Chapter 10

1183 Words
It was a gloomy day outside and the atmosphere was always been like that for a few years now since Queen Elisa sat down on her throne. Although, there are a lot of positive changes in the economy that people loved when she ruled the world. Queen Elisa was highly appreciated by the people who are wealthy. Basically, this world really is for the wealthy and people who are gifted with intelligence or people who are naturally born with a wealthy family. They clearly know that they won’t be able to hide her for a long time. While Lyn was looking at her reflection in the window, she saw the gloomy weather outside. It was her first time to see the outside. Apparently, they are in a modern castle where it seems like they are living in a fantasy world. A modern castle that basically looks like an old-fashioned castle on the outside but the interior has a minimalist style. “Phew, that was close,” said Benji sarcastically to Enjo so he could make the atmosphere less awkward while they were walking down the aisle. “You could’ve messed up the whole plan,” replied Enjo seriously to him. Enjo started to walk faster than them because they would possibly meet their mother along the way so Lyn and Benji also walked faster to catch up with Enjo. He really is serious about everything and he always does his best so he won’t be a disappointment to her mother since his mother was rooting for him. Enjo has a name and reputation that should be taken care of so it was really a big deal for him if her mother knew that they were with a brown-haired girl. Discrimination is real in their world and it won’t be avoided. No one knows who started it but everyone seems like they wouldn’t live without discriminating against a person. Dark-haired people and unwealthy people are easily discriminated against in this world which would be really hard for Lyn to live. Some people are still clueless about why they are discriminated but some people knew that they were discriminated against because of what their ancestors did. “Where are we heading?” asked Benji while he was still walking faster to catch up. Enjo didn’t answer him, instead, he walked even faster. Even though Benji and Lyn don’t know where they are heading, they still decided to walk and catch up with Enjo. They just know that they should follow him wherever he goes since Enjo might need them with his plan. Benji stood still in front of Enjo’s room, not planning to cross the boundary, as Enjo held and turned the doorknob of his room so he could open it. Lyn was clueless but she also stood still beside Benji. She knew that they were siblings but she doesn’t know why there are boundaries and his own brother, Benji must not enter his room. They waited outside the room even though it was a bit awkward to stand and wait there. His door was widely opened so they could see what Enjo was doing. He was looking for something below his bed and above those tall cabinets. Benji’s eyebrows were furrowed since he was clueless about what Enjo is trying to find. “What is it you want?” asked Benji again to him but Enjo didn’t even bother to answer his brother since he was busy finding something. After a few minutes of them waiting outside of his room, Benji heard a footstep that echoed through the hallway but it was too late. Even though it was too late, he pushed Lyn inside his brother’s room so he could cover her up. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do next so he looked suspicious. Benji was praying that it was not their mom but when the footstep became close, he tried to act normal. The person turned in direction and they met Benji waiting outside Enjo’s room. It was pretty normal to see Benji always waiting outside of his room. As Benji accidentally looked at their eyes, he immediately looked down like he was bowing to pay respect. He still tried to act less suspiciously. His liability is one of Enjo’s strengths which is to lie without getting caught. He can’t lie since he couldn’t prevent his actions. “I think I heard something,” said Elisa as she looked down at him. “Oh, it was just…” he started while looking everywhere to find answers. “He was a little mad at me for some reason?” replied Benji uncertain. While Benji was still looking down, he heard the footstep getting away from him. He was surprised that Elisa didn’t find him suspicious. It seems like his reason was valid and the way he said it looks true since he was nervous that Elisa would get mad at him too because they had a problem. This was his first time to lie without getting caught. He was proud of himself. Benji looked at Elisa walking away from him down the aisle. The sound of Elisa’s glass shoes was still echoing through the hallway. It could be heard by someone who is outside of the modern castle. As it faded away, Benji looked through the keyhole if Lyn was alright. He didn’t mean to push her hard. Before he closed the door, he saw that he hardly pushed her inside of his brother’s room. He even saw her fell on the ground so he was worried and guilty. “Lyn?” called Benji while trying to look through the keyhole but he couldn’t see anything. It was pitch black. He tried to reach out for the doorknob but he remembered what Elisa said to her. He shouldn’t go inside Enjo’s room and he shouldn’t cross the boundary. Benji was really curious about it until now so he decided to disobey her for one time to know what would happen if he crosses the boundary. He thought that Elisa would never know anyway and she won’t come here again so he decided to reach out for the doorknob and turned it. The doorknob was really cold and it feels odd for him to hold it because it was his first time to cross the boundary. All of his life, he tried his best to obey Elisa but even though he already did his very best, Benji always disappoints her. She was always mad and not in a mood when she sees him. This time, he really is curious since nothing happened when someone crossed the line. “I’m ready to face the consequences after,” he whispered to himself as he pushed the heavy door. He was shocked when he saw a strong wind forcing him to go near the black thing. The pitch-black that he saw early was this floating ball that looks like a black hole. He couldn’t see his brother and Lyn inside of this room so he was really clueless and he don’t know what to do.
