After making sure everything that could lead the traffickers back to the pack was destroyed, Croxx finally headed home. The vampire sat unconscious in the backseat of his car, handcuffed with a special device that blocked his powers. Darryl had lent them the device for the mission. Only a few had been made so far, and they wanted to keep it secret from the public.
When Croxx arrived at the pack’s border, he saw Nox already waiting at the entrance. He stopped the car and stepped out.
“Is everyone safe?” Nox asked, his voice steady.
“Yes, Alpha. Samuel was injured during the fight. The vampire stabbed him with ice,” Croxx replied, glancing toward the back of the vehicle.
Nox followed his gaze and saw the unconscious vampire lying in the back seat, his hands bound tightly.
“Take this bastard to the cells. Make sure Samuel gets treated right away,” Nox ordered. “I’ll contact Darryl myself,” he added.
“Understood, Alpha,” Croxx said with a nod before getting back into the car to bring the prisoner to the holding cells.
Nox took out his phone and dialed Darryl’s number. After three rings, the call was answered.
“Nox,” Darryl greeted.
“Darryl,” Nox replied. “The mission was a success. We have the vampire locked up in the holding cell.”
“I’ll be there soon,” Darryl said before ending the call.
An hour and a half later, a sleek car pulled up in front of the packhouse. Darryl stepped out and quickly moved to the passenger side to open the door for his husband, Keith.
“Alpha Nox,” Keith greeted warmly as he stepped out. “Nice to see you again,” he added.
“Nice to see you too, Keith,” Nox replied with a small smile. “Noah’s in the kitchen, by the way. He doesn’t know you’re here yet—he’s going to be surprised,” he added. Keith chuckled, his eyes lighting up.
“Then I better go see him.”
He leaned over and gave Darryl a quick kiss on the cheek before heading inside.
“You two catch up. I’ll be with Noah.”
Nox turned to Darryl.
“Come on. Let’s talk in my office.”
Darryl nodded and followed him inside.
Keith sneak behind Noah to surprised him but there was a kid who peaked at him making him stop and looked at him.
Keith quietly sneaked up behind Noah, hoping to surprise him. But just as he was about to speak, a small child peeked at him from behind Noah, making him pause.
“Noah?” Keith called, snapping out of his thoughts.
Noah turned and smiled. “Keith?”
“Surprised?” Keith said with a grin.
Noah chuckled and pulled him into a warm hug. They had grown close ever since Dolly introduced them—Keith and Darryl were the ones who saved her.
“It’s been a while,” Noah said as he pulled away.
“Yeah, long enough that I didn’t know you have a kid now,” Keith replied, glancing at the little boy hiding behind Noah. Noah laughed and gently took the boy’s hand.
“This is Alexander,” he said. “Didn’t Darryl tell you?” he asked.
Keith shook his head as they all sat down. Noah helped Alexander into his seat and served him some food.
“I’ve been really busy these past few weeks,” Keith explained. “Another studio of mine is opening soon, and I’ve had to prepare all my work,” he added.
He leaned back with a smile. “So... tell me everything.”
"Alexander, can you go to your room, please?" Noah said gently. He didn’t want the little boy to hear what they were about to talk about.
Alexander nodded, and Noah helped him down from his chair. His small feet padded across the floor before he ran out of the dining room.
Once Noah was sure Alexander was gone, he let out a long sigh.
“Traffickers,” he said. “Alex—our warrior—found rogues in the area. They fought them, and during the fight, they discovered the rogues were carrying children. Children meant to be fed to vampires,” he added.
Keith’s eyes widened in shock. “What the hell?!”
“They’re eating children, Keith. Burning smaller packs just to take them,” Noah said. His voice was tight with anger. “Alexander... he was one of those children,” he added.
“f*****g bloodsuckers,” Keith muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. “I feel so sorry for the kid,” he added.
“He’s been staying here since then,” Noah explained. “He only listens to Nox or me. He doesn’t talk much, but he feels safe here.” Keith looked down, guilt creeping into his chest.
“Gods... I hate that I didn’t know any of this. I should’ve been more involved. Maybe I could’ve helped those kids,” he said.
“They’re already tracking down the traffickers,” Noah said. “They’re working with Daryl to find more of them,” he added.
“They should,” Keith replied firmly. His jaw tightened. “No child should ever go through that,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Nox’s office. Darryl stood near the window while Nox leaned against his desk. They had just finished their talk about the mission. Now, they waited for news from the guards—waiting for the vampire to wake up.
“Still unconscious?” Darryl asked without looking away from the window. Nox nodded.
“They said he’s breathing fine. Just knocked out. We gave him the cuff you lent us. His powers are fully blocked,” he said. Darryl crossed his arms.
“That thing’s still in prototype stage. We only made five. Not even our council knows yet.”
“Good,” Nox said. “The fewer people know, the better,” he added. Darryl turned to face him.
“What else did you find?”
Nox walked to the table and picked up the printed photo he had shown earlier. He handed it to Darryl again.
“This is the SUV they used,” he said. Darryl looked at the photo.
“And the vampire?”
“Croxx got a clear look at him,” Nox said. “Crimson eyes. Ice power, that's all,” he added.
Just then, a knock came on the door. One of the guards stepped in.
“Alpha. He’s awake.”
Nox and Darryl looked at each other.
“Let’s go,” Nox said, standing tall. “Time to get answers,” he added.
Darryl gave a small nod and followed him out the door, the photo still in his hand.
