Chapter 35Destinova loosened his grip and pushed Mike Angelo away without an ounce of effort, after which the detective fell down to his knees, stunned and shaken. Angelo attempted to stand up but failed, and barely managed to support himself with his arm to avoid collapsing completely on the floor. He saw fragments of times long gone and a man resembling Destinova, only bearing a different name then, a common name, scared senseless in the bowels of a demolished ship. He lived through centuries of progress and strife, he felt Destinova’s sorrow after he had been told what he must do. The mind of a man less stubborn and less strong than Mike Angelo would have likely melted from this travail, or at the very least remained forever damaged.
