Chapter 23Sorenthor leans back in his tanned leather chair and looks up at the sky above through the glass ceiling at the top floor of his library, the tome beside him finally closed after continuous days of studying and interpreting. He waves his arm in a small arc in front of his face and the ceiling turns from glass to the image of the mouth of a cave surrounded by birds of every color of the rainbow. Although snow covers the terrain, it doesn't seem to bother the birds in the image. Sorenthor studies the image and then closes his eyes and burns the image into his mind. Sitting up he reaches down with his right hand to grab the book as the ceiling returns to its glass state. With book in hand he heads toward the spiral staircase leading to the thirteen floors below.
