Chapter 5

627 Words
Adriane's POV It's been a week since Ella's visit and I've been itching to call or send her a message but I'm just too shy. I don't know what's wrong with me, I was so close in pretending that I was too dumb to understand simple English instructions to fill out an application online but I realized that could just turn her off. Let's just say I don't have the courage to take a chance on her. Today, I went to an interview at City hall. I applied as a part time customer service representative at one of their counters and now I'm headed to the University to have my transcript reviewed before enrolment. I'm still getting used to these transit buses since I've been here for only a month and right now I don't even know if I'm headed the right way. University Crescent - the stop flashed on the screen I pressed on the stop button, then got off the bus. "What the?..Oh, God! I'm lost." I called my sister and she laughed so hard when I told her I don't know where I am. She told me to cross the street and I should see a mall with Walmart, there will be a bus stop where I should catch the route 60 to get to the University and the stop I should get off is - University Crescent at Main and not just University Crescent. "Why would they name bus stops almost the same, ugh!" I said to myself scratching my head while walking towards Walmart. When I got there, the route 60 bus will not be there for the next 30 minutes. "Just my luck!" frustrated, I headed to Walmart to grab a drink and cool off my head. ***** Ella's POV I woke up late today, I don't have any client appointments for the next three days. I've been drowning my self with work for the last couple of days, still looking forward to receive a text or call from Adriane. I don't even know why I'm expecting. Ugh!! the thoughts of it makes me crazy, I buried my face on my pillow. I glanced on my clock and it's already quarter after one in the afternoon and I haven't eaten anything since last night. I got up and went down stairs and didn't find my mom anywhere. On the dining table there's a note for me... I went to Walmart to grab some supplies, call me if you want anything - mom I grabbed my phone to call her and ask her to bring me some nuggets. *Ring*...*Ring*...*Ring* That's weird.. the ringing sounds really loud but I'm not on speaker phone. I listened carefully and found my mom's phone on top of the fridge. "Great!" I said rolling my eyes. I just grabbed my car keys, put on a hoodie and shorts then headed to Walmart to get the nuggets my self and look for my mom. I imagine her asking every staff in there about her phone. When I got to Walmart I checked the customer service counter if she's there talking to them, but she wasn't. Maybe she haven't realized yet that she doesn't have her phone, I thought. I walked around scanning the aisles where she could possibly go. I was so focused looking for my mom that I didn't notice an empty cart in front of me, I bumped it then it rolled in the middle of the aisle and hit a stack of toilet papers and it went down like bowling pins. "Aw!" I heard someone say. I rushed over to help who ever it is that was hit. "I'm so sorry, I didn't see the cart. Are you o..kay?" almost not finishing my sentence when I recognize the person sitting on the floor rubbing her thighs. "I'm fine, don't worry" Adriane answered.
