how this reunion would go. I only hoped that she would be willing to talk to me. That at some point we'd be able to build a good relationship. I knew that she was in good hands with Maria. I couldn't wait to see her. Maria was the sister to me that I never had. We met in the foster home where I got pregnant. We were each other's support system. Our shared experience of not knowing who our parents were made us bond with each other and become the best of friends. The night that we ran away was one of the worst nights ever.
Flashback
We were out of school for Christmas break. Maria and I dreaded breaks from school because that meant we had to stay inside with our foster parents. We would be doing nothing but chores with barely any breaks. We took our time getting to the house trying to enjoy the last bit of fresh air we would be getting until break was over.
When we walked through the front door, we were immediately met by our foster mother Cassandra. "We have guests coming over tonight. Maria, you go to the supermarket and grab everything off this list. Denise, you start cleaning the guest rooms." She handed Maria a paper before walking away.
I grabbed Maria's bag and headed to our room so I could drop them off before going to clean the guest rooms. When I walked into the bedroom, sitting on my bed was the man that gave me nightmares every night. I froze. My brain told me to run but my body hadn't caught up yet. Running would only get me beat before the inevitable happened, but that never stopped me from fighting.
"Come her my sweet chocolate." His voice was as scary as he was. The way he stared at me with lust in his gray eyes. Although his eyes were a beautiful color of gray, they didn't suit him. I was stuck frozen in place until I felt him touch my arm. I immediately went into fight or flight mode. My punches didn't make any difference to him. One slap and I was on the floor holding my busted lip with tears fighting to come out. I was hoping that I could get through this vacation with no visits from him, but no such luck. He's been coming over since I was 13 having his way with me. My foster parents knew what was going on but they never stopped him. It was like they handed me right to him whenever he came.
"Please don't do this," I pleaded with him. This smirk on his face told me that my pleading meant nothing. He grabbed me by my arm and dragged me over to my bed. He began unbuttoning my pants. Before he could get them down, he was interrupted by Maria's voice.
"What the hell are you doing?" Maria yelled and jumped on his back. He flung her off of his back and slapped her hard. I jumped up from the bed and jumped on his back to help Maria. We were punching and kicking to no avail. He flung us both off of him. I guess my foster parents heard all of the noise and came into the room.
"Maria, let's go," My foster mother told her. "This has nothing to do with you."
Maria looked shocked. She sat on the floor not moving. "I'm not leaving Denise here with this animal."
My foster mother walked over and snatched her up by her hair. "Since you don't know the meaning of obedience, you can spend the night in the basement." She dragged Maria out kicking and screaming. I tried to run after her but was grabbed by my nightmare and flung onto the bed. I watched as my foster parents closed the door behind them, leaving me alone with him.
"Now, you're going to be a good girl," he said while taking his clothes off.
I didn't want to get hit again, but I didn't want him on me either. He walked over to me and I immediately started kicking and punching. He slapped me so hard, I felt like I was going to pass out. I couldn't pass out. If I did, he would surely have his way with me with no resistance. He slapped me again then grabbed both hands above my head using one of his hands. My feet were still free so I continued to kick him. One more slap from him and I blacked out.
When I came to, my entire body was sore. He was standing up, putting his clothes back on. "I'll see you tomorrow my sweet chocolate." He walked out the door. I can't take this anymore. That was the last time he would ever put his filthy hands on me. I'm getting out of here tonight even if that means being homeless. But first I needed to get Maria out of the basement. I slowly got up from bed and walked to the bathroom to wash him off of me. It was dark outside, so I hoped that meant everyone was already asleep. After showering, I went looking for my foster mother's purse so that I could get the key to the basement. While I had her bag, I took the cash she had in there also. We would need every bit we could find. I quickly opened the basement door and walked down the stairs.
"Maria, Maria, are you awake?" I called out for her.
"Denise, what are you doing down here? Are you OK?" She ran over to me, grabbing me into a hug.
"We're getting out of here now and never coming back," I told her. "We don't have much time. The sun will be up soon, so we need to move fast. Pack as much as you can fit into one bag and let's go."
I didn't have to say anymore. We ran up the stairs and immediately started packing when we got into our bedroom. We didn't know where we were going but we knew we couldn't stay here. We knew that we would make it as long as we were together. We spent the next few days staying in the cheapest motel we could find. A few weeks later I woke up nauseous with an extreme headache. I couldn't hold anything down. This went on for two days before Maria convinced me to take a pregnancy test. I couldn't believe I was pregnant by that monster. As much as I hated him, I couldn't get rid of my baby. I knew what it felt like to be unwanted. I didn't know how far along I was, but I knew that with a baby there would be a lot of changes and we had to get our lives together.
***Present Day***
It was rough raising Shay at first because we were just teenagers and kept running trying not to get caught and placed back into the foster care system. We stayed in hotels and worked odd jobs saving up money to find ourselves a place. We got on a bus to New York City when Shay was just a few months old. From that day, things seemed to get better for us. We found a place to stay with cheap rent and we were happy until the night when everything changed.
After touring the school with Shay, I left the school to head back to the pack. I wanted to stay longer but there was an urgent matter at my son's school that needed my assistance. I'm sure he told them to call me instead of his father. It's not like he would go anyway. All he cared about was making his son a feared Alpha like he was. Little did he know, that was never going to happen.
