Chapter 11Talon sits alone in the study of the guild house, pondering his latest challenges: How to assist the high priestess by escorting three strangers north and how to best kill Katrivus for the guild. While enjoying a morning smoke, the young rogue signals to the guard at the door. The guard comes to attention. “Find me Ashley and Thorn. Now,” Talon barks, and the guard retreats out the door.
Since Talon is working on orders from the board, his requests are tantamount to orders themselves. Ashley and Thorn look like they may have to be reminded of that fact. They storm in looking unhappy to be interrupted this morning.
“What is the meaning of this Talon?” asks Ashley with a slightly raised voice. “I was teaching a class when I received your rather abrupt summons.”
