Chapter 2 — First Encounter
The elevator dinged, and Amara’s stomach did somersaults. The penthouse was even more luxurious than she imagined ‘marble floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a view of Lagos that stole her breath.
Then she saw him. Noah Ramsey. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, tall, impeccably dressed, eyes cold and calculating. Every story she had heard about him ruthless, unyielding, impossible was true. And yet, he was… magnetic.
“Amara,” he said, voice low, smooth, commanding. “Welcome to your new life.”
Her heart pounded. She forced a smile. “Thank you… sir.”
He tilted his head, studying her like a predator sizing up prey. “You look… nervous. Excited?”
Amara swallowed. “A little of both.”
He stepped closer, close enough for her to feel the heat radiating off him. Her pulse spiked. Something about his presence made her forget her carefully maintained composure.
“I assume you understand the rules,” Noah murmured. “No emotions, no attachments. You do as the contract states.”
“Yes,” she whispered.
“And yet…” His lips curved slightly. “I can’t guarantee we won’t test those rules.”
Amara’s breath hitched. A warning bell rang in her mind. He was dangerous. Tempting. And utterly irresistible.
The night ahead promised a collision of desire, tension, and secrets. And Amara couldn’t help but wonder… if surviving it meant surrendering to him entirely.
