Many games had skill trees where the player could advance down a particular branch and augment a specific skill set. This was also included in Evolution Island in the form of evolutionary pathways. However, the concept of skill combination was brand new. No other RPGs allowed players to combine their skills to create a whole new skill.
The skill combo menu was not there in the previous version of the game and was only introduced after the recent update. Aaron took his time reading the rules for skill combination. It was mentioned that the skill combination system was only unlocked at Rank 3, which is why only Aaron had access to it. The others in his party were still in the second stage of their evolution and could only modify pre-existing abilities or skills.
