I texted Harvin to fetch me up. I don’t wanna drive so I asked him to pick me up instead. I’ll just ask him to bring me home.
I chose a short purple velvet spaghetti strapped dress and paired it with black stilettos. My make-up is flawless, with my hair in a tight ponytail, highlighting my high cheekbones and jaw.
Pursing my lips, I checked myself in front of the mirror before heading out of my room.
I already received a text message from Harvin, saying that he’s already outside, waiting.
“Oh..” I took a step back when I saw Gregory heading out of his unit. “You’re going somewhere?”
He’s wearing a white dress shirt, with the first two buttons undone and hair slightly slicked backwards. He looks so formal with his black slacks and a pair of leather shoes.
“I’m meeting Elena at Manila Pen..”
“Oh, I thought she’s busy?” I raised a brow. “And… you made up?”
I was a little disappointed because… they already made up! I just planned on making cookies with him!
“What about the cookie we’re going to make?” I pouted. He must’ve noticed the sullenness in my voice so he raised his eyebrows. I pursed my lips and smiled. “Anyways, enjoy your date with your fiancé!”
I waved my fingers at him and grinned.
Enjoy your date with my sister because this will be the last time you’re going to have a dinner date with her.
Because next time, it’s going to be me. I might even be your dinner.
I entered the elevator first. I didn’t press the close button because I knew Gregory was going to enter. I just noticed that we often take the elevator together. When I leave, sometimes he comes home. When I go home, he’s off somewhere.
Well, I hope our elevator escapades will be… different.
“You’re leaving..” he pointed out. “You have a date tonight?”
It was new because it’s him who started the conversation.
When I did not answer, he glanced at me.
“Going out for a drink. And no, I’m not on a date. If you’re free, then why not come with me?” I teased. He raised his brows which made me giggle. “Kidding. I know you’re seeing my sister.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and faced him. We are next to each other, so the height difference between the two of us is even more defined. I was wearing my stilettos so my eye level reached his nose now. I am tall but he is way taller. On normal days, when I’m not wearing any heels, my vision level is just on his neck.
“She’s going to spend the night in your unit, then? Or… you’re going to her place?”
I know my sister owns a condo unit somewhere in Makati.
“I’ll stay in her unit tonight.”
“Oh..”
“Why?” His forehead creased so bad.
“Oh, I just thought I’m going to see her later. I was thinking about having a few drinks with her. Well, I guess, send my regards. We haven’t talked that much during my Grandma’s birthday.”
We reached the ground floor. I went out first and he followed me.
“You’re not bringing your car with you?” Gregory asked when he noticed that I was heading to the entrance, not in the basement parking.
“No, Harvin is going to pick me up.”
“Okay.”
“Bye! Enjoy your date!”
I didn’t look back and went straight to the entrance. I found Harvin right away. He was leaning on the hood of his car while waiting for me. He was wearing a simple white dress shirt and dark slacks. Just like Gregory, his hair was also slicked backwards and two buttons of his dress shirt were undone.
But why does Greg look so much hotter? Even in a white t-shirt and black shorts, he is already very, very handsome
Harvin is handsome, too. Out of all the flings I’ve had, he’s one of the most handsome. But then, I just realized how plain and dull those guys were the moment I laid my eyes on my sister’s fiancé.
I don’t know, maybe I just want the thrill, like Jeffrey said.
“Looking gorgeous as ever, Aki.” He pulled me closer to his body and gave my cheek a quick kiss.
I only held onto his shoulder for support and watched the familiar gray Aston Martin that just passed by. I didn’t let go of Harvin until Gregory’s car was out of my sight.
I don’t know why but I feel like he’s staring at me through the side mirror.
I was shaking my head when I got into the shotgun seat. Jeffrey texted me and said that he’s not going to mix drinks tonight. Like he should. Maybe Harvin and I will run out of things to talk about later.
“I was surprised when you called me earlier. I thought you forgot about me.”
“What are you talking about? We saw each other last month..”
“Well, knowing you..” he paused and glanced at my side.
“We are more than just flings, Harvin. We had a three-month relationship, yes. And you know how quickly I lose interest in a man, especially if he doesn’t know how to kiss!!”
“So, you’re telling me that I’m a good kisser?”
We both chuckled.
The trip was quick because there was no traffic. I checked my face on my handy mirror before hopping outside. Harvin opened the door for me and I held his arm as we entered the bar.
The night is still young but the people inside were already wild. Some were jumping while shouting. Some were dancing while others were busy on their couches, making out.
Damn, everyone’s already getting wild while we just arrive!
“What took you so long? I’m almost drunk...” Jeff rolled his eyes as he kiss my cheek. He then pinched my waist playfully when he eyed Harvin by my side, as I hold his arm. “What a flirt. I thought you were only for Gre—”
“The f*ck are you talking about, Jeff?” I hissed. “He’s just a gentleman..”
