Alex ran until he couldn’t feel anything except the rush of wind against his face. His legs burned, but he didn’t stop. He was chasing the vampire they had been hunting for days. Jonas, the rogue who had been running with them, split off in the opposite direction, blocking the vampire’s only escape route. “Surrender, bloodsucker!” Alex shouted, his voice echoing through the forest. “Never!” the vampire hissed. He raised his hand, and a bolt of lightning shot out, striking a tree. The massive trunk cracked and toppled, almost crushing Alex beneath it.
