I don't know wether to be angry or impressed. But one things for sure I have this gut feeling that Donny is up to something. Sano came to see me today, I am no longer allowing myself to fantasize about him, I need to focus on my fights and on my mission.
I sneaked past Sano to finish my afternoon exercises.
"Little bird little bird now just where on earth do you think your going? I've come all this way to see just how ready you are and this is how you repay me? By walking away?"
He keeps following me and frankly I am still quite mad about the stunt he pulled last time he came to see me.
"My name isn't little bird it's Kearra, get it right."
I began my run, starting out at an easy pace. One where he could easily keep up.
"What is it that you want exactly? Can't you see I'm busy here!?"
My tone, quick and sharp like a blade, obviously cut him somewhat deep. I sped up my pace but Sano matched it easily. The more he matched my pace the faster I ran till finally, we arrived at the fences. I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to look at him. He was out of breath, gasping for air. I didn't realize that he would go that far just to talk to me. I ran my fingers through my hair, as I watched him bend over with his head between his legs before he collapsed onto the ground.
"Why is it that you aren't even tired after that run?"
I am sort of amused by his weak stature. I began telling him my daily routine, midway through he couldn't pick his jaw up off the ground.
" Well I guess this proves what I came here to find out. You are indeed ready for the fight, that's good I really didn't want to have to punish you like I do to my father's useless triumphs."
He stood, his legs still unsteady.
"Your father?"
He looked down at me, his eyes as if devouring my soul, told me everything I had already suspected.
" Yes, Barron Kalhad. I'm sure you've heard of him. Owner of the almighty Skull Crusher, the one and only living conqueror that has been completely undefeated for the last nine years now."
"Is it possible for me to fight him?"
His laugh rang through my ears.
"Only if you have a true death wish, but on a serious note the answer is yes, only if you can get to the finals of this years fight extravaganza."
We walked back to the motel. And to my surprise Donny was waiting for me. Flowers in hand and this blue shirt that clung to every muscle on his body.
He looked at Sano as he gave me the flowers.
"They're beautiful, thank you."
Sano's expression was very amusing. His Face said it all, he was jealous.
" Oh pardon my manners, Donny this is my employer Sano Sagita."
They shook hands.
"Donny, Kearra has literally never talked about you before, tell me just what exactly is your relationship with her?"
Sano's tone of voice sounded agitated.
"I honestly don't see why she would tell you anything about her boyfriend when all you are is her employer."
To be completely honest I never once said he was my boyfriend and I'm pretty sure Sano is going to make me pay for this later.
I cleared my throat and grabbed Donny's hand.
"Well Sano this was a lovely visit, truly it was, but all good things must come to an end I'm afraid. I will see you when we return to work in 3 days until then please have a safe trip home and a wonderful day."
Sano handed me a file, the look on his face hurt me, it was like nothing I've ever felt before. As if my heart was being stabbed repeatedly and I was defenseless to stop it.
"Make sure you read up on your next assignment. There's a lot of information that needs to be gone through."
I nodded the pain in my chest extended to my stomach making me feel sick. I released Donny's hand, but I couldn't pry myself away from staring at Sano as he departed.
"Kearra!"
My attention snapped back to Donny. His hands like ice upon my shoulders.
"I'm sorry Donny what is it?"
He felt my face out of fear that perhaps I was ill.
"You've been staring off into space for a couple of minutes now, are you feeling alright?"
His concern is very admirable. I don't understand what is wrong with me. Everytime I see Sano it's as if I've lost my focus. I shook my head, held onto his hand, looked into his sweet loving eyes with a smile that could charm a snake.
"I'm perfect."
We went up to my room, Donny whistles as if to say the room isn't a total dump.
"First date and you've already invited me into your bedroom. My, my Kearra are you expecting something more to happen then us just hanging out?"
My laugh must've been heard all the way downstairs. I just couldn't stop.
"So you do laugh!"
Now gasping for air and wiping tears from my eyes. I pulled myself back together.
"okay, just for that we will be going to dinner tonight instead of tomorrow."
A smile spread across his face from ear to ear.
" Whoa now there's no need to be rash."
I pushed him to the door.
"You good sir will be waiting out here for but a moment while I change into something more endearing."
Lucky for me I had already chosen my dress for the evening, a beautiful emerald draped silk gown, tight fitting beautiful lace sleeves that extend past my fingers. It is by far my most favorite dress that I own. I decided to put my hair up half way and to the side that way it's still elegant enough for dinner but also not in my face. I opened my door, Donny waiting for me patiently off to the left side of the door's frame.
Well how do I look?"
His face in complete awe. Then slowly moved back to a gentle smile.
"You are more stunning then the most beautiful kingdom in all the land."
We departed for a most fancy restaurant just near the edge of Sidotis where our evening will finally be made into a memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
