Chapter 15 Four's POV

1077 Words
I walk into the lunch room and walk toward my normal table, but something is off. I look around. More people? There are two more boys and one more girl. One sits very close to Tris. The other boy is on the other side of him, and the girl is next to that boy. I walk over sitting next to Uriah and Zeke. "Hi?" I awkwardly say. I then realize who is next to Tris. Caleb. For some reason I feel relief, but also angry. "Hello Four" Caleb says, in his mature accenty-thing that's super annoying. "Oh, Four, you weren't here when I explained why Caleb is here. This morning we decided to settle the war, and for the last year of high school, Caleb would be the brother I never had." Tris explains. Caleb glared at me the whole. "It's BIG Brother to you, I was born first. And you've always had a big brother, I just wasn't nice. Also I didn't protect you as I should've" Caleb says spitting the word 'protect' right at me as if it were a weapon. "Protect? From what? I'm like the toughest girl in this school!" Tris complains. "Not when you're against the toughest boy in school" Caleb argues. "Hey! I would never do anything to her." I protest. The sentence sends chills through me because I know I will have to do something to her at prom. Not physically at least. But that makes it worse doesn't it? "I was simply giving an example, Four, how about you talk to your i***t friends and leave us to our conversation." Caleb says. I curl my hands into fists, closing them so hard my knuckles get white. "Hey! We're not idiots! I got an F on my test today!" Uriah argues. "Ya an F stands for Fantabulous, what did you get?" Zeke asks. "A+" Caleb states. "Pfft, that's NOTHING!" Zeke says, laughing. "Stop making fun of them! They're my friends! If you are going to be a brother you have to be nice to my friends." Tris yells. "Friends! PLEASE! Remember that conversation we had about them the other night?" Caleb says. I can't help but be curious as to what they were talking about. "What conversation?" I ask. "The one where we said you couldn't be-" Caleb starts. Tris covers his mouth with her hand. Caleb begins tugging on her arm but she is too strong. "DUDE JUST BITE HER!" Uriah chants. "Am Gem erms aww oer my tomgue?" He mumbles. "huh?" We all say. "Translation: And get germs all over my tongue?" Tris says, mimicking Caleb in an annoying high-pitched voice. "You sound just like him!" Zeke says. Tris uncovers Caleb's mouth. He gasps for air, then sighs. "The-one-where-you-said-you-couldn't-be-a-friend-it-had-to-be-revenge-or-a-crush" Caleb says extremely fast. "CALEB!" Tris yells. "Calm down, I could barely hear what he said." I tell Tris. To make her more comfortable I change the subject. "So who are your friends Caleb?" I ask. "This is William and Cara" Caleb says. "Will" William says. "Oh I've heard of you guys, your names are always near the 00s at the top of the test-score board." Uriah says. "Oh ya the EXTRA failures who get two zeros." Zeke says. They begin laughing. "Actually we are at the top because we get a 100 stupid!" Cara says. "No, it's double 00. The letter "I" isn't a number!" Zeke explains and they laugh again. I put my head in my hands. "That explains your math scores." Will says. "Enough! Not all of us are smart, but that's ok. When you’re friends you don't care about that stuff." Tris says. "So I was wondering if you guys wanted to go to my party? Tomorrow night." Zeke says. "Sure" We all agree, well our group agrees. The smarties look like they're calculating a problem. "Can't, have a test in 30 weeks. Don't wanna lose any brain cells from the alcohol" Will says. "Oh come-on it'll be fun!" Christina says in a flirty voice. "O-okay" Will says blushing. "If he's coming I will." Cara says. "I have to come with Tris or she can't go." Caleb states. "WHY!" Tris whines. "You wanted a better brother, I'm being a better brother. And if you haven't noticed, I don't particularly like them." Caleb says pointing to me, Zeke, and Uriah. "WE ALL NOTICED!" Everyone says. "But they aren't bad! You can't just hate someone because they're boys, or sporty." Tris complains. "That's exactly why I hate them. They are probably people who 'hook-up', and I do NOT want you losing your virginity to one of those beasts." Caleb says. "CALEB! They do not 'hook-up’ and even if they did, I would never lose my virginity to them." Tris says. "No offense" She adds before storming out. There's silence. "She's still a virgin!" Zeke says spitting his water. "Ya, she almost lost 'it'" Caleb says. "STORY TIME!" Uriah yells. "Guys stop!" I yell. Everyone stares at me. "This is invading her privacy. I can not sit here and listen to this." I say. I get up grabbing Caleb's arm. "Ohhhhh! Where are you taking me" He complains. "To go be a good brother" I say dropping him outside the door of the cafeteria. Tris sits in the hallway, her head in her arms. "Are you crying?" Caleb asks. I punch his arm. "I mean, are you ok?" Caleb corrects himself. "When I wanted you to be a brother I didn't mean to hate all my friends and tell them my secrets!" Tris says. "That's what brothers do, I even did research to prove it, would you like an essay or presentation?" Caleb asks. Tris giggles. "You did research? When did you have time to do that?" Tris asks. "I have like 5 study halls because I don't need extra help in everything and I already know everything in a lot of the classes anyways." Caleb says. She lifts her head. Tris' face is stained with tears. It hurts to see her like this, she never cries. Her eyes widen when she sees me, and she puts her head back down. "You heard what he said, didn't you" Tris mumbles. "Nothing except something about a crush?" I say. "He wasn't talking about me having a crush." Tris says. "Oh come on girl! Give me the dets" I say like a girl. She laughs, and me and Caleb help pull her up and into a hug.