“Duh! The Flirty Akira Paige Ramirez doesn’t like skin ships, for all I know!”
“People change, b*tch..”
We went to our couch where Jeff was sitting earlier. Harvin settled himself there and the moment I sat beside him, he immediately put his hands against the back rest of the couch where I was sitting, now it looks like I am resting against his arm…
“So, your sister, together with Gregory, is at Manila Pen right now, huh..”
“How did you know?” I sipped on my drink and watched Jeff scroll through his phone.
“Your sister posted a photo.” He showed me his screen. She took a picture of their food while Gregory was drinking his wine.
I rolled my eyes. “Oh?”
“Looks like she’s about to devour him tonight.”
I scoffed. “Whatever.”
I gulped my drink in one shot and looked away. Harvin pinched my arm slightly so I glanced at him.
“For someone who looked pissed, you’re still very pretty, huh.”
“I’m not just pretty, Harvin.”
“Right.” He leaned and smelled my neck. I heard a shutter and realized that Jeff took a photo of us.
“Will post it, too . What should I put as a caption?”
“Smells like dinner,” I simply said.
“Nice…” Jeff noted.
I heard Harvin chuckle. His arm moved slowly to my waiting and I just let it there. He used his free hand to pour me another drink.
So, Gregory will spend the night with Elena. They are having a dinner date right now at Manila Pen, drinking their wine while talking about their marriage, most probably.
The thought of them reconciling irritates me the most. I don’t know why.
“The night is still young, Aki. Chill.”
“I’m sorry, I was just… thinking about something.”
“Care to share?”
I shook my friend. “We are heading to Palawan tomorrow. My mother wanted to meet you.”
“Meet the parents already, Akira? Wow! That’s new."
“But I’ll introduce you as a friend.”
“Friend,” he repeated. “Not even as an ex-boyfriend. You’re joking, right?”
“No.”
“Damn, sure. Friend.”
“Or maybe a… suitor?”
“Do you accept suitors now? And introduce me to your parents? Dang. It’s an honor, Akira.”
“I said, I’ll just introduce you. It’s not the real thing.”
“So, you’re just using me?” he whispered against my ear. The noise on the dance floor got even louder because of the loud music on the stereo. “Then use me anytime you want, babe. I won’t mind.”
“Oops, Elena reacted on my post, Akira!” Jeffrey screamed and showed me his phone screen along with the notification that my sister had indeed reacted.
Just a few seconds later, a notification appeared again and it was a comment from her.
I used my lips to point it to Jeff and he immediately read it before showing it to me again.
Elena Nicole Ramirez: So, it’s Harvin! I was right...
Elena Nicole Ramirez: Enjoy your dinner, Akira! And I’ll enjoy mine, too.
The most recent comment from my sister came with a kiss emoji.
I rolled my eyes again and took another shot.
How much did I drink already? I lost count.
“Oh, she uploaded another one..” Jeffrey was so focused on his phone while I tried so hard not to mind him.
I was letting Harvin play with my fingers as I continue drinking on my glass of Cuervo. I gave Jeff a side eye when I noticed him raising his brow.
“What?” I hissed at him.
“Well... your sister uploaded a photo of her and Gregory kissing, with a caption.. tastes like dinner. Did you fight or something? You seem like you two are in a competition…”
“Silly. She’s just competitive when it comes to me.”
“Hmm. I see.”
But I think she’s really trying to press my b*tch button right now. My sister is great at teasing… or more like… annoying me. For her, it was just simple teasing like what she used to do. She always teases me that I don’t have a boyfriend to do things with, like whatever she and Gregory are doing.
But it is slowly seeping into my core right now.
She knows I’m single, but she told our mother that I’m dating Harvin. Now, she kept on posting pictures with Gregory.
Does she expect me to keep up with his cheapness and also post pictures of me and Harvin?
I shook my head.
I would let Jeffrey do the work.
I couldn’t help it. I stood up after finishing my shot. My vision is blurry but I can still walk towards the dance floor.
I knew that Harvin was following so I was satisfied that no one would do something to me. I raised my hand and moved my body along with the loud music. Harvin put his hand on my waist and danced too.
People were jumping and were slightly pushing each other. Harvin pulled my body when I was about to lose my balance because of my stilletos.
We stayed there for a few minutes until I got tired. My leg hurt so I pulled Harvin back to the couch.
Miraculously, Jeff is still focused on his phone. I was expecting him to look more drunk than me, but now he doesn’t seem to be.
I just ignored him and started drinking again. Harvin and I finished another bottle of Cuervo
.
“That’s enough. We have a flight tomorrow.” He got the glass from me and drank it.
