The Doc had somehow come back into the wrong body and had taken on the role of the Director.
They promoted them, and now, between them, they had spent the time since the Droste trying to help those who had been wronged by the Firmament Foundation. Secretly repairing as much damage as they could.
Marcus looked out of the window of the commercial flight and marveled at the sight of the ocean from above. The transports he was used to never flew this high.
