Chapter 5

2095 Words
Alpha David's POV "Don't worry Luna Denise. Everything will work out.....Ok. Talk to you soon." I just spoke with Luna Denise on the phone. She told me that her daughter had arrived today. Honestly, I was excited about meeting her. I truly was hoping that she was my niece. As much as I despised my brother and was even more disgusted with him when I found out what he did to Luna Denise as a child, Shay was a product of that and may be just what my pack needs. All Alphas need an heir but shortly after I found my mate, we found out that she could not have pups due to a traumatic accident from her childhood. That didn't stop me from loving her though. After months of trying to figure things out, I made the decision that I would pass the Alpha title to my Beta's son, Isaiah. My Beta and I grew up together. Just as my family had run the pack as Alpha for many generations, his family line had always been the Beta family. Unfortunately, that would end with me. With his son taking over as Alpha, my family line would basically end, until I heard of Shay. I hated to take the Alpha title away from Isaiah before he even gets it, but I know he would understand why. Shay just learned about being a wolf, so I'm not exactly sure how she would feel about everything. She grew up as a human and humans don't know of our existence. It would be a lot for anyone to take in. Once I finished my phone conversation, I headed out so I could look for my mate. I was making my way down the steps when I heard giggles. I looked and saw my Beta and Gamma's children with another girl that I didn't recognize. I walked over to them and when she turned around, the first thing I noticed were her eyes. "You must be Shay." I smiled at her. "I'm Alpha David. Nice to meet you." She looked like Luna Denise except her skin was a lighter brown, her hair was curly and she had my family's eyes. There was no denying she was a member of my family. Luna Denise said that she was hesitant about being here and learning about being the possible heir to my pack was a big shock to her. Hopefully, I could convince her that she could do it. I knew it was all new to her, but with my help I was sure that she could be a great Alpha. My brother didn't know of my plans to make my Beta's son the next Alpha and he didn't know of Shay's existence. I wanted to keep it that way. "Could we talk for a moment?" I asked her. "I promise to get you back to your friends quickly." "Sure," she replied. I mind linked the girls, letting them know that it was important for me to speak with Shay and to keep it between us. They were good girls and I'm happy she made friends with the right group of people, but I still wanted to be sure that our meeting was kept private. When we got into my office, I sat with her on the sofa. "How are you adjusting?" I asked her. "So far everything is going OK. I made some friends, as you can tell, and they've been filling me in on what I should know about being a wolf." "And how do you feel about that? About being a wolf?" "I mean, it's still a lot to take in, but I guess I really don't have a choice, since in a few months I will be turning into a wolf myself. I don't know if I'll ever get used to it." "I'm here to help in any way I can." "Thank you. I really appreciate that." "I know this is all new to you but the reason I asked you here was to discuss you becoming Alpha." "I'm new to being a wolf and I don't know anything about being in control of a pack. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think I can accept the offer." "I can train you. Whether or not you become Alpha, you'll need some training." "Training would be great if it would help me learn how to control myself. But I still have to decline your offer to be Alpha." "How about we start with training and see what happens with that. We'll take things slowly and work our way up." "That sounds like a plan." "For your training, either myself or my beta will train you. Nobody knows about you and I don't want anyone to try to harm you because of who you are. Also, I don't want my brother to know of your existence as of yet." "I don't want him to know about me either. I don't want to be near him at all. I have a question. Will training and becoming stronger help me be able to get my mother away from her pack?" "Yes, and I have a plan for that as well. Don't worry. Luna Denise is a very special person. I don't condone the way her mate has treated her nor do I like the way he runs his pack. That will all be over very soon." "Thank you. I'd like to be a part of whatever plans you have." "You are a big part of my plan. Everything will work out." Shay's POV After leaving Alpha David's office, I headed back to the girls. He said he trusted them and that it would be OK for me to tell them what was going on and maybe they would be able to give me some helpful advice. I opened the room door and I could hear them giggling as I walked in. "What's going on here?" I asked, sitting beside Kaylee on the bed. "We're just talking about the party this Saturday and who we hope our mates will be," Sarah answered. "I haven't found my mate yet, so I figure either he is younger than me or he isn't from our pack. Hopefully, I'll find out on