He has a higher alcohol tolerance than me so he’s way more sober than I am.
“Just… let me drink my... last shot, Harv.”
“You’re drunk, babe. I’ll bring you home. It’s past midnight.”
“Oh? We just arrived..” I tried to get my glass from him but I ended up sitting on his lap. I leaned on his shoulder and closed my eyes. I feel like the world is spinning.
Damn, I had it hard tonight.
“She’s so drunk, Harvin. You should bring her home. Oh, wait, let me take a picture of you two.”
The voices were all muffled. I can’t comprehend what Jeff was saying.
“We'll head off first then.” It was Harvin.
“Sure. Bring her to her own unit, not yours!”
“Don’t worry.”
I felt Harvin lifting me from the ground. I just held onto his shoulder and the next thing I knew was the soft seat of his car. I heard him revving his engine before driving slowly. He was driving so slow. I think he’s afraid I might throw up inside.
“Do you want to sober up?” he asked when he noticed that I fixed my sit.
“No, it’s okay. I wanted to sleep already.”
“You can sleep. I’ll just carry you to your unit.”
I chuckled. “Like you know my passcode.”
“Then tell me. I’ll leave afterwards.”
“No, it’s okay. I can walk on my own. I’m fine here, you can drop me here.”
He was about to go to the basement parking lot but I insisted on being dropped by the entrance.
“Are you sure? I can just bring you to your unit, Aki.” He was about to go out of his car when I held his arm.
“I’m fine, Harvin. It’s almost one in the morning. You also need to rest. We still have a flight tomorrow...”
It was so hard to convince him, but when he saw that I can manage myself and walked just fine, he didn’t argue
anymore. I turned to check on him and saw him driving away.
I stayed in the lobby but before I could sleep, I decided to stand up and go inside the elevator. It really feels like my world is spinning and I could see properly. I leaned against the wall of the elevator, closed my eyes after pressing what floor I’m getting to, and waited for the closing of the door but I smelled a manly and expensive perfume instead.
I opened my eyes and smirked when I saw Gregory.
“Hey!” I stood properly. “How’s your dinner date with Elena? Wait, I thought you were staying in her place tonight?”
“Something happened...” he simply answered.
“Really? So, did you enjoy your date?” I giggled. I was literally looking up to him because he’s tall but the light inside was making my eyes hurt. I squinted my eyes but it couldn’t be helped.
I noticed him glancing at me and shifting his weight afterwards. I’m glad he adjusted his position so he’s now towering over me, blocking the light from hitting my eyes.
I was about to move closer to his side but the elevator suddenly moved. I stumbled on my feet and was about to fall but he immediately caught me.
Damn. What’s with Gregory and elevators?
When it was stable again, I didn’t bother to move back to where I was standing earlier. I stilled my head against his chest and I slowly wrapped my arms on his waist.
He smells so good.
“Akira…” he called my name and tapped my arm gently.
“Hmm?”
“We’re here. You should head to your unit now.”
But instead of withdrawing from him, I tightened my hug on his waist and tried to lift my gaze. We’re still so close to each other so one wrong move, our lips will touch.
“I can’t walk properly…” I whispered. “Please carry me to my room.”
I didn’t hear a complaint anymore and I just felt myself being lifted off the floor. I smiled secretly and hugged him by his neck, buried my face there, and smelled his scent.
“You smell so nice. It’s addicting.”
The hem of my dress was slightly sliding up and Gregory immediately fixed it. Not even his palm, or even the tip of his finger, touched my skin.
He stopped and fixed his grip on my thigh. “Passcode.”
“101695..” I briefly answered.
The door of my unit rang as a sign that he had opened it.
He went inside and silently searched for my room. He slowly laid me down on the bed. I groaned when my back hit my soft and comfy bed.
I murmured my gratitude but I still did not let go of his neck. I kept hugging him so I could still smell his scent.
“Damn. Elena must be so lucky. Did she save the entire universe in her past life?” I whispered against his lips.
Gregory held my arm that was hugging his neck and tried to break their grip on each other
“You’re drunk, Akira..” his minty breath fan my face. He smells like a mixture of wine and mint, so I know he’s also drunk a bit, compared to me, I’m just right.
“Can I kiss you?” I whispered, slowly opening my eyes to stare at him. “Hmm?”
When he did not speak, I pulled him closer to me and pressed my soft lips against his. I felt his body stiffening from my move. Not satisfied with the brief touching of our lips, I pulled him more while I parted my lips, now ready for a deeper kiss.
When I licked his lower lip and moved it to kiss him more, he pushed me gently back to my bed.
“F*ck. You’re mighty drunk.”
I couldn’t remember what exactly happened after that. But after some time, I heard the sound of my bedroom door closing.
I closed my eyes and darkness invaded me fully.
