“We don’t have to do this,” Aaron said, walking up to support Zach. “Too late.” The girl with the axes jumped right into the fray. “We can find...a way...to work this out.” Aaron blocked her attack with his Naginata. There was precious little room to move around, restricting the combatants from making use of their environment. As Aaron continued blocking blows, he realized that this girl wasn’t playing for the first time. Dual-wielding took extreme skill and she was doing it without breaking a sweat. After a short burst of close quarter fighting, the blonde-haired girl jumped back, unable to penetrate Aaron’s defences. Aaron thought that would be the end of it, but he was far from right. “Izzy, take point!” “Sure thing, sis!” The blue-haired shield bearer stepped in front, allowing the other girl to make a tactical retreat. It was clear they were now going to fight as a pair. “Looks like they wanna do this the hard way.” Aaron backed away to a safe distance. With his eyes fixed on the enemy, he held his blade diagonally across his chest. Zach didn’t need verbal cues to tell him what Aaron needed. They had been playing together for over 10 years now. “I got your back, bro!” The younger girl put her shield forward and dug her feet into the ground. “Braveheart!” A bright yellow light flashed from her fist, coating her shield with a golden sheen. Aaron took this time to quickly scan both his opponents. The younger one was playing a Geomancer and had picked the defender class. The axe-wielding blonde, on the other hand, was playing an Aeromancer berserker. It was a balanced team, with high sustained damage as well as a well-rounded defence. Both the girls were at level 25 and equipped with rare metal armour. Even their weapons were of a much superior quality than Aaron and Zach. The Hercules’ Aura skill had boosted their physical strength and Fortification had added +100 points to their defence. Aaron knew it wouldn’t be an easy fight, but he prepared to give it his best. “I didn’t want to do this. But, you’ve left me no choice!” Aaron charged up his Naginata and dashed forward. His steel clanged against the heavy iron shield and he was pushed back by a counter-force. He landed on his back with a heavy thud. “Petrify!” the blue-haired one cried aloud. Aaron tried to get back up, but his limbs became heavy. His skin hardened and he turned into a living statue. The berserker seized the opportunity and leaped forward to deliver the finishing blow.  “Magic blast!” A charged attack from Zach’s staff knocked the blonde girl out of the air, pushing her right into the shield-bearer behind her. “Argh. Stupid magic caster!” Zach rushed to Aaron’s aid and cast his Curia skill to remove the effects of the petrifying skill. “f**k, I hate this effect!” Aaron slowly got back on his feet and drank an HP potion. Cracking his neck, he stretched himself out before pulling out his knives. “I got a surprise for you!” Aaron tossed all 12 knives in the air and jumped back. “Fists of Fury!” As Aaron’s rapid punches made contact with the throwing knives, they were launched forward at blinding speed. The projectiles had as much momentum as steel-tipped arrows and pierced right through the berserker’s steel armour. “Sister!” Before Aaron could follow up with another attack, the defender slammed her shield on the ground. “Earth Blast!” The impact shook the ground, causing a tremor which cracked open the cave’s floor, splitting the earth in half. “Oh, f**k!” Aaron almost slipped into the crevice! “No!” A desperate lunge helped Zach grab hold of Aaron’s hand at the last moment. He pulled him up and they cautiously backed away from the c***k. At the other side of the cave, the two girls found themselves in a world of trouble. Using such a devastating AOE skill in a small cave like this was inviting danger. The Earth Blast had weakened not just the floor, but the cave’s walls as well. “We need to get out of here! It’s coming down!” Zach shouted, staring at the crumbling walls. Aaron, however, didn’t head for the exit. Instead, he ran right up to the fault-line separating the two teams. The two girls were trapped on the other side. “What the hell are you doing, bro?” Zach screamed. “I’ve gotta get them out of here!” “f**k! Just leave them to their fate. We don’t need the competition!” “I’m not leaving without them!” “Are you f*****g crazy? They were trying to kill us a minute ago!” Zach cried out in vain, his voice cracking. “Get back here!” Without heeding Zach’s words, Aaron walked to the very edge of the crevice. It was several miles deep. One slip and it would be game over. “I’m sorry, sis. I was just trying to help,” the blue-haired girl cried out in panic. “You did well,” came the calm, unfaltering reply. The older girl remained surprisingly unaffected by this crisis. It was as if she still wasn’t able to fully grasp the imminent danger. Or perhaps it didn’t matter to her. She caught her younger sister by the arm and proceeded to look for another way out. There was always the option of heading deeper into the cave and seeing where it opened on the other side, but for all they knew, it could be a dead end. The girls had eliminated all the goblins inside, but they hadn’t spotted any openings deeper inside. “I’ll get us out of here,” the blonde-haired girl spoke with conviction. She pulled her sister behind and headed for the cave’s maw. This proved to be another dead end, as a large chunk of stalactite came crashing down, blocking their path. “Hey! You’re gonna get yourself killed!” Aaron screamed. “You have to jump across this crevice! This is the only way out.” The older girl stopped to reconsider, but the younger one placed her faith in her sister. “We will get out of here just fine.” She looked into her eyes and whispered, “I trust you, Maddy.” Another chunk of the ceiling broke off, landing inches from where they were standing. “He’s right; we have to get to the other side. There’s only one exit,” the older girl said. “But, we are all fully armoured. We can’t make that jump! And I’m a defender. I don’t have enough agility.” “Izzy, I’ll think of a way. I promise, we’ll make it to the other side.” The cave suddenly shook again, widening the c***k in the middle. Its walls came crumbling down and pieces of the stalactite started dropping all over the place. “f**k! Just right there!” Aaron shouted, holding up his hand. “I’ll get to you!”
