Chapter 22Ashcon and Skken are sipping on warm cider in front of the fire in the Black Pearl Tavern when Talon and Katrivus stroll in and take a seat opposite them. They acknowledge each other with nods when Talon says, “We leave on the morrow and have yet to discuss the fee.”
Ashcon leans forward and places his mug atop the table before replying, “In addition to other things.” This causes both Talon and Katrivus to cringe and Ashcon continues. “First off, we need to know our exact destination before we depart. Second, once we are off to sea, we want a copy of the map with assurances that we will only open it if you become incapacitated. Third, discretion is of the utmost importance to us. I'd like to know what safeguards you have taken to insure discretion.”