Saturday." "What if your mate isn't who you are hoping for?" I asked them. "The mood goddess pairs us with who is right for us, so I will be OK with whoever my mate is," Melissa answered. "But its ok to fantasize. Like I've had a crush on this warrior Zachary for as long as I can remember. He's 19 already and he's so handsome. I know that he hasn't found his mate yet." "So if he's already of age does that mean he knows you're his mate already?" I asked. From what they told me, you can smell your mate at 18. "If your mate is older than you, yes they can tell that you're already their mate. Some try to build a relationship with their younger mate and some wait until their mate is 18 and recognizes them on their own," she answered. Hmmm. That was interesting. That meant that if I did have a mate here and they were older than me, they would know that I was their mate before I did. This made me nervous. I haven't met any of the male wolves here and our school was an all-girl school, so the chance of me running into there seemed rare to me. That was kind of a good thing for me because it would give me time to learn who I am as a wolf. "Kaylee, you still didn't tell us who you were hoping to have as a mate," Melissa said. Kaylee was quiet for a few minutes and looked as if she was thinking of an answer. "I want to keep it a secret," she said." Melissa was about to say something but Kaylee quickly spoke first. "So, Shay, why did the Alpha need to speak to you and how does he know you?" I began to tell them about Luna Denise being my mom and how the Alpha wants me to take on the role as the next Alpha since it is technically my birthright. I told them about the training and how excited I was about it. They all looked sad when I told them about my mom. They all seemed excited about having a female Alpha except Kaylee, who I noticed had a far off look in her eyes when I mentioned it. I'd expected Melissa and Alyssa to feel a way about that possibility, since their brother was supposed to take that place, but they seemed genuinely happy. They said being Beta was something that their brother had always been groomed to be and although he was honored to be considered for Alpha, he was hesitant at first and was still nervous. "So are you going to accept his offer?" Melissa asked. "I declined the offer but he said, let's start with the training and see where we go from there." "It's a lot of work and you're new to this," Kaylee told me. "But the title is rightfully yours," Sarah interjected. "She'll have to learn wolf laws and a lot of other things about what it takes to be an Alpha. It's going to be a lot of work," Kaylee said. It sounded like she was pushing for me to decline the offer even though the other girls were pushing me to take it. Alyssa gave her a confused look. "We can help you learn all that you need to learn and we can even help with the training. You're one of us now and we help each other." "I'll think about it," I told them. "I should head home now. We have school in the morning and I need some sleep." "Alpha David has one of the warriors set to take you home. Come on, I'll walk you down," Alyssa offered. I said bye to the other girls and headed downstairs with Alyssa. "You should spend Friday night here so we can all get dressed for the party together and you can celebrate our birthdays with us," she suggested. "That'll be cool but I have to ask my aunt first." I got into the car and headed home with the conversation I had with Alpha David and the girls in my mind. I decided to let everything play out and see where it all takes me. Kaylee's POV After Shay left, I made up an excuse to leave and headed to my room. I had a feeling Alpha David wanted to talk to her about the Alpha title. It was clear by looking at her eyes that she was related to him. She was a nice girl, but I didn't know how I felt about her being Alpha. Not only was she new to being a wolf, but her being Alpha threatened my chance of being Luna. I didn't want to say who I hoped my mate would be because the girls didn't know about my crush. I had a crush on the twin's brother Isaiah forever. He is who I hope was my mate. I know that he had been dating Ivy for a while, but I also know that they began drifting apart after he turned 18. He must've been able to sense that she wasn't his mate. Ever since I found out that there was a chance of him being the next Alpha, all I could dream about was being by his side as his Luna and ruling the pack together. I would be happy with him as my mate whether he was Alpha or not, but I had become obsessed with being Luna and I couldn't let anything get in the way of that. I felt that he must be my mate because the moon goddess wouldn't let me be madly in love with someone who wasn't my mate. We were destined to be together. I just knew it. All I had to do was wait until my birthday, when we would finally know and be connected as one. Then I could convince him that him being Alpha and me being Luna was what was best for the pack. In the meantime, I'll try to convince Shay why being Alpha wasn't a good idea for her. After showering, I threw on my silk pajama shorts and tank. I got into my bed and drifted off to a peaceful sleep dreaming of being with Isaiah.
