Diego~ "Shii! shii! she is going to kill me for being late. I groaned in frustration. The impromptu meeting took most of the time, "I could have waited till I'm back but no, I had to address the situation. My ego could not let go for a few minutes while I tried to find out when she first came. '' I wondered. "This is bad," I commented, seeing her men patrolling the area. "Can't you hurry? I shouted at my driver " This is fastest, I'm driving sir, any further might end our lives," he mentioned. "Just hurry up," I shouted. Constantly checking the time, I can only hope she waits. I'm not sure if I will be getting another chance, watching the driver as he packs well, I could help but jump out of the car. Getting to the restaurant, I could not find her anywhere, I hoped she hadn't left, I pleaded within. "Good afternoon sir," a waiter greeted " I'm here for Miss Don," I replied right away. "Very well sir, follow me," the waiter directed. He led me to a private suite meant just for VIPs. What was I thinking, she always has good taste "You're late," she began, leaving no room for pleasantries. " I'm sorry, I got caught up in the ruckus your visit caused," I answered "Oh, I was only returning the favor," she replied sweetly. " That sounds scarier than a gun to be my head," I admitted. "Good, maybe you will work harder on your security, I notice you don't carry any around," she pointed out "I like being low key," I said " For someone intelligent as you are, you sound really stupid," she commented. Realizing my mistake, I turned back to address the waiter who has been waiting for a while. I guess he has been instructed that way. " I will go for the shrimp and the grits alongside the avocado sandwich," I said, looking through the menu. " I will have this same," she ordered as well. "Very ma'am, I will have my leave now," he said and turned to leave. "I'm surprised you didn't order immediately," I said. "No, I didn't. I lost my appetite after watching a live porno," she replied, reminding me of the unfortunate incident in the office. " I know that wasn't professional of me, but it's not what you think," I explained "Please, spare me the details, I will survive," she replied. "So...what are we doing here?" I asked "Well...she stammered " Cat bite your tongue," I teased. "You can say that," she replied while reaching for the water on the table. "Take your time, there is no pressure," I assured her. " I think, I meant to say, it would be better if we worked together to beat down Madam's Joyce," she explained. "You think?" I asked, trying to persuade her to talk further. There must be a reason for the change of heart. "Well… I had a personal encounter with her a while back," she continued. In the process of her speaking, the waiter came in with her order, giving her a breather for the meantime. Emerald I never figured it was going to be this hard to open up. " I'm going to get Dominic for putting this idea in my heart, what was I thinking? Working with the Echeverria? But they have lost a lot in the case," I wondered. Watching the waiter serve our order, I could breathe for a while before I proceed. "If that's all, I will take my leave then," the waiter mentioned, I nodded to relieve him. Engrossed in our lunch, I could feel his eyes roaming my body, checking for a sort of emotion or weakness, or maybe I'm just being paranoid. "Emerald? He called out, breaking off my thoughts. " What encounter did you have with Madam Joyce, nothing was in your record," he said. "It's not just the Echeverria that are good at keeping secrets," I mentioned. "Hmmm, enlighten me then," he answered with a confused look. "It's no big secret, I was adopted by my father, Stefan but what people didn't know, I was rescued by then from the clutches of Madam Joyce," I explained. "You mean, you were kidnapped also," he replied in disbelief "No, I was sold off by my birth mom," I confessed. "You mean….your mother sold…," still in total confusion, he tried to get everything in. "There are monsters larger than us in the world," I laughed "I guess, I'm sorry, I thought you were involved with her one way or the another," he apologised "Hell no, I was never involved, instead I was trying to get her," I replied " Okay," he agreed. "Okay?" I asked, trying to understand what he meant. "I guess we have to work together," he admitted. " In good faith, I have some information for you then," I stated. "Go on," he said, eyeing my every movement "It's been brought to my notice, your sister's kidnap wasn't random," I revealed, avoiding the fact that I watched his sister take her last breath. "What do you mean?" He asked. " According to my intel, it was orchestrated by someone who is clearly after your family. Why will Madam Joyce risk everything she has worked to upset your family if she wasn't working under instructions?" I explained. "But… who will that be?" He asked. " That's still under investigation, what I know for sure, she has a lot of backings and we need to be careful," I demanded. "That's all for today, I will take my leave now Mr. Diego, when you feel much better, we can talk more about the grounds of our alliances," I added, while I took my leave.
