33I sat at my desk Monday morning. The time read eight-thirty as I tried to work on one of the books I had in progress when Ruth walked in. “Good morning. What brings you here so early?” She growled at me, then set about getting herself organized, pulling her arms out of her raincoat, setting her bag down, rummaging through it for something she needed, glaring at the pile of papers on her desk, among other things. “Okay. I'll leave you alone now.” And went back to my work.
