Chapter 2

“How was the preparation for your wedding, Elena?” Mommy asked. I was eating silently while listening at their conversation. As much as I never wanted to, I couldn’t help but listen because we’re all wearing at the same table. My sister answered her question and even gave her the detailed one. “How about you, Akira? Don’t tell me you’re still single? Or… how should I say it?” She looked up and tried to think of a proper word to describe my… relationship with guys. “Do you want me to pair you up with my friends son? I’m sure you know who I’m talking about. I cleared my throat. “He’s not my type.” Well, not anymore. She shook her head in disappointment. Even my grandmother was not really happy with my answer. After that little conversation about me, they all went back on talking about my sister’s wedding. There was no formal engagement party yet but I think they are planning to do it this month. Not really sure. I’m not interested. Today is my grandmother’s birthday. She wanted everyone to be here so we all gathered and even prepared a huge party but she wanted an intimate celebration with just us. We are also planning to spend the rest of the night here because some of my Uncle was residing far from here. “Why did you move your wedding date l? Three months? Really? That’s way too long.” My Uncle Peter ranted. “Gregory is still busy with their business, Uncle. We’re taking everything slowly. Three months will pass in a blink of an eye. And.. we also wanted to enjoy our relationship this way…” she chuckled. It’s amusing how innocent she always acts. There has never been a reason for a disagreement between Elena and I, despite Daddy’s constant comparisons between us. Or at least, for her. My father always expresses his disappointment in me. He never fails to say how disgraceful I have become and how Elena has been his favorite. I shook my head to brush off those thoughts while we’re eating. I forced my lips to stretch for a smile and gave it to my sweet yet low-key annoying sister. I scoffed. “What a pity. If I were you, I’d rush my wedding. You can’t find a decent guy these days. I’m sure your fiancé wanted to take things fast. You see, you’ve been together for almost… what?.. eight years? He might look for…” I shook my head and purposely did not continue what I’m trying to say. Liam laughed and teased me for being bitter because I’m still single. Iko even talked about my flings and they both agreed on pestering me up. Uncle Erik scolded them and good thing they both shut their mouths up. I am on my diet so I stopped eating, aside from that, I already lost my appetite. I wouldn’t have come here but I don’t want my grandma disappointed. “Where’s Akihiro? I thought he’s gonna come?” Uncle Peter intervened. Grandma glanced at me, waiting for an answer. “Dad has a dinner meeting with an investor, Uncle. He also mentioned that he will talk to Gregory about our engagement party.” It was Elena who answered. She even managed to stare at me and flash her sweet smile. I did not bother my lips from giving her a small smile, this time. I just don’t want to force myself from doing something I don’t really like. I excused myself when I felt my phone vibrate. The garden was a little dark and the only source of light is from the veranda. I went there and made sure that before answering the call, no one would hear me. I checked the screen and answered my friend’s call. “Jeff…” I greeted. “What took you so long so answer? Damn, this girl…” he ranted. “I was eating. So…” He cleared his throat first. “Well, make sure no one hears you. Don’t you ever think about putting your loudspeaker on.” I looked over my shoulder to check and even when there were none, I still walked a few steps away. “Spill.” “Here’s the tea. I was at the bar counter earlier and girl, Gregory suddenly showed up! He looked so drunk. I confirmed that myself because I walked right in front of him, but he didn’t see me. What’s shocking was, he’s with a girl!” He was almost whispering but I could hear him clearly, especially when he mentioned the guy’s name. “Who was the girl?” I asked, like it was the only thing I heard from all of the things he said. “I’m not sure but she seems familiar. I heard they’re going to meet at BGC tonight?” My brows furrowed. “How?” “The girl ordered another drink and since I wanted to fish information, I served their order myself so I heard her inviting him to meet later at eight.” “And? Did he agree to meet her?” “Surprisingly, yes…” My eyes widened. I immediately checked my phone screen to look for the time and it reads forty-five minutes after six. I won’t get there on time but I’m sure I will get to see them together if I drive fast. I looked down and checked my dress. “Hey, Akira! I will always support you with your silly decisions but please, he will get married in no time. Be careful, I’m warning you, huh. Don’t get mad at me for not telling you this, because I just did!” I smirked. “Don’t worry, Jeff. They’re not married yet.” I almost giggled. Let the game begin. I had trouble leaving because my grandma wouldn’t let me. She wanted me to stay because it’s her special day and she wanted to be with me. I also wanted to, but I needed to leave, it’s now or never! I even asked Jeff to help me with this. I thought about this for a hundred of times and I finally decided. This is my ace. I asked for Auntie Paula’s help since she’s the only person in this family who supports my escapades. The thing is, she did know who I was going to see tonight. I just told them I’m going to meet my boyfriend. “I’ll introduce him to you, Grandma, if he’s free. Promise!” I pleaded. I glanced at Elena and she’s just giggling with my nephews and nieces. My Grandma was against it but she couldn’t do anything when I am eager to leave. I waved my hand at her after kissing her cheeks. I started the engine and drove faster to my condo. When I parked my car in the basement, I did not even bother checking if I parked it properly. Jeffrey kept on calling me but I ignored it as I was busy rummaging my closet to look for a decent dress. Damn… I couldn’t find one! My type of dress is a far from Elena’s liking. As much as I wanted to catch Gregory’s attention with my own strategy, I don’t think he would be interested. Might as well endure being someone like my sister for tonight. Still, I tried looking for a dress that I would consider as decent. Good thing, there’s one because I swear, I would totally question every type of dress my sister wears. I was thinking if I’m going to take a quick shower. There’s no way that I will present myself like this. I, at least, needed to look fresher than ever. I wore a light pink short