Our Time

A Day Out

We walked outside to the waiting cars.

“Your father insisted we take guards. He said it’s for our safety.” My mother said.

We had 4 guards. We took 2 different cars just to have a day out with our mother. We drove to the strip mall.

We did a lot of shopping and headed to eat dinner at Tony’s Diner. Normally they are super packed but today they were not.

“I called in a favor and had Tony close shop early. Be easier to talk freely.” Said my mom.

“Ah! Josephine! It’s been a long time. How are you doing?” said Tony.

“I am good Tony. It has been a long time. I hope business is booming.” Said my mom embracing this man in a hug.

“It is.” He said then looked at me and Julie. “Who are these beautiful creatures?” Tony questions.

“These are my daughters, Tony.” My mother said proudly. She looked at us a looked back at Tony. She grabbed me and said “This is Rosalie. She is engaged and going to be married in a few months.” Turned to Julie and pulled her close, “and this is my baby girl Julie.”

In that moment I notice a sparkle in my mother’s dark brown eyes. Her hair put in a ponytail. She was happy in this moment. This is a moment she never got after I took up alpha duties and they found out Julie could track. We were always so busy.

“Well, may I say, Rosalie looks just like you Josephine. Julie on the hand looks like that notorious Marcos.” He said laughed at that last statement.

My mother laughed along. Notorious… What did my father do to get that name? Julie and I looked at each other with confusion. Julie shrugs her shoulders and we just chuckled.

“Anyways, what can I make you three ladies?” says Tony.

“Make your best rolled lasagna and fried ravioli Tony. Can we also get three salads? A Cobb for Julie and me but for Julie extra cheese and 2 sides of ranch. Cesar for Rosalie with extra sauce and croutons.” She just knows us. I love my mother.

He left after taking our order and went to the kitchen. Later a lady comes out. With our water with a side of lemons.

“Josephine! You still look so radiant. These must the daughters you were talking about.” She speaks.

“Yes Gem. These are my girls. How have you been? I see you two are expecting another pup.” My mother says.

“Twins, Josephine. The others were not expecting us to still have a pup now a days.” She says to my mother.

“Neither was I.” she said with a laugh.

“I have not seen you two since you were both born. It’s been so long. Rosalie you look like your mother and Julie you look like your father.” Says the lady with a smile. She looks like my mother but with light brown hair and dark brown eyes. Her face is a little rounder and lips are thin. You can tell She was ready to have the pups because she belly was huge.

“OH! Sorry girls! This is my sister and your aunt Gem. Tony is her mate. He is the prince of the human world. His brother took over the thrown as king and he took up a hobby of this diner.” Says my mother.

Just then Tony comes back out with a tray of food. He brought out 3 dishes of salad, 2 plates of ravioli, 3 big plates of roll lasagna and a big heaping plate of mozzarella sticks.

“Tony, you didn’t have too.” My mother said pointing at the mozzarella sticks.

“Why not?” While he placed it right in front of me. I looked at him confused.

“Darling, he still thinks your 2 years old. You had such a big appetite, but you would only eat those mozzarella sticks.” Says Aunt Gem.

“I am sure she would eat it all Josephine.” he said.

We started digging in. These mozzarella sticks were amazing. I love rolled lasagna. And the salad was dressed just right. We were enjoying dinner and listening to old memories of my father and mother. It was nice to not have to worry about my alpha duties.

“Well, it was nice while it lasted Gem. Sounds like the old man is calling us back to the pack.” Said my mother. When did he call… must have mind linked her?

“So soon. Can’t you stay the night?” Aunt Gem says.

“I would love too. But duties call.” Said my mother looking at me then at Julie.

“Ah! Seems like Rosalie is taking up the Alpha role.” Said Tony.

“More than that. Julie is our head tracker. She has been tracking the rouges that have been attacking our lands. We have near weed them out, but we also have to do it for the Silver Moon Pack.” Said my mother.

“That is more than enough for us to let you three go home. I am sure there is a lot to get done.” Said Tony.

“Before I forget. We will be sending invitations out for Rosalie’s Wedding that is coming soon. We are combining packs of Golden Moon and Silver Moon. I wanted to let you both know ahead of time.” Said my mother.

“Well congratulations. Did you find your mate?” Said my aunt Gem.

“Gem. Its an arranged marriage…” said my mother with a sad look.

My aunt Gem just stared at my mother with her mouth opened. It took her a bit but then she looked at Tony then back at my mother.

“ARE YOU INSANE!? Do you know what kind of an impact that would make on her life? FOR GODDESS’S SAKE SHE IS AN ALPHA!” Aunt Gem started saying and getting a little upset with my mother. “WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD AGREE TO THIS AND TAKE AWAY THE LOVE YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM YOUR MATE.”

My mother sat there for a little bit and looked at me. I looked at my now very hormonal aunt Gem.

“I know its not an ideal thing Aunt Gem. Our lands come before our love. I am sure one day my mate will understand when it comes down to it.” I responded. It wasn’t the best, but it was an answer after all.

She looked at me with angry eyes before it softens to a sad and unhappy eye. She started crying. “It’s something my father would have said to us. Its not the best choice but it’s the only choice we have.”

I agreed with her, and she hugged me. We said our goodbyes and got back into the car. Before I could leave there was a feeling in my gut, and you could see that Julie had perked up too. There was a sense in the air that we were being watched.

I looked at Julie and I could see that she was looking at the woods behind the restaurant. She knew the same thing I did. There was a wolf there. One that does not belong here. It was not a rouge. She sat there for a while. My mother called for us to get in the car.

I had mind link the guards that were with us. Seems like everyone was on the same page but my mother. I saw my aunt Gem give me a confused look. Then I gestured for them to slowly come our way. At first, she shook her head no, but a gust of wind sent the smell her directions. She froze and turned pale.

Slowly, she and Tony made their way to us. Like we were going to do one last hug and a silhouette of a wolf appeared. It was a big brown and black wolf. It snarled at us and showed a lot of teeth. I put Aunt Gem behind me, and Julie took Uncle Tony. My mother whispered for them to get in the car.

The guards slowly started to surround the car. This wolf I couldn’t tell if it was intentional that it was here or if it was looking for a fight. Just then a car pulled up. Three people got out: a female and 2 males. The female looked at the wolf and hid behind the male that got out of the passenger side. The driver looked our direction and to the wolf.

The wolf stopped in its tracks and looked at us one last time, howled and then turned around and took off. The guards were about to go after this wolf, but aunt Gem said something.

“Don’t. He is not a rouge. He has been coming here for the past 3 months looking for food but not shelter.” She spoke.

“Who is it?” I asked her.

“We don’t know. We just keep feeding them and they leave the restaurant alone. The first time they came there were about 10 of them. After a while they slowly went down by numbers and eventually only one comes.” Tony said.

“Mother, are you in there? Are you ok?” Said one of the three people.

“I am ok. I don’t think he will be coming back for food.” Aunt Gem mentioned.

“Why is that?” I asked

“I am sure there are a few of them. We don’t know where they are located. We have gone to see if we could find them, but we just can’t.” Said my aunt.

I wonder what is going on. Where did the wolves come from? Where are they hiding.
