Ace POV
It has been thirty minutes since I got here waiting for a sign of anything that Hubert has probably set up as our form of communication, one thing certain about my boss is that he will never meet any of us personally unless it is at the headquarters.
40 minutes…..
45 minutes…..
My patience is running extremely low, could I have misinterpreted the code? but the funny thing is, I am sure there must be something about this place because it is too quiet for a golf club on a Sunday.
Right amid my thoughts I hear footsteps from a distance, as I turn around I spot a tall well built muscular man in some golf outfits which kinda looks a little funny cause I’m used to seeing old men with big bellies in such outfits if you ask me he actually looks hideous.
He is now smiling my way, I turn around to see if there is someone behind me that he probably is smiling at but nope he is now smiling at me.
“ I’m glad you made it, we were almost worried you won’t make it on time for your next mission”
make it on time? wait, did he just say next mission? Hubert actually sent this guy?
“ Mr. Thompson, or should I call you Ace?” he interrupted my thoughts with a smirk as if reading my mind, “I could have invited you to play golf with me but there is no time to waste, this call is for you” he seriously said while handing me his phone.
As soon as I put the phone near my ear I could hear Hubert scolding someone for God knows why…” Hello?” I said hoping to snag his attention.
“ Alaric! nice to hear from you, it has been a while son” sounding excited.
Well you heard right, Alaric is my real name and Ace Thompson is just my undercover name while I am in Manassas.
Mr. Hubert has always been a father figure my entire life that he even inspired me to become a secret agent in their agency, while on the other hand my father just sent me toys on my birthdays and the last one was on my seventeen birthday when I told him to shove it up to his throat if he thinks it will make things right.
“ It has been a minute Mr. Hubert, missing me already ?” I said with a little sarcasm knowing he has a job for me and he didn’t call because of the bond we have.
“ Well I do, but there’s a package in your trunk that you should take care of soon as possible, “ he said sounding dead serious.
“ You are way too sneaky, how long is this one?” I got a little curious because two years ago I never thought I would be stuck in this town, I completed my mission a year and a half later, then I immediately proposed to Rosa.
“ you can determine that from the package, nice hearing from you Alaric…, gotta go, my coffee is getting cold” and with that, he hung up.
Not wasting time, I bid the hideous guy and hand him his phone. I immediately headed for my car. As I open the trunk I found a briefcase, Hubert loves playing Mr mysterious sometimes.
I got in the driver's seat and impatiently open the briefcase, I found a plane ticket, passports, and some documents related to the case. It seems I will not be changing my identity this time around because my passport still has Ace Thompson as my name, and I will still be disguised as an assistant manager?… damn!
As I take a look at the case file, it seems to involve some mafia families in Mexico. The Garcia and the Álverez, but one of the family was eliminated years ago.
I should investigate the secret mafia business of the Garcia and their past crimes related to their rivals…..well this might be fun tracing these people, I guess that is why Nick said it might be dangerous.
Just as I keep going through the documents something slips down and I hurriedly pick it up just to find a family photo.
It snatches my attention as I see a seemingly familiar face of the woman who seems to be the wife of the man beside her, and who seems to be her youngest daughter looking much like her.
I turn the picture just to find their names written; Alejandro Álvarez, Luisa Álvarez, Anna Álvarez and Lorena Álvarez. It was a beautiful family too bad they had to die.
My flight is in two hours and it seems my occupation is already arranged in a luxurious mall in Mérida, no time to waste Mexico here i come.
