The air between us felt thick, electric, humming like the moment before a storm breaks.
I took the final steps across the rug on shaky legs, every inch of me buzzing with the knowledge that he was watching, really watching, the way his shirt shifted on my thighs, the way my bare feet sank into the plush carpet, the way I couldn't quite hide the tremble in my knees.
