The days passed peacefully as Christian settled into his new routine at Mr. Daniel's café. Every morning, he arrived before sunrise, swept the floors, arranged the tables, and prepared everything before the first customer walked through the door. Although the work was tiring, he never complained. Instead, he treated every task as an opportunity to grow. His polite attitude and willingness to help soon earned him the respect of both his employer and the regular customers. Many visitors began asking specifically for Christian because of his warm smile and excellent service.
One evening, after the last customer had left and the café had closed for the day, Mr. Daniel called Christian to the counter.
"You've only been here for a few weeks," the elderly man said with a gentle smile, "yet you work harder than anyone I've ever hired. You never arrive late, you never complain, and you always put others before yourself. Tell me, where did you learn such discipline?"
Christian was silent for a brief moment. Memories of his father filled his mind.
"My father taught me," he replied softly. "He always said that no honest job is beneath a man who has character. He believed respect is earned through hard work, not wealth."
Mr. Daniel nodded with admiration.
"Your father raised you well. Hold on to those values, and your future will be brighter than you can imagine."
Christian smiled politely, but deep inside, he felt the weight of the secret he carried. He wanted to tell the old man who he truly was—the heir to one of the richest families in the country—but he knew he couldn't. The family trial was far from over.
Far away, the luxurious Adams Family estate stood proudly beneath the moonlit sky. Inside his private study, Matthew Adams sat at the head of a long table while senior family elders and trusted advisers waited quietly.
A bodyguard stepped forward and bowed respectfully.
"Sir, Young Master Christian has adjusted well to life in Metropolis. He has secured employment at a small café and has refused every attempt we made to secretly assist him."
Matthew smiled faintly.
"Good. He's beginning to understand the true value of hard work."
One elderly adviser frowned.
"Family Head, isn't it time to end the test? The young master has already endured enough hardship."
Matthew's expression became serious.
"The greatest danger to our family doesn't come from our enemies. It comes from those who smile while hiding betrayal. If Christian cannot survive hardship now, he will never survive the battles awaiting him as the future head of the Adams Family."
The room fell into complete silence.
Later that night, Christian finished work and began walking home through the crowded streets of Metropolis. The city was still alive with flashing lights and busy traffic.
As he passed a narrow alley, a frightened voice cried out.
"Help! Somebody, please!"
Without thinking twice, Christian rushed towards the sound.
Three street thugs had cornered a young man, demanding his wallet and phone.
Christian stepped in front of the terrified stranger.
"Leave him alone," he said calmly.
The leader laughed.
"And who do you think you are?"
"Someone who won't let you hurt him."
The three men charged at him together.
Years of disciplined martial arts training immediately took over. Christian dodged every punch with ease, disarmed one attacker, swept another to the ground, and knocked the leader backwards with a single powerful strike. Realising they had chosen the wrong opponent, the thugs quickly fled into the darkness.
The young man stared at Christian in amazement.
"You saved my life. Thank you! My name is Ryan."
Christian smiled and offered his hand.
"I'm Christian."
Ryan shook his hand firmly.
"I'll never forget what you did for me. One day, I'll repay this kindness."
Neither of them realised that this chance meeting would change both their lives forever.
As Christian walked away into the night, a shadowy figure watched from the rooftop of a nearby building. He quietly raised his phone.
"I've found him," he whispered.
A cold voice replied from the other end.
"Keep watching. Do not reveal yourselves... not yet."
For the first time since arriving in Metropolis, Christian's hidden identity had attracted the attention of dangerous enemies who were patiently waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