dress and paired it with white strappy sandals. I must act like a cute little damsel to him. I sighed. Is this fine? I think so. When I saw myself in the mirror, I winced. I looked way too cute! Not very satisfied, I slightly pulled down my dress to show a little bit of skin. The neckline is not that low, but if I bend forward, my cleavage will be seen. “Better…” Maybe he is not very conservative. I wore my favorite earring and even put perfume on my neck. I chuckled when I thought about making him kiss me on that same spot where I put it on. But then that would be too fast, I need to take it slow. “It’s not like, he’s going to lick your neck, Akira…” I received a text message from Jeffrey earlier. He sent the address of the said restaurant where Gregory and that girl would meet. I was shaking my head while going back to my car. The nerve of him to meet someone while he’s engaged with my sister! I handed the valley my key fob and went inside the restaurant, smirking. The waitress asked if I was with someone and accommodated me to a comfortable seat. I looked around the entire restaurant and apart from the lovers inside, I didn’t see Gregory. I spent ten minutes waiting for the two and when no one came, I texted Jeffrey asking if they would still meet here. He didn’t reply for over fifteen minutes, and when he did, he said that the two were still there. I stormed out of the restaurant and went straight to my car. Good thing Jeff’s club is not too far from here. The engine roared to life and in ten minutes, I arrived. “You should’ve texted me!” I shouted at Jeff, even though my voice got drowned by the loud music from the stereo, I’m he would still hear me. “Is he still here?” I settled myself on the high chair and smiled at the bartender who made a drink for me. “Jeffrey!” “Akira, I’m busy!” he shouted back. “Don’t use that voice on me again. This girl...” I wanted to stop him from mixing some drink but I couldn’t do anything about it when another customer came. He was about to turn to me but he still needed to entertain them. I slowly calmed myself down by heaving a deep breath. A pain in my leg made it impossible for me to continue searching the entire bar for Greg. I caressed the red mark caused by the thin straps. If only I had known it would make a mark, I wouldn’t have worn it. Jeff rolled his eyes at me. “I’m sure he already left. Maybe he’s still with that girl. Who knows? I haven’t seen them since earlier.” He quickly talked to one of his bartender is before turning to continue what he was saying. “Don’t be so desperate. There’s still next time.” I only spent fifteen minutes on his bar to cool down. My effort to dress cutely was put to waste. I wanted to stay longer because I don’t want to leave just yet and the atmosphere of the club looks good, but because of the tiredness, I have to leave. A lot of things happened today. After my flight earlier, I went straight to my grandma’s rest house to celebrate her eightieth birthday. Working as a Flight Attendant gives me a headache but I will fight for it. I even have to fight my father for this as he was very against it. He wants me to enroll in Business Administration but I really wanted to become a Flight Attendant. I was planning to sleep and spend two more days there but since Jeffrey called and told me that Greg was here, there, I rushed but got nothing. I lay down on the bed because of exhaustion. I would love to take a shower before resting but I’m too lazy to even get up. I wanted to sleep so bad but I still need to take my make up off so I was forced to get myself out of bed. My shower did not even take ten minutes. I am so sleepy that I almost closed my eyes while pulling the short shorts and white oversized shirt from my closet. I jumped on the bed and didn’t waste another minute. I fell into full-fledged sleep… and I was so sure I would continue sleeping until I heard a loud banging against the wall. I opened my immediately, thinking that there’s an earthquake. The first thing that registered in my mind was to get up and leave my room. I looked around, panicking. My things were not moving. My brows furrowed in confusion. “What the…” Was I dreaming? Damn. I might be too tired to— My thoughts were cut off when I heard a loud moan from a girl. My eyes widened. Where did that come from? I roamed my eyes around my unit, thinking that I heard it wrong, but I heard another moan from somewhere followed by a loud crash from the other side of the wall where my bed was! “Yes, ohh.. like that..” I gritted my teeth. She moans like a sl*t! When I looked up, my jaw dropped as I noticed the movement of the large painting hanging above my head. I stood up and watched how the wall moved. I could feel my cheeks burning. Damn! I couldn’t even process what was happening on the other side of this wall! I checked the time and the clock reads two in the morning! Beads of sweat formed on my forehead. “F*cking—At least moan silently if you couldn’t handle it anymore!” I hissed. I stormed out of my room and combed my hair harshly. The loud stomping of my feet is not enough for them to realize that they disturbed someone’s precious sleep! I’m getting the hang of it! I haven’t slept properly for days! I was so tired and exhausted! And now, a f*cking moan from somewhere interrupts me? I never had that kind of peaceful sleep for months. I was in the middle of enjoying that rare moment… only to be disturbed by someone moaning so loudly! I stomped my feet harshly that my little toe hit the bottom corner of the center table. I bit my lip while cursing silently. The moaning from somewhere temporarily stopped but I could not afford to lay down later hoping that they already reached it only to be disturbed by another round. I could feel my entire body shaking from anger when I went out. The sound was only coming from the nearby unit so I stood at the door next to mine. I made sure that was where it was coming from before I raised my hand for a quick and violent knock. If they can’t sleep and can’t wait to do it, I would appreciate it if they’ll go somewhere and f*ck or at least slow down the moaning a bit! I never stopped rummaging into the door until someone harshly opened it. I was ready to yell at the person who opened the door, but my flaming yell backed off when I recognized who the man was in front of me. I was greeted by Gregory, wearing his white long sleeve folded till his arms, a sleek black silky slacks, and a brown formal shoes. I bet he went straight here after his date? “Stop banging against the wall! You were moaning so loud I couldn’t sleep!” I shouted in front of him even though I wasn’t sure if he was really the one who did it.
