40The summer “blockbuster” issue of Bookology stumbled to completion. It had been printed and distributed to bookstores across the country and select newsstands. I felt relieved to get it over with but then came the sinking feeling upon the realization that it would begin all over again. Some days, I felt as if each new issue was standing at ground zero and we had to claw our way up through the muck to get to fresh air. Most people never realize how primeval publishing really is. And depressing too. You felt like you weren't getting anywhere, not unlike walking the treadmill endlessly. Still, that remained the glamour of publishing.